Manchester City made history in 2017-18.
Gabriel Jesus’ last-gasp goal against Southampton on the final day of the season took Man City to 100 points in the Premier League. It was the first, and still only, time a club has hit three digits in Premier League history.
It’s a feat that may never be matched, given the competitiveness of the Premier League. A team can only drop a maximum 14 points across the season with 31 wins the absolute minimum.
This was Man City at arguably their most iconic, with a number of throwback names starting their domination of English football. But where are the players from the Centurions squad now? We’ve looked at 24 players to have made at least one appearance.
Ederson
- 2017-18 appearances: 36
- Career path since: Man City > Fenerbahce
This was Ederson’s first season at Man City after signing from Benfica, and what a campaign it was. He replaced Claudio Bravo as Man City’s first-choice goalkeeper, missing just the final two matches of the season once the title had been wrapped up. It was the start of a very successful Man City career, with Ederson winning everything during his time at the club.
The Brazilian only left Man City in the summer of 2025, having let a few mistakes creep into his game. He is now in the Turkish Super Lig with Fenerbahce as they seek the title.
Claudio Bravo
- 2017-18 appearances: 3
- Career path since: Man City >Real Betis
Claudio Bravo came in for the final two league games of the season, and also replaced Ederson in a match earlier in the campaign — when the Brazilian had to come off after colliding with Sadio Mane. It would have been a frustrating campaign for Bravo, who had joined to be No.1 the season before.
He had to make do with playing second fiddle for the next few seasons, but Bravo eventually left Man City in 2020 to join Real Betis. The Chilean remained at Real Betis for four years but an injury in his first season really stopped him from being the undisputed first-choice. Bravo retired in 2024.
John Stones
- 2017-18 appearances: 18
- Career path since: Man City
John Stones suffered with injuries in 2017-18, restricting him to just 18 appearances across the Premier League. But he did make it back in time to be in the final starting XI, securing the 100 points. Injuries have been a big problem for Stones in his Man City career, and he’s only played more than 25 league games in a single season once for the Citizens. And that was his first year there.
Stones has been a valuable servent for Man City, though, helping them to win everything. He has been more of a utility man in recent years, playing across the defence and even in midfield. The Englishman will leave Man City this summer.
Oleksandr Zinchenko
- 2017-18 appearances: 8
- Career path since: Man City > Arsenal > Nottingham Forest (loan) > Ajax
This was Oleksandr Zinchenko’s first actual season with Man City, having spent his first year at the club on loan at PSV. He was a rotational option, which is exactly what Pep Guardiola needed. If there was a spot that needed filling, Zinchenko was the man. Let’s not forget that Zinchenko wasn’t actually a left-back. Guardiola was just the first to use him there. Zinchenko did rack up 128 appearances for Man City, winning everything domestically before leaving for Arsenal.
Across three years with Arsenal, Zinchenko made just under 100 appearances and was a first-choice left-back. He moved away on loan to Nottingham Forest at the start of 2025, but couldn’t get a run of games due to injury. He returned to Arsenal and then left permanent in January — joining Ajax.
Aymeric Laporte
- 2017-18 appearances: 9
- Career path since: Man City > Al-Nassr > Athletic Bilbao
Aymeric Laporte only joined Man City midway through the 2017-18 campaign, but quickly became a regular feature. He played in nine of Man City’s final 14 Premier League games that season, as support for either Nicolas Otamendi or Vincent Kompany. Laporte became one of Guardiola’s first-choice centre-backs in 2018-19 but, as has been the case for so many, injury hit. He did have another good season in 2021-22, but Laporte soon found himself replaced by players with more reliable injury histories. Laporte did still pick up a Champions League winners’ medal in 2022-23, but he only played four games in that year’s competition.
The Spaniard left Man City in 2023 to join Al-Nassr in Saudi Arabia, playing 69 times for the club. He returned to Europe, and Athletic Bilbao, in 2025 and is currently a mainstay in defence.
Kyle Walker
- 2017-18 appearances: 32
- Career path since: Man City > AC Milan (loan) > Burnley
Kyle Walker was another player enjoying his first season at Man City in this campaign. And he was another to dominate in his position. Not just at Man City, but Walker was arguably one of the best right-backs at least in the Premier League for many years. The Englishman played over 300 times for Man City and won everything available, all as a starter. He was even named captain after Vincent Kompany’s departure.
But midway through the 2024-25 season, Walker asked to leave Man City. He joined AC Milan on loan and played 11 times before the end of the season. The move was not made permanent, and Walker joined Burnley in the summer. He’s captained the Clarets in Josh Cullen’s absence, but was part of the side relegated from the Premier League.
Danilo
- 2017-18 appearances: 23
- Career path since: Man City >Juventus > Flamengo
It might be easy to forget that Danilo was part of the Centurions squad. This was his first of just two seasons at Man City, during which he was a decent utility man. The Brazilian played across the back line for Man City but couldn’t ever nail down a guaranteed spot of his own.
That resulted in Danilo leaving for Juventus in the summer of 2019, where he did become a regular. Danilo made over 200 appearances for Juventus across a six-year stay, but he did only win one Serie A title and two Coppa Italia titles. He left Italy in 2025 to return to his native Brazil, now representing Flamengo.
Nicolas Otamendi
- 2017-18 appearances: 34
- Career path since: Man City >Benfica
Nicolas Otamendi was in the middle of a five-year stay at Man City, and he was a very important player at the club. The Argentine missed only four league games throughout the 2017-18 campaign, and two of those came at the end of the season when the title was already wrapped up. He was the first-choice centre-back and the experienced man at the heart off Guardiola’s defence. But this would be his final season with that role. Otamendi’s playing time decreased over the next two seasons , and he left for Benfica in 2020.
Now 38, Otamendi is still at Benfica, winning one league title and one Portuguese League Cup. He hasn’t done too badly at international level, winning two Copa America titles and the World Cup. There are worse international careers.
Eliaquim Mangala
- 2017-18 appearances: 9
- Career path since: Man City >Everton (loan) > Valencia > Saint-Etienne > Estoril > Oriente Petrolero
Eliaquim Mangala didn’t actually finish the campaign with Man City. He was sent on loan to Everton in January 2018, after Laporte’s arrival, but only played two league matches for the Toffees before suffering a season-ending knee injury. Mangala remained on Man City’s books until 2019 but did not play for the club again, eventually joining Valencia (for whom he had previously played on loan from Man City).
The Frenchman made just over 20 appearances during his permanent stay in Spain, and was really unable to nail a spot in any of his team since. Mangala has since played for Saint-Etienne and Estoril, before joining Bolivian club Oriente Petrolero after some spells without a club.
Vincent Kompany
- 2017-18 appearances: 17
- Career path since: Man City >Anderlecht
Vincent Kompany’s time at Man City was winding down by the 2017-18 season. But he still had time to score a wonder goal to help secure the title a year later. Kompany only played 17 times in the league in 2017-18 as he suffered with injury, leading to the signing of Laporte. It was a similar story a year later, though Kompany ended the season as the starter — going out with a bang. He left Man City in the summer of 2019, a club legend, with 360 appearances and 10 major trophies.
Kompany retruned to boyhood club Anderlecht for one final season before retiring in 2020, turning to management — starting at Anderlecht. He’s already had success as a coach, winning two Bundesliga titles with Bayern Munich.
Phil Foden
- 2017-18 appearances: 5
- Career path since: Man City
Phil Foden made his Premier League debut during the 2017-18 campaign, but only amassed 44 minutes across his five appearances. Those 44 minutes were still enough to get Foden a winner’s medal, though. Foden wouldn’t become a regular feature of the Man City team until the 2019-20 campaign, but there were always talks of him being under-utilised.
Despite this, Foden has played over 350 times for Man City and scored over 100 goals. And he’s won the lot. He’s not been used as much as a starter in 2025-26, having to fight with Man City’s bolstered attacking options. But Foden is still very much a big part of Man City’s squad and a fine attacking outlet.
Bernardo Silva
- 2017-18 appearances: 35
- Career path since: Man City
Bernardo Silva is a Man City legend, and he’ll be saying goodbye to the club this summer. This was actually his first season at Man City and he immediately became an integral part of their squad, making 35 league appearances — with a lot coming off the bench. He was used more as a winger during the campaign, as that was his favoured role when first signing.
Silva was eventually moved centrally by Guardiola, both as a No.10 but also as a deeper central midfielder. It allowed Silva to control matches and show his magic from a deeper starting point. It’s why he’s the club legend he is today. Silva has played over 450 times for Man City, winning 15 major trophies including six Premier League titles and the Champions League.

Kevin De Bruyne
- 2017-18 appearances: 37
- Career path since: Man City >Napoli
Kevin De Bruyne was in his third season at Man City in 2017-18 and was more important than ever. In fact, he played more games and minutes in the league that season than in any other campaign for Man City. The only game De Bruyne missed was the penultimate match of the season against Brighton and Hove Albion. And, he was the one to set up Gabriel Jesus’ goal against Southampton on the final day to seal 100 points.
De Bruyne did have a couple of injury layoffs during his time at Man City but always returned a key player. It wasn’t until 2023 that Man City felt like that could manage without the Belgian and his magic. But even then he still showed his class when called upon. De Bruyne left the club last summer, after 10 years of service, with over 400 appearances under his belt and over 150 assists. The Belgian joined Napoli but his debut campaign has been injury-hit.
Ilkay Gundogan
- 2017-18 appearances: 30
- Career path since: Man City > Barcelona > Man City > Galatasaray
Ilkay Gundogan joined Man City the season before their Centurions campaign, but he had only made 10 appearances due to an ACL injury. So this felt like his first real season at Man City, and it was the start of something great. Gundogan became one of the main faces of the Man City midfield, playing at least 30 times in three consecutive campaigns. Injuries continued to hamper Gundogan slightly, but not enough to make him any less important.
Gundogan left Man City in 2023, just after winning the Champions League, joining Barcelona. But he only stayed at Barcelona for one season before returning to Man City. The German once again became a big part of Man City’s side, filling in gaps for Guardiola. Gundogan left Man City for the second time last summer, to join Turkish side Galatasaray.
Fabian Delph
- 2017-18 appearances: 22
- Career path since: Man City > Everton
Fabian Delph spent four seasons at Man City, joining from Aston Villa in 2025. But he only made 89 appearances for the club due to injury. Of those, 57 came in the Premier League, 22 of which were in the Centurions campaign. That was actually his best campaign for Man City in terms of minutes and appearances, though he still suffered with injuries.
Delph only played 20 times for Man City across all competitions in 2018-19, mostly in defence, before joining Everton. But injuries followed Delph and he only made 41 appearances for the Toffees in three years. He retired in 2022.
David Silva
- 2017-18 appearances: 29
- Career path since: Man City > Real Sociedad
David Silva was edging closer towards leaving Man City by the time they became Centurions. But he still had a few years left in him. And a lot of magic. Silva had started captaining Man City at times in Vincent Kompany’s absence and he was directly involved in 20 goals in 2017-18, scoring nine goals and providing 11 assists. The Spaniard played even more games the following season and became the full-time club captain in his final year in 2019-20.
Silva left Man City in 2020 after 10 years, with four Premier League titles, two FA Cups and five EFL Cups. He returned to Spain for the final three years of his career and was part of the Real Sociedad side to win the Copa del Rey in 2019-20 — his first season at the club. It was La Real‘s first major trophy in over 30 years.
Fernandinho
- 2017-18 appearances: 34
- Career path since: Man City >Atletico Paranaense
Fernandinho made almost 400 appearances for Man City during his nine years at the club, and was captain by the time he left in 2022. He was crucial at the base of Man City’s midfield and played 34 league games during the 2017-18 season — his most appearances, and minutes, in a single campaign for Man City. Fernandinho remained a regular in Man City’s starting XI for two more seasons including one as a centre-back, after Rodri had taken his midfield spot.
Fernandinho left Man City in 2022, so missed out of the club winning the Champions League. But he won pretty much everything else at the club. He left to return to Brazil, and Atletico Paranaense, whom he had represented earlier in his career. Fernandinho spent just under three years with Atletico-PR and played in the 2022 Copa Libertadores final. The Brazilian retired in late 2025 at the age of 40.
Yaya Toure
- 2017-18 appearances: 10
- Career path since: Man City > Olympiacos > Qingdao Huanghai
This was Yaya Toure’s eighth and final season at Man City and he was sadly only restricted to 228 minutes in the Premier League, spending a lot of time on the bench. He wasn’t even in their squad for the final game of the season, but Toure did captain Man City in his final ever appearance for the club. It capped off a Man City career that had seen Toure win three Premier Leagues, including the club’s first in 2011-12. He also won three League Cups and the FA Cup.
Toure left Man City for Olympiacos in 2018 but only stayed in Greece for a few months. He then joined Chinese club Qingdao Huanghai but, again, the stint was brief. But while in Asia, Toure starting working on his coaching and has had a spell at Tottenham Hotspur’s academy.
Brahim Diaz
- 2017-18 appearances: 5
- Career path since: Man City > Real Madrid > AC Milan (loan)
Brahim Diaz made his Premier League debut in 2017-18, and he did just enough to get a winner’s medal with five appearances. But there was always transfer speculation surrounding Diaz and he left for Real Madrid in January 2019, having failed to make a Premier League appearance in the first half of the season.
Diaz continued to struggle for game time at Real Madrid, and was sent on loan to AC Milan for three seasons. There he started to grow as a player and looked closer to the star many had tipped him to be following a promising youth career. Diaz returned to Real Madrid in 2023 and has become a decent squad player, though there will still be frustrations about his lack role. Still, he’s got a Champions League winner’s medal, after being an unused substitute in Real Madrid’s 2-0 win over Borussia Dortmund in 2024.
Leroy Sane
- 2017-18 appearances: 32
- Career path since: Man City > Bayern Munich > Galatasaray
This was Leroy Sane’s best season for Man City. He joined a year earlier and had had a decent first campaign in England. But in 2017-18, Sane played the most minutes of any league campaign for Man City. In fact, it’s the most league minutes he’s had for any club in a single season. It was also his most productive, scoring 10 goals and providing 15 assists. Only one player bettered Sane for assists across the league that season – with De Bruyne finishing on 16.
Sane had a pretty good season the following year, but suffered an ACL injury in the Community Shield in the summer of 2019. That scuppered a move to Bayern Munich that summer, though he did join the German side the following year. Sane quickly became a key part of Bayern’s dominating side, though others shone brighter. He left for Galatasaray last summer and looks set to add a Turkish Super Lig title to his cabinet.
Gabriel Jesus
- 2017-18 appearances: 29
- Career path since: Man City >Arsenal
This was Gabriel Jesus’ first full season at Man City, having joined in January 2017. It was a good first full season too, as the Brazilian scored 13 goals in the league to contribute to Man City lifting the title. Of course, he scored the most important goal, too, on the final minutes of the season against Southampton. It was a beautiful goal too, lifting the ball over the head of the goalkeeper having been played through by De Bruyne. Jesus was a great player for Man City during his time at the club, providing a good backup option for Sergio Aguero.
But Jesus left in 2022, joining Arsenal in the hopes of being a first-choice striker. He’s had his moments at Arsenal but has also been hit by injuries in recent years. The Brazilian could end the 2025-26 season with another Premier League winner’s medal, though.
Lukas Nmecha
- 2017-18 appearances: 2
- Career path since: Man City > Preston (loan) > Wolfsburg (loan) > Middlesbrough (loan) > Anderlecht (loan) > Wolfsburg > Leeds
Lukas Nmecha was just getting going in the 2017-18 campaign, making three appearances across all competitions. But his two in the Premier League brought just 14 minutes, after the title had been secured. Those would also be the only appearances Nmecha made for Man City. The following season, the German joined Preston North End on loan, which started a cycle of temporary moves. He also represented Wolfsburg, Middlesbrough and Anderlecht, linking up with Kompany at the latter.
Nmecha returned to Wolfsburg permanently in 2021 and had a good first season at the club. But he suffered greatly with injuries, which hampered his progress. Nmecha left Wolfsburg last summer to join Leeds United in the Premier League, and he’s a decent squad player.
Raheem Sterling
- 2017-18 appearances: 33
- Career path since: Man City > Chelsea > Arsenal (loan) > Feyenoord
Raheem Sterling was another to have his best Man City season in 2017-18. He was directly involved in 29 Premier League goals, scoring 18 with 11 assists, with only Mo Salah (42) and Harry Kane (32) directly involved in more in the division that season. The Englishman was integral to this Man City side, and it’s no surprise that they won the league once he really got off the mark. Sterling continued the form into the following season, with 17 goals and 10 assists as Man City retained the crown. Even the following year, Sterling scored 20 goals. He continued to play well for Man City, scoring over 100 goals in more than 300 appearances, piquing Chelsea’s interest.
Sterling joined Chelsea in 2022-23 and did well enough considering the circumstances. But he wasn’t the man the club needed at a time of turmoil. Sterling joined Arsenal on loan in 2024-25 but it was a similar story there as the Englishman struggled for game time. He was frozen out of Chelsea upon his return, and finally left permanently in 2026, joining Feyenoord.
Sergio Aguero
- 2017-18 appearances: 25
- Career path since: Man City > Barcelona
What else needs to be said about Sergio Aguero? The Argentine ended the 2017-18 season injured and missed the final run-in. But he had still scored 21 goals in 25 games to help lead Man City to the title. It was the fifth of six seasons in which Aguero had scored at least 20 goals in Premier League. Although Aguero’s final few seasons at Man City were hampered by injuries, he did still bounce back for another 21-goal season in 2018-19. Of course, his main glory came before the Centurions season, but Aguero only continued the legend during this campaign.
Aguero left Man City in 2021, after 260 goals in 390 games — becoming the club’s all-time leading goalscorer. He joined Barcelona but did not play too many games, before having to retire due to a heart problem. Post-retirement, Aguero has worked in Gerard Pique’s Kings League as a club chairman. He’s also featured at times for his club, Kunisports.
