You can make Squawka a preferred source on Google in about ten seconds. Tap the button below, tick the box next to Squawka and Google will push our stories higher up when you make relevant searches.
Google’s Top Stories carousel, the row of news articles above the normal search results, usually decides for you which outlets get a look-in. Preferred sources hand some of that choice back. Once Squawka is on your list, our stats pieces, odds explainers and Cult Corner deep dives have a much better chance of landing in that row whenever you search for a club, a player or a competition.
Nobody else gets hidden. Other publishers still turn up, you’re just telling Google whose take you’d rather read first. You can add as many sources as you want and remove them whenever you like.
How to add Squawka from a Google search
If the button doesn’t play ball on your phone or browser, you can do the same thing from any football search. We tested it with the search for our own piece on how the Premier League would have looked without Manchester City.
- Search Google for a football story or topic.
- Find the Top stories section and click Customise, next to the heading.
- Type “Squawka” into the Search by name or website box.
- Tick the box next to Squawka (squawka.com).
- Click Reload results.

Pick the right Squawka
Typing “Squaw” throws up a few lookalikes, and one of them is ours: the Squawka Shop at shop.squawka.com is listed as a separate source. It won’t give you our football coverage. The one you want is plain Squawka, with squawka.com written underneath.
Once it’s ticked, Squawka moves into the Your sources list at the bottom of the panel. If you can see it there, you’re done.

Squawka on Google: quick answers
Do I need to be signed in to Google?
Yes. Google saves your preferred sources to your account, so sign in first or the choice won’t stick between searches and devices.
Will I only see Squawka in Top Stories?
No. Google still mixes in other publishers. Preferred sources tilt the carousel towards the outlets you’ve picked when they have something relevant to your search.
How do I remove Squawka later?
Click Customise next to any Top stories heading and untick Squawka, or open the button link above and do it from there.
Why might Squawka not show up in the list?
Google says sources that aren’t updated regularly can drop out of the tool. That shouldn’t affect us, as we publish every day, but if the search box comes back empty, try typing squawka.com in full.
