The price is unusually short for a Golden Boot market, but no one else in the division has hit those numbers.

The defending Golden Boot winner has stayed at Swindon and has 35 goals in 97 games for the club since arriving in February 2024. He turned 28 in May and comes off 22 goals, five assists and 3,413 minutes, so availability is not a concern. The question is whether Swindon can create as much again after a play-off campaign that ended in disappointment.

Jayden Wareham (12/1)
Wareham is the most improved striker in the division and drops down with Exeter City after scoring 19 League One goals last season. That was comfortably better than anything achieved by the League Two contenders at a higher level, and at 23 he played 3,565 minutes without a serious break. If Exeter recover quickly from relegation, 12/1 is generous.
Jaze Kabia (12/1)
Kabia was the story of last season at Blundell Park, scoring 24 goals in all competitions in his first EFL campaign, including 18 in the league and a hat-trick in the 4-0 win over Swindon that sealed Grimsby’s play-off place. Ollie Pearce (12/1)
Pearce arrives in the EFL having captained York City to the National League title, scoring 34 league goals to win the division’s Golden Boot for the second season running after 31 the year before. The 30-year-old is a proven volume scorer, and while the step up in level is real, York’s promotion-winning side scored freely enough for him to be taken seriously at the price.
Verdict
Langstaff is the right favourite but 5/2 leaves nothing to chance after two quiet seasons in the Championship. The better each-way value is Wareham at 12/1: he scored 19 goals a division higher last season, he is durable, and four places at 1/4 odds means he only has to finish inside the top four to pay. Pearce is the interesting alternative for anyone happy to back a National League Golden Boot winner in his first EFL campaign.
