Chelsea finally got their first win under Mauricio Pochettino last week, beating Luton Town 3-0 at Stamford Bridge. The win came after the Blues had draw their opening Premier League game against Liverpool before losing to West Ham. There were already some doubts, albeit too sudden, about whether Pochettino would be able to turn things around with a club that struggled last season. Chelsea followed up their win over Luton by beating Wimbledon in the second round of the EFL Cup, though it wasn’t a convincing result at all.
Nottingham Forest, meanwhile, have managed just one victory from their opening three games but the fixture list has been tough. Steve Cooper’s side lost 2-1 to Arsenal on the opening weekend and then fell to Manchester United at Old Trafford last time out — though they were 2-0 up. The two defeats came either side of a 2-1 win over Sheffield United which saw Chris Wood secure all three points late on. There was also disappointment in the EFL Cup in midweek with Forest knocked out by Burnley, conceding in the final minute of normal time.
