No previous meetings between these teams.
Player stats will appear once the competition begins.
One of the biggest games of the 2026 World Cup group stages takes place on Saturday 13th June at 11pm (UK time) when Brazil take on Morocco in Group C.
Seleção will be hoping to make a real impact after a disappointing string of campaigns mean they haven’t made it past the quarter-final since they won World Cup 2002. Things won’t start easily for them, as they take on Morocco in their opening game, with just two places in the FIFA world rankings between the two nations.
Expectations will, as always, be on Brazil’s shoulders, especially with a wealth of talent available to them and the legendary Carlo Ancelotti on the sidelines. Morocco have moved into the world elite in recent years, though, reaching the semi-finals at the 2022 World Cup and winning the 2025 AFCON and will be looking to cement that with a big victory over Brazil.
Best Bets & Predictions
| Our Prediction | Odds & Bookmaker | Confidence | Why We’re Backing It |
|---|---|---|---|
| Double Chance – Morocco or Draw | 6/4 @ Sky Bet (40%) | ⭐⭐⭐ | Morocco’s odds of 5/1 seem a little overpriced for a nation that has performed so impressively in recent years. We’re not confident enough to back them on the outright market but the double chance on Morocco or Draw still has plenty of value and represents our first tip. Brazil aren’t the same animal they were previously and opening game nerves could play a part in what we see ending as a tightly contested game. |
| Highest scoring half – Second half | 23/20 @ Spreadex (46.5%) | ⭐⭐ | Five of Brazil’s last seven conceded have come in the second half, indicating an issue in seeing out matches. This, combined with four of Morocco’s last five goals coming in the second period, makes us think that the value lies in the second half being the highest scoring. |

How both teams go into Brazil vs Morocco
It hasn’t been the best of times for Brazil in recent years. They laboured to fifth in the CONMEBOL qualification group, finishing 10 points behind group winners, Argentina. Things haven’t improved hugely since then, either. They’ve only won three of the six friendlies they’ve played since the conclusion of the qualifying campaign, losing to both Japan and France in that time.
The World Cup is when Brazil come alive, though. They’ve reached the quarter-final stage in all eight of the last tournament, reaching the final three times and being triumphant twice. Seleção are the only nation to compete at every World Cup in history and it would take a brave person to count them out but a really tough match against Morocco might not be the best way to kick off their campaign.
Morocco have been the standout African side over the past four year, becoming the first nation from the continent to reach the World Cup semi-final in 2022 and winning AFCON in 2025, albeit in contentious circumstances. That run of form has seen the Atlas Lions rise to eighth in the FIFA world rankings and they will be looking to prove that they truly are one of the real contenders to win the World Cup this summer.
They are unbeaten in 26 games, a run that included 23 victories and stretches back to August 2025. Positive results against South American competition, namely Ecuador and Paraguay have cemented their place in the top ten of the world rankings and another scalp in Brazil could make more people sit up and take notice when it comes to considering Morocco as potential World Cup winners.
Brazil team news
Carlo Ancelotti hasn’t named his final squad for the 2026 World Cup but has released his provisional 55-man shortlist. As expected, the list is littered with star names with the likes of Vinicius Junior, Neymar and Raphinha all selected.
There are 17 players from the Premier League on the shortlist and stiff competition to make the final squad, especially in attack where 16 players have been named. Brentford’s Igor Thiago will be hoping that his performances this season will be enough to see him include, while Rayan of Bournemouth could be included as a youthful option after his successful move to the South Coast.
Morocco team news
Mohamed Ouahbi hasn’t named his final squad yet but there are several high-profile names that are expected to be included. Achraf Hakimi will almost certainly feature, while Premier League trio Noussair Mazraoui, Issa Diop and Chadi Riad will hope to feature in the Atlas Lions’ defence.
Chemsdine Talbi (Sunderland) and Amine Adli (Bournemouth) have impressed in the Premier League this season but will face competition from Real Madrid’s Brahim Díaz and Ayoub El Kaabi from Olympiacos for starting spots higher up the pitch.
Head-to-Head: Last 2 Meetings
These two nations have only met twice in their history, with both sides winning once. The 1998 World Cup saw Brazil run out 3-0 winners on their way to the final, while Morocco picked up a 2-1 friendly victory in 2023. With competitive fixtures between the two being so sparse, there isn’t a clear victor in historical matchups.
| Date | Score | Competition |
|---|---|---|
| 25/03/23 | Morocco 2-1 Brazil | Friendly |
| 16/06/98 | Brazil 3-0 Morocco | World Cup |
Who will prevail as South American and African giants meet?
This match caught the eye when the groups were drawn for the World Cup, with Morocco’s recent rise really being put to the test against one of the world’s biggest footballing nation. We’re confident that Morocco can get something from this game and our best bet comes in the double chance market with Morroco or Draw being priced at 6/4 with Sky Bet.
