Aston Villa vs Leeds United: Betting tips, predictions, odds & match preview
High-flying Aston Villa will look to maintain their perfect start to the Premier League season when they play host to Leeds United on Friday night.
Aston Villa vs Leeds United: Predictions
Aston Villa have made a perfect start to the new Premier League season but face a tricky home tie against Marcelo Bielsa’s Leeds, with the Whites looking to bounce back from defeat against Wolves on Monday.
The Villans survived the drop last campaign by the skin of their teeth and now find themselves in unfamiliar territory at the Premier League summit. A productive summer transfer window has thus far paid dividends with four successive wins, including that historic 7-2 mauling of reigning champions Liverpool.
Leeds were also involved in a high-scoring thriller against the Reds, but they suffered a 4-3 defeat on matchday one. Since that breathless curtain raiser, Bielsa’s side have had good-to-mixed fortunes, picking up points against Man City, Fulham and Sheffield United, but recently losing 1-0 to Wolves.
The enigmatic Argentine will be looking for a response from his side, and what better way to get his campaign back on track than by ending Villa’s unbeaten run. It would send out a clear message to the rest of the division, but Dean Smith certainly won’t make it easy for the visitors.

Aston Villa vs Leeds United: Match Stats
Since joining Aston Villa on loan from Chelsea, Ross Barkley has been in stellar form, finding the back of the net in each of his last two games, including a last-gasp winner against Leicester at the King Power. Should he net against Leeds then he will become the first player since Dion Dublin in 1998 to score in each of his first three top-flight games for the club.
Leeds too boast one or two goalscoring threats in their ranks. Pablo Hernandez came off the bench against Wolves but will be pushing for a start on Friday, and he may not be a bad option. The veteran playmaker has been directly involved in six goals across seven league starts against Villa (one goal, five assists), while Patrick Bamford will be hoping to score in Leeds’ first three away league matches of a season for the second year running.
