AFCON 2022 fixtures: dates, kick off times, groups and results for Africa Cup of Nations

The delayed Africa Cup of Nations kicked off on January 9 as five-times tournament winners Cameroon began their bid to become the first hosts to go all the way since Egypt in 2006. 

Defending champions Algeria were considered among the favourites to win the entire thing ahead of the tournament but crashed out without a win at the bottom of Group E.

Attempting to pinch their Afcon crown are finalists Senegal and Egypt, who knocked out Burkina Faso and Cameroon in the semi-finals respectively.

Both The Comoros and Gambia reached the Afcon finals for the first time after historic qualification campaigns saw them through to the tournament proper. The Comoros fell at the round of 16 after a spirited showing against Cameroon, while Gambia reached the quarter-finals but were also sent packing by the hosts.
