Our Wycombe Wanderers vs Reading predictions start with a simple fact: the hosts have scored in every League One game this season, yet they are still waiting for a first home win ahead of Saturday’s 3pm kick-off at Adams Park.
Anthony Eadson has the best bets, a score prediction and the head-to-head record for this League One clash below.
Premium Tips
Anthony Eadson backs Jack Marriott’s Reading to shade a game with goals at both ends.
| Premium Tip | Odds | Why we’re backing it |
|---|---|---|
| Reading (draw no bet) | 20/21 (William Hill) | Wycombe are still without a home win in League One this season, drawing with Plymouth and MK Dons and losing 2-1 to Sheffield Wednesday at Adams Park. Reading have the division’s top scorer in Jack Marriott, who already has eight league goals, and they have a game in hand on every side bar Oxford. At 20/21, an implied probability of 51%, draw no bet protects the stake if the hosts hold on for a point. |
| Reading to win and both teams to score | 18/5 (William Hill) | Wycombe have scored in all seven of their league games and both teams have scored in six of them, including a 3-3 draw with MK Dons at Adams Park. Reading have scored three or more in three of their four home games but only once in two away trips, so this is a bet on Marriott and company finding their range on the road. At 18/5, the implied probability is 22%, and that price rewards the risk. |

How Wycombe Wanderers go into the game
Wycombe have won their last two on the road, edging Leyton Orient 3-2 and Wigan 1-0, and sit 14th on nine points.
Adams Park has been harder going. They drew 1-1 with Plymouth and 3-3 with MK Dons there and lost 2-1 to Sheffield Wednesday, so they are still hunting a first home league win of the season.
Goals have flowed at both ends. Wycombe have scored in all seven league games but conceded 14, including five in a 5-1 defeat at Stockport, and the 1-0 win at Wigan is their only clean sheet. They also went out of the League Cup at the first hurdle, beaten 2-1 at home by Stevenage.
How Reading go into the game
Reading sit eighth on ten points but have played a game fewer than every side bar Oxford, and last weekend’s 2-0 win over Notts County was their third home league win of the season.
At home they have been prolific, beating Mansfield 5-0 and Blackpool 3-1, although they also lost a seven-goal thriller 4-3 to Luton on the opening day.
Away form is the question. Reading drew 0-0 at AFC Wimbledon and lost 2-1 at Cambridge, so they have scored just once on the road. Jack Marriott has been the constant, scoring eight of their 14 league goals, including a hat-trick against Luton. They also reached the League Cup third round before a 2-1 home defeat by Brentford.

| 07/12/24 | Wycombe | 1-1 | Reading |
| 09/03/24 | Reading | 1-2 | Wycombe |
Reading have edged the recent series, winning three of the last six meetings against one Wycombe win and two draws. Wycombe’s only success in that run came at Reading in March 2024, and they lost 3-2 on their most recent visit in February.
