Squawka Arcade: Five free football games to test your Premier League knowledge

Squawka Arcade: five free football games to play now

The Squawka Arcade is our new home for free football games, and it’s open now. There are five games to get stuck into, each built on real Opta data, and none of them needs an account or a download.

Some are daily puzzles with a fresh challenge every morning, while others you can play as often as you like. Here’s what each one asks of you, and how to get the best out of it.

Every game has its own page, so pick one below to jump straight in, or read on for how each of them works.

What’s in the Squawka Arcade?

Top Tenner: the daily Premier League stats quiz

Top Tenner hands you a Premier League stat each day, and you’ve got five minutes to name the top ten players. Each day’s stat comes from a single season, anywhere from 2016/17 to the current campaign, so it could be goals in 2018/19 one day and tackles in 2023/24 the next.

You can see each player’s total and club from the start. If you’re stuck, positions drop in after three minutes and nationalities after four. You can also skip straight to the next clue, but the clock jumps forward with it. Surnames are enough, accents are optional, and ties can stretch the board to as many as 15 players.

Find everyone inside five minutes and you’ve got a full house. Your best time for each day is saved, and the last seven days are there to replay if you miss one.

110%: build the Premier League’s stat leader XI

110% asks you to build a 4-3-3 of stat leaders from one Premier League season. Every position comes with its own stat, from saves in goal to goals up front, and you pick from ten players without seeing their numbers.

The player who led that stat earns you 10 points, second place is worth nine, and so on down to one. Get all 11 picks right and you’ve given the full 110%.

The Daily XI is the same for everyone, and only your first run of the day counts. If one go isn’t enough, practice squads are unlimited, and you can choose which season they come from.

Higher or Lower: keep your streak alive

Higher or Lower is the quickest game of the lot. You see one player’s total for a stat, such as goals, tackles or chances created, and then decide whether the next player’s number is higher or lower.

Every run sticks to one season, picked at random unless you choose one from the menu, so you’re always comparing players from the same campaign. Each correct call adds one to your streak, and a single wrong answer ends it. Be warned that the gaps between the numbers get tighter the longer your run goes on.

The Scoresheet: a Premier League memory game

Our personal favourite. The Scoresheet tests your memory rather than your predictions. You get 38 real Premier League results from 2017/18 to 2025/26, and for each one you have to name a player who was involved.

If your player scored, you win the game and take three points. If he played but didn’t score, it’s a draw and you get one point. Anyone else is a defeat. The search box covers every player from those seasons but doesn’t show their clubs, so you need to remember who was where.

Your points are set against a table of 19 rival clubs, and finishing top makes you champions. You can play the Daily season, which is the same for everyone, or pick a club and season to replay their real fixtures. There are four difficulty levels, running from Hard down to Very easy.

Squawkle: guess the club in six tries

Squawkle is our daily word puzzle with football clubs as the answers. You get six tries to guess the club. Green letters are in the right place, while yellow ones are in the name but in the wrong spot. There are more than 200 clubs in the mix, and a new one every day.

Coming soon

A click-to-reveal game is next to join the line-up, and we’ll be adding more to the Squawka Arcade as the season goes on.

How the Squawka Arcade works

Every game is free and plays in your browser on mobile or desktop. There’s nothing to sign up for, and your scores, streaks and best times are saved on the device you play on. Bear in mind that clearing your browser data will reset them.

The daily games reset at midnight UK time, so everyone plays the same challenge on the same day. That covers Top Tenner, Squawkle, the Daily XI in 110% and the Daily season in The Scoresheet, which makes them ideal for comparing notes with your mates. When you finish one, you’ll find links to the others, so you can work your way through the lot.

Where does the data come from?

The Premier League games use Opta data supplied through OneTwenty. These are the same numbers that sit behind our Premier League stats pages, and they match the official Premier League stats hub. Players who moved clubs mid-season count both clubs, so their totals cover the whole league campaign.
