Over 2.5 goals 4/5 @ BetMGM
(55.6%)
⭐⭐⭐⭐This feels like a last-chance saloon for Thomas Frank on Tuesday and his team may have to be much more attacking if he is to remain in a job. The main angle here, though, is just how crazy Dortmund games have been in the Champions League this season. Across the German side’s six UCL matches this term, there have been 32 goals, at a massive average of 5.33 per game.
Over 4.5 goals 9/2 @ BetMGM
(18.2%)
⭐⭐⭐Following on from our first tip we are pushing the line up to Over 4.5 goals here at 9/2. This bet has landed in four of Dortmund’s six Champions League outings and looks overpriced here considering both teams need to win to qualify for the knockout stage.

How both teams go into Tottenham vs Borussia Dortmund

Tottenham have found more comfort in Europe than at home this season, sitting higher in the 36 team Champions League table than in the Premier League. Their 3 0 win over Slavia Prague on matchday six marked a third league phase victory and kept them within touching distance of the automatic last 16 places.

That result made it three straight Champions League home wins without conceding, but domestic form has continued to unravel. A 2 1 defeat to West Ham in Saturday’s derby extended Spurs’ losing run to three games in all competitions and intensified the pressure on Frank, whose position remains under review ahead of a crucial midweek test.

Niko Kovac approaches this week without the same pressure on his position, even if Borussia Dortmund face a battle to avoid the Champions League playoff places. Their latest European outing ended in frustration as they surrendered two leads in a 2 2 home draw with Bodo Glimt, while defensive issues have seen them concede 10 goals on the road in the competition this season.

Domestic form has been steadier, highlighted by a dramatic 3 2 Bundesliga win over St Pauli that extended Dortmund’s unbeaten run to seven matches. Still, they trail Bayern Munich in the title race and are already out of the DFB Pokal, leaving the Champions League as their clearest route to silverware despite a poor recent record away to English sides and against Tottenham in Europe.

Spurs team news

Frank is facing a mounting selection headache as Tottenham prepare for the match, with Micky van de Ven suspended and Ben Davies a major doubt after being stretchered off against West Ham. The injury list is already lengthy, including Dejan Kulusevski, James Maddison, Rodrigo Bentancur, Mohammed Kudus and Richarlison, while Dominic Solanke and Radu Dragusin are ineligible and Joao Palhinha is struggling with a knock. Conor Gallagher and Yves Bissouma are not registered, and Pape Sarr is unlikely to return in time after his commitments at the Africa Cup of Nations.

Dortmund team news

Borussia Dortmund arrive in better shape, although Aaron Anselmino remains sidelined with a hamstring issue and Marcel Sabitzer and Ramy Bensebaini both missed the win over St Pauli through injury and illness respectively. Niko Kovac also has a decision to make in attack, where Fabio Silva has impressed enough in recent weeks to stay ahead of Serhou Guirassy in the starting lineup.

Season Form & Standings

2025/26 season to date: Both Tottenham and Dortmund have amassed 11 points from six matches, each winning three, drawing two, and losing once. Dortmund edge the scoring charts with a remarkable 19 goals, but have conceded 13, while Tottenham have let in only 7. Both sides boast a +6 goal difference. Tottenham have shown a significant jump up the standings, while Dortmund’s attack has carried them through high-scoring encounters.

Will Tottenham’s defence hold, or will Dortmund’s attack break through?

The result looks a little tricky to predict here, but goals look the best angle to get behind. Dortmund’s Champions League matches this season average a whopping 5.3 per game and at 4/5 with BetMGM, Over 2.5 goals looks the best bet here.
