The regular season of the 2021/22 Championship is almost over but there is still a lot to be decided. For hosts Fulham, promotion back to the Premier League has already been secured but they could add the Championship title to their collection on Monday. Given their goal difference advantage over second-placed Bournemouth, one point should be enough for Fulham to secure the title but three points against Luton will make the Cottagers uncatchable at the top.
However, that isn’t a guarantee as Fulham don’t go into this game in the best of form. Marco Silva’s side have won four of their past 10 Championship matches and just one in their past four, losing to Derby County and Nottingham Forest – though their only victory, against Preston, secured promotion. And they face another team with something on the line.
In their third season of the Championship, Luton are looking to get out of the division and move to the top flight of English football for the first time since 1991/92 – the final campaign before the creation of the Premier League. With two games left to the play, the Hatters are fifth in the Championship, two points clear of seventh-placed Middlesbrough who have played a game more.
So, Luton go into this game knowing a win at Craven Cottage would secure their spot in the play-offs with one match to spare. And they’re in decent form too, winning two of their past three matches, beating Nottingham Forest and Cardiff City before their draw with Blackpool at the weekend – all in spite of their growing injury list.

Fulham vs Luton match stats
Aleksandar Mitrovic is the clear star of this Fulham side, scoring 41 goals so far this season, but a name that perhaps goes under the radar slightly is Harry Wilson. The Welsh winger, still on loan from Liverpool, is the Championship’s assist leader going into the final gameweeks, having recorded 16 so far – three more than any other player.
Fulham are the top scorers in the Championship this season and are in fact just one goal away from hitting 100 league goals for the campaign, looking to become just the third team to hit the century since the restructuring of the English football league system in 1992/93.
