Things are tight at the bottom of the Premier League table and at the halfway stage Bournemouth are only one point above the drop zone. After an initial boost to their results following the appointment of Gary O’Neil as Scott Parker’s replacement, momentum ran out for the Cherries, and they are seriously suffering.

Bournemouth have lost eight of their past nine Premier League matches, with the only victory during that run coming against fellow strugglers Everton. Since beating the Toffees in their final game before the World Cup break, four league defeats have followed, with Bournemouth beaten by Chelsea, Crystal Palace, Manchester United and Brentford.

Nottingham Forest, meanwhile, are on a decent run of form having looked set to occupy the relegation zone for the majority of the season. Steve Cooper’s side have won three of their past six matches, with two draws and just one defeat – a 3-0 loss to Manchester United on the return from the World Cup break.

But since that defeat, Nottingham Forest have drawn with Chelsea and beaten both Southampton and Leicester, to lift themselves up to 13th. The Reds are now five points clear of the relegation zone but will know they cannot afford to rest on their laurels.

Bournemouth vs Nottingham Forest match stats

There’s only one way this game looks to be going, though the injury to Dean Henderson could throw a spanner in the works for Nottingham Forest. Cooper’s side have kept clean sheets in their past two Premier League matches, while Bournemouth are now four games in the league without scoring.

But don’t expect the game to be a thriller. No Premier League ground has seen fewer goals than Bournemouth’s Vitality Stadium this season (19), with only Wolves netting fewer home goals than the Cherries’ nine so far. On top of that, Nottingham Forest have scored just twice in their nine away games this season.
