How both teams go into Everton vs Tottenham
It’s safe to say Evertonians are feeling incredibly anxious right now. They’ve had to watch their side slip to three consecutive defeats against Nottingham Forest, Bournemouth and Aston Villa, while they’ve won just one of their last 12 matches. What’s more, the Toffees have failed to score in eight of their last 10 matches, including four of their last five. Everton are still 16th in the table, but just one point clear of the relegation zone and with the second-lowest win tally in the division. Those results have ultimately cost Sean Dyche his job and David Moyes is back in charge.
Things aren’t exactly going much better for Spurs. They don’t have the same goalscoring issues as Everton, indeed netting 43 times, second only to Liverpool (48). However, they’re leaking goals, conceding 32 compared to just 26 from Everton. The Lilywhites have won just two of their last 10 Premier League matches and have slipped to 14th in the table as a result, 14 points adrift of the Champions League places.
Everton team news
Armando Broja picked up a knock against Bournemouth and will be absent for this match. Dwight McNeil will also be missing, and it will be a little too soon for the likes of James Garner and Tim Iroegbunam.
Tottenham team news
Ben Davies, Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven will all be missing. Destiny Udogie and Wilson Odobert are out until February, while Guglielmo Vicario won’t return until March at the earliest.
Everton vs Tottenham head-to-head
Spurs have met stubborn resistance at Goodison Park in recent years. However, they are unbeaten against Everton in their last nine meetings in normal time.
