Arsenal enter the January Transfer Window needing to trim their squad before they can make the additions that could help them continue their rise up the Premier League table.
Three wins on the bounce and the Gunners are now suddenly back in reach of the European places as we approach the halfway point in the season.
In November, the club’s technical director Edu admitted the club are lacking an attacking player ‘with creativity’, an indication of where the club’s priorities could lie this month.
This week, the club have been linked with a move Emiliano Buendia (2/1 to join Arsenal before February 2). The Norwich midfielder is reportedly Arsenal’s No1 target amid claims they are lining up a player-plus-cash deal which could see Joe Willock or Reiss Nelson go the other way.
Meanwhile, the Gunners are being credited with an interest in Spain international Isco, who has been limited to just three starting appearances in the league for Real Madrid this term. Reports claim the Gunners are keen on a loan deal for the 28-year-old with Sky Bet pricing a move to the Emirates this month at 4/1.
Reports in Spain suggest Isco’s preference is to remain in Spain, however, with Sevilla second favourites to sign him at 3/1.
A more attainable option perhaps could be Christian Eriksen who has been made surplus to requirements at Inter Milan. The Dane is priced at 6/1 to join the Gunners but it remains to be seen whether he would risk the wrath of former side Tottenham.
Paris Saint-Germain are strong favourites to sign Eriksen (1/1) with his former boss Mauricio Pochettino now at the helm in the French capital.
Wilfried Zaha remains linked with a move across the capital after Arsenal’s pursuit of the Crystal Palace star 18 months ago. Everton however are the current favourites to sign the forward at 6/1 – a move to the Emirates is currently available at 10/1.
Trimming a bloated squad will be the priority this month, however. Mikel Arteta said last week: “There are some players who will go on loan or leave and that is the priority at the moment.
“We cannot sustain the numbers that we have in certain positions and we are looking to do that, and then we will see if we have the right opportunity in the positions where we need some more help.”
Two names Arteta is perhaps most keen to offload are Mesut Ozil and Shkodran Mustafi with a move to Turkey a strong option for the former. Sky Bet list four Super Lig clubs among their eight most likely destinations for Ozil with a move to any MLS club also priced at 3/1.

Mustafi meanwhile has been linked with a shock move to Barcelona by sections of the Spanish press – such a move is available at 5/4 with a return to former club Valencia 3/1.
And while he may have played himself back into form in recent weeks, Granit Xhaka is priced at 3/1 to join Inter Milan this month.
