Burnley vs West Ham: predictions, stats, tips & odds

Best Bets & Predictions

Our PredictionOdds & BookmakerConfidenceWhy We’re Backing It
Lucas Pires Over 0.5 fouls 5/6 @ Bet365
(54.5%)
⭐⭐⭐⭐This is a huge game for Burnley in their quest to stay in the Premier League and we expect plenty of fouls from the hosts. One player who stands out in the market is Lucas Pires, who has recorded at least one foul in all of his last six Premier League outings. His figures in that period read 2,1,1,2,1,1, and he looks overpriced here at 5/6.
Kyle Walker to be carded4/1 @ Betfair
(20.0%)
⭐⭐⭐Quite surprisingly, Kyle Walker is Burnley’s most carded player in the Premier League this season. The former Tottenham and Manchester City man has picked up eight yellows in just 23 appearances this season, instantly giving appeal to the 4/1 on show for another on Saturday. In what is a huge game for Burnley, it would be no surprise to see another card for Walker against the Hammers.

How both teams go into Burnley vs West Ham

Burnley’s recent lift came to a sudden stop on Monday with a heavy 3-0 defeat to Sunderland. That loss ended a four-game unbeaten run and served as a reminder of how fragile their position remains, despite recent draws against Manchester United, Liverpool and Tottenham.

The Clarets have now lost 15 league games this season and sit 19th, 11 points from safety. They have not won in 15 matches and are closing in on an unwanted club record. With Burnley winless in their last eight meetings with West Ham, confidence at Turf Moor is understandably low.

West Ham’s loss last time out followed a familiar script, giving up another lead and pushing their total dropped points from winning positions this season to 18. It was the seventh time they have failed to win after going ahead, underlining a growing issue for the Hammers.

Nuno Espirito Santo will be looking for a response and a return to the form that brought wins in January and November. West Ham usually fare well against Burnley, but poor away form tempers confidence. With defeats already suffered against promoted sides, avoiding another slip is key as they try to close the gap to safety.

Head-to-Head

Last 6 Meetings

The last six clashes between Burnley and West Ham have produced plenty of drama, with both sides finding the net regularly. West Ham have the overall edge with 7 wins in the last 15 encounters, but Burnley have shown they can compete, especially at Turf Moor.

Will West Ham’s firepower prevail at Turf Moor?

Burnley are in terrible form, but know they must pick up a result here if they are to stay in the Premier League this season. As a result, we like the look of Lucas Pires to commit a foul at 5/6 and Kyle Walker to be carded at 4/1.
