Premier League stats and records you might have missed from Gameweek 36

VAR controversy, early-and-late goals, plus an assist from an unexpected source shaped a dramatic gameweek 36, as Arsenal took a huge stride towards their first Premier League title in 22 years after a narrow win at West Ham.

The Hammers thought they had snatched a late leveller only to have their goal ruled out following a lengthy VAR review. The result not only left Nuno Santo’s men right up against it in the fight for survival, but confirmed that Nottingham Forest and Leeds United will both be playing Premier League football next season.

Here are the standout statistics from the weekend.

Golden Raya

  • David Raya has won the Golden Glove award in each of his three seasons at Arsenal, accumulating an unmatched 47 clean sheets during this time.

Arsenal restored their five point lead at the top of the table after they squeezed past West Ham 1-0 at the London Stadium, thanks to a strike from Leandro Trossard, who scored his first goal in 26 games in all competitions. The result took Arsenal’s win count to 42 – in 60 games – across all competitions; their most ever in a single season.

David Raya made a superb save to deny Mateus Fernandes en route to keeping his 18th clean sheet of the season. The Spaniard has now been crowned the Premier League Golden Glove winner, which he’s won in all three seasons at the Gunners, accumulating a whopping 47 top-flight clean sheets during this period; 11 more than any other keeper.

As for West Ham, who will be absolutely gutted at that deflating VAR call, they have now become the first club to lose six home London derby games in a season.

3-0 to the Cityzens

  • Manchester City winning 3-0 is the most frequent scoreline in the Premier League this season, occurring eight times.

Manchester City briefly reduced the gap to Arsenal to two points following a comprehensive 3-0 win at home to Brentford: City winning 3-0 is the most frequent scoreline in the Premier League this season, occurring eight times.

Errling Haaland scored and assisted in the same game for the fifth time this season, stretching his lead in the Golden Boot to four goals over Igor Thiago, who was unable to add to his own tally at the Etihad. Haaland has now been directly involved in 34 Premier League goals this season, seven more than any other player.

As for Jeremy Doku, he now has more Premier League goals in his last two games (3) than his previous 39 games (2).

Spurs’ home woes

  • Tottenham are without a win in 10 Premier League home matches (D4 L6) dating back to 6th December 2025).

Tottenham had the opportunity to surge four points clear of West Ham with two games to go, but were left frustrated in a 1-1 draw at home to Leeds after a Dominic Calvert-Lewin penalty cancelled out Mathys Tel’s opener.

As a result, Spurs’ wretched winless run in front of their own fans was extended to 10 games, which stretches all the way back to early December.

Tottenham have picked up the joint fewest points (12) on home soil, level with relegated Burnley. Their final home game is against Everton on the final day, but before that they must travel to rivals Chelsea.

Martinez at your service

  • Aston Villa’s Emi Martinez became the third goalkeeper to register a Premier League assist this season after Alphonse Areola and Robert Sanchez.

Aston Villa saw their top-5 hopes frustrated after a 2-2 draw with Burnley at Turf Moor. Villa remain 5th, four points clear of Bournemouth and six ahead of Brighton with two games remaining – although those fixtures come against Liverpool and Manchester City.

Villa came from behind – after going 1-0 down – which has taken their tally to a league-high 20 points won from losing positions in the Premier League this season.

Emiliano Martinez also became just the third goalkeeper to register a Premier League assist this campaign – after Alphonse Areola and Robert Sanchez – when he set up Ollie Watkins. He’s the first Villa keeper to record an assist since Brad Guzan back in 2013.

The point and performance offered some encouragement for relegated Burnley, though it extended their winless run to 10 matches, and they still have not won at home since 18th October, which is a club equalling record run of 14 games.

Jack Flash

  • Jack Hinshelwood scored Brighton’s quickest ever Premier League goal (35 seconds) in the 3-0 win at home to Wolves.

Brighton kept their slim top-five hopes alive with a dominant 3-0 win over Wolves. The Seagulls flew out of the traps, scoring twice inside the opening five minutes of a Premier League match for the first time, while Jack Hinshelwood’s 35-second strike became Brighton’s fastest-ever Premier League goal.

For Wolves, the defeat completed an unwanted record, as they became just the second side after Sheffield United (023-24) to lose to all 19 opponents in a single Premier League season.

Teenage kicks

  • Bournemouth became the first team in Premier League history to have two different teenagers score in 3+ consecutive matches.

Bournemouth stretched their club-record unbeaten run to 16 matches with a 1-0 victory away at Fulham, keeping the pressure on Liverpool and Aston Villa in the race for a top-5 finish: with two games remaining, the Cherries sit 6th, four points off the Champions League spots.

19-year-old Rayan Kolli netted the winner as Bournemouth became the first side in Premier League history to have two different teenagers score in three or more consecutive matches.

The match also saw tempers flare, with Joachim Andersen and Ryan Christie both sent off before half-time. It marked only the second Premier League game this season in which both teams received a first-half red card – after Manchester United vs Chelsea – and it’s the first time it has happened more than once in a top-flight campaign since 2001-02.

Enzo ends drought

  • Enzo Fernandes has now scored more Premier League goals (18) for Chelsea than Michael Ballack, Michael Essien, and Olivier Giroud (all 17).

Liverpool and Chelsea shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw at Anfield, in a result that ended the Blues’ torrid six game losing streak, while Enzo Fernandes scored the club’s first Premier League away goal since 4th March. The midfielder has now scored more Premier League goals (18) for the club than Michael Ballack, Michael Essien, and Olivier Giroud (all 17).

Liverpool took the lead through Ryan Gravenberch after just six minutes, leaving Chelsea with an unwanted record of conceding nine goals in the opening 10 minutes of league games this season; their highest in a single campaign in the Premier League era.

Sarr joins Johnson

  • Ismaila Sarr became just the second Crystal Palace player to score 20+ goals across all competitions – as a Premier League club – after Andy Johnson.

Crystal Palace and Everton played out an entertaining 2-2 draw in the capital in a game which saw Ismaila Sarr become only the second ever Eagles player to score 20+ goals across all competitions in a single Premier League season after Andy Johnson.

Sarr has now equalled his best scoring season in the Premier League (8 goals) from the 2024-26 season, except he’s reached this tally in 13 fewer games, and still has the chance to beat it in Palace’s final three fixtures against Man City, Brentford, Arsenal.

Wall of Lammens

  • Senne Lammens became just the second goalkeeper across the last 10 seasons to prevent 2+ goals and keep a clean sheet in a Premier League game for Manchester United.

Manchester United were held to their first goalless draw of the season at the Stadium of Light, ending their 23-match scoring streak in the process.

United owed their clean sheet largely to Senne Lammens, who became just the second goalkeeper in the last 10 Premier League seasons to prevent two or more goals and still keep a clean sheet for the club.

Meanwhile, Sunderland are now winless in their last 29 Premier League matches against clubs that started the day in the top-4.

Late goals haunting the Toon

  • Newcastle United have conceded a Premier League high 20 goals in the last 15 minutes of the second-half this season.

Newcastle were unable to build on their brilliant win over Brighton as they were held to a 1-1 draw against Nottingham Forest, who now know that they have preserved their Premier League status.

The Toon took the lead in the 74th minute through Harvey Barnes, only to once again concede late on as their former player Elliot Anderson grabbed an 88th minute equaliser for Forest.

Newcastle have now dropped 27 points from winning positions – seven more than any other club –  and have conceded a league high 20 goals in the last 15 minutes of the second-half this season.
