The 21-year-old has attracted interest from clubs including Wrexham, so the obvious risk to this price is a summer move; the second is that Orient may again struggle for chances at the wrong end of the table. Even so, he is the only proven 20-goal man in the division.
Aribim Pepple (9/1)
Pepple’s first season at Home Park was a slow burn. The Canada international scored twice in his first 17 appearances after joining from Luton Town, then hit 10 in 15 games from late December and finished with 16 League One goals in 35 appearances. If he starts as he ended, Plymouth’s number nine is the most likely challenger to Ballard.

Jack Marriott (12/1)
Marriott is the fascinating name here. He scored 16 League One goals in just 24 appearances for Reading last season after moving from Wrexham, including a hat-trick against Wycombe Wanderers in February, and his 0.8 goals per 90 was the best rate in the division among regular starters. Fitness is the entire question: keep him on the pitch for 40 games and 12/1 will look large.
Alfie May (14/1)
May has been one of the most consistent finishers at this level for several years and now leads the line for a Doncaster Rovers side who have established themselves in the division. He is the type of penalty-box striker who benefits when a team plays with two wingers, and he will take his share of set-piece and spot-kick responsibility.
Louie Barry (14/1)
