Following Gameweek 23 of the 2025-26 Premier League season, we run through the Squawka Score Team of the Week.
Despite Manchester United’s stunning 3-2 win at Arsenal, none of their stars make the team with Aston Villa instead leading the way with three selections.
The XI is next best represented by Fulham and Leeds United with two apiece while there is also players from Liverpool, Chelsea, Fulham, West Ham and Everton.
The Squawka Score is our proprietary performance rating, combining multiple Opta stats into a single percentage. It benchmarks players against their positional peers, allowing quick comparisons. Learn more about how it works here: https://www.squawka.com/en/news/squawka-score-explained/

GK: Emiliano Martinez (Aston Villa)
- Squawka score: 83%
Emiliano Martinez nails down the goalkeeper spot this week after a fine display in Villa’s impressive win at Newcastle. After making an error in the loss to Everton last week, Martinez bounced back on Tyneside, making four saves, preventing 1.22 goals and keeping a clean sheet.
Honourable mention: Robert Sanchez (70%)
Robert Sanchez built on a strong performance in the win over Brentford last weekend at Selhurst Park as Chelsea beat Crystal Palace 3-1. There was no clean sheet but the Spaniard did prevent 1.3 goals.
RB: James Justin (Leeds)
- Squawka score: 68%
Given James Justin scored on Monday night at Everton, he gets the nod for selection here. The Leeds full-back has been a standout performer for Daniel Farke’s side since his summer move from Leicester.
Honourable mention: Matty Cash (68%)
Matty Cash just misses out after yet another strong showing in Villa’s win at St James’ Park. The Polish international is enjoying arguably his best season with the club as they maintain an unlikely title challenge.
CB: Joachim Andersen (Fulham)
- Squawka score: 73%
Joachim Andersen was a factor at both ends in Fulham’s late comeback win over Brighton on Saturday, providing an assist for Samuel Chukwueze’s equaliser and keeping the Seagulls relatively quiet after Yasin Ayari’s opener. The Dane continues to be a key player for Marco Silva’s high-flyers.
Honourable mention: Marc Guehi (69%)
Marc Guehi made his Manchester City debut in their 2-0 win over Wolves and immediately brought a much-needed calm to Pep Guardiola’s side. His form and fitness will be vital if City are to push for the title.
CB: Pascal Struijk (Leeds United)
- Squawka score: 72%
Partnering Andersen at the back is Pascal Struijk, who was a rock at the back for Leeds on Merseyside on Monday night. But for Thierno Barry’s late equaliser, it would have been a perfect night for the Dutch international.
Honourable mention: Cristian Romero (69%)
Cristian Romero continues to be Tottenham’s saviour, scoring his fourth league goal of the season to rescue a late point at Burnley. Thomas Frank would almost certainly be out of a job if not for his captain.
LB: Ian Maatsen (Aston Villa)
- Squawka score: 68%
Rounding off the backline is Ian Maatsen, who joins his Villa goalkeeper in the lineup. The Dutchman was booked at St. James’ Park but marshalled the threat of Anthony Gordon with relative ease.
Honourable mention: Patrick Dorgu (67%)
Patrick Dorgu is incredibly unlucky to miss out on selection here after his goal of the season contender at the Emirates. The Dane has pushed further forward in recent weeks but will now miss up to two months with a hamstring injury.
RW: Harry Wilson (Fulham)
- Squawka score: 75%
Harry Wilson is in the form of his life right now. His late free-kick won all three points for Fulham against Brighton and he has already bettered his previous best league season tally. Of his eight goals, half have come in the Cottagers’ last four home games.
Honourable mention: Jarrod Bowen (73%)
Jarrod Bowen was unsurprisingly the star man as West Ham made it back-to-back wins with an impressive 3-1 victory over Sunderland. The Irons icon assisted Cryscensio Summerville brilliantly from the spot before doubling their lead from the spot in clinical fashion. Can he help keep them up?
CM: Mateus Fernandes (West Ham United)
- Squawka score: 79%
Mateus Fernandes has really stepped up in recent weeks with his strike against Sunderland following up an assist in the late win at Tottenham. Still just 21, he looks a real talent and could be on the market if Nuno’s men go down.
Honourable mention: Idrissa Gueye (73%)
Idrissa Gueye returned to the Everton midfield after Senegal’s Africa Cup of Nations victory and reminded everyone of his importance to his side with a typically combative performance.
CM: Dominik Szoboszlai (Liverpool)
- Squawka score: 77%
Dominik Szoboszlai has been Liverpool’s best player this season by a mile and that continued in the late and chaotic 3-2 loss at Bournemouth. He provided the assist for Virgil van Dijk to halve the deficit before curling home a free-kick to level things up. It was all in vain as the Reds’ poor league form continued but he can be proud of his efforts.
Honourable mention: Sandro Tonali (74%)
In the absence of Bruno Guimares, Sandro Tonali was the main man in the Newcastle midfield against Villa. He stepped up to the plate but like Szoboszlai, his side still lost.
LW: Estevao (Chelsea)
- Squawka score: 76%
Estevao returned to the Chelsea lineup after sitting out the win against Brentford with illness and showed why he’s one of the most exciting young talents in world football. The Brazilian opened the scoring at Selhurst Park with a fine goal before teeing up Joao Pedro for the second as Liam Rosenior secured another victory.
Honourable mention: Cryscensio Summerville (73%)
Crysensio Summerville opened the scoring in West Ham’s excellent win over Sunderland with a surprise bullet header from Bowen’s fine cross.
FW: Ollie Watkins (Aston Villa)
- Squawka score: 75%
Ollie Watkins ended his four-game goal drought with a header at St. James’ Park to seal an excellent win for Villa. It was his eighth goal of an up-and-down season for the England man who will hope to kick on with so much to play for with both club and country.
Honourable mention: Antoine Semenyo (72%)
Antoine Semenyo has taken to life at Man City with ease, and opened his Premier League account for the club in the comfortable win over Wolves. It was his 11th of the season and is certain not to be his last.
FW: Thierno Barry (Everton)
- Squawka score: 77%
Joining Watkins up top is the player who scored the winner against Villa last weekend – Thierno Barry. After a 15-game wait for his first goal for Everton, the young striker now has five Premier League goals including four from his last five.
Honourable mention: Igor Jesus (72%)
Igor Jesus grabbed his ninth goal for Nottingham Forest but just his second Premier League goal to open the scoring in a hugely impressive 2-0 win at Brentford. He is unfortunate to miss out on selection here.
