Premier League Predictions Gameweek 22: Back Brentford to upset Chelsea

The Premier League returns this weekend for gameweek 22. Ten matches take place between Saturday 17 January and Monday 19 January. The Manchester Derby at Saturday lunchtime catches the eye, and below you can find our predictions for each match.

Man United vs Man City – Saturday 17 January – 12:30pm

  • Man United vs Man City prediction, stats and team news

Manchester City may have had less time to prepare for this game, but they have become a very backable price at a shade under even money. Pep Guardiola’s side are unbeaten in their last 13 across all formats (W10 D3), and face a United team that has won just one of their last seven. City must win here to keep the pressure on Arsenal and their quality can shine through on Saturday lunchtime.

Prediction: Man United 0-2 Man City (13/2 with BOYLESports)

Chelsea vs Brentford – Saturday 17 January – 3:00pm

Brentford look a big price here for a side who sit two points above Chelsea in the league table. Keith Andrews’ side have had longer to prepare for this game with Chelsea playing midweek. The Blues have failed to keep a clean sheet in all of their last eight matches across all formats, while Brentford have won four of their last five in the league.

Prediction: Chelsea 1-2 Brentford (16/1 with BOYLESport)

Leeds vs Fulham – Saturday 17 January – 3:00pm

Fulham have enjoyed a good festive period and have gone six games without defeat in the Premier League. The Cottagers sit ninth in th league standings, nine points and seven places ahead of Leeds. With wins over Forest, West Ham and Chelsea, along with a point against Palace and Liverpool in recent weeks, there is plenty of reason to believe the visitors can take something here.

Prediction: Leeds 1-1 Fulham (11/2 with BOYLESports)

Liverpool vs Burnley – Saturday 17 January – 3:00pm

Liverpool are unbeaten since the end of November, but with the Reds only priced at 1/4, taking them to win the game and both teams to score looks a much more palatable option at 2/1. Liverpool have conceded in all of their last three victories and with Burnley getting on the scoresheet twice on their most recent league outings against Man Utd, there’s plenty of reason to believe they can score here.

Prediction: Liverpool 3-1 Burnley (12/1 with BOYLESports)

Sunderland vs Crystal Palace – Saturday 17 January – 3:00pm

Sunderland remain unbeaten in their 10 Premier League home games this season (W5 D5. They face a Palace side who have failed to win their last nine across all competitions.

Prediction: Sunderland 1-0 Crystal Palace (9/1 with BOYLESports)

Tottenham vs West Ham – Saturday 17 January – 3:00pm

The Hammers are on a dreadful run and are winless in their last ten league outings. The Hammers have lost five of their last six and have failed to score in their last two on the road, suffering 3-0 defeats at Manchester City and bottom-of-the-table Wolves. Spurs have been in poor form themselves but can pull off a result here against their former boss.

Prediction: Spurs 2-0 West Ham (13/2 with BOYLESports)

Nott’m Forest vs Arsenal – Saturday 17 January – 5:30pm

Arsenal have won five of their last six in the Premier League with the only blemish on that record being the goalless draw with Liverpool nine days ago. Nottingham Forest have lost six of their 10 Premier League home games this season (W3 D1), already one more than they lost at the City Ground in the whole of last season (W9 D5 L5). Only one of Arsenal’s away league matches has featured over 4.5 goals this season.

Prediction: Nott’m Forest 0-2 Arsenal (7/1 with BOYLESports)

Wolves vs Newcastle – Sunday 18 January – 2:00pm

Wolves have been much improved in recent weeks under Rob Edwards. Although avoiding relegation may be out of the question, the hosts can take something against a Newcastle side who have struggled on the road this season. The Old Gold are unbeaten in their last three league outings after a point against Everton and Manchester United and a win against West Ham. It’s also worth noting that Newcastle have had less time to prepare for this game after an exhausting League Cup semi-final against Manchester City on Tuesday.

Prediction: Wolves 2-2 Newcastle (16/1 with BOYLESports)

Aston Villa vs Everton – Sunday 18 January – 4:30pm

Sometimes the best bet is the most simple one and backing Villa to win here looks the wise option. Unai Emery’s men have won their last eight consecutive home league matches and 11 across all formats. Everton are missing key players such as Ndiaye and Dewsbury-Hall and have been poor in recent weeks. It’s also worth noting that none of Villa’s home league matches this season have featured over four goals.

Prediction: Aston Villa 4-0 Everton (18/1 with BOYLESports)

Brighton vs Bournemouth

Brighton are unbeaten in their last three home meetings with Bournemouth and  have lost just two of their last 18 Premier League home games (W10 D6), with both defeats in that time coming against Aston Villa. Bournemouth have won just one of their last 12 and will now be dealing with the loss of Antonie Semenyo to Manchester City.

Prediction: Brighton 3-2 Bournemouth (22/1 with BOYLESports)
