Brazilian Serie A analysis: Talents that have gone under the radar in 2025 and their Premier League comparisons

The curtain has come down on the 2025 Brazilian Serie A and a few unknown players have stated their case as potential future Premier League stars.

The Premier League is already set to welcome a relatively unknown young talent from the Brazilian Serie A. According to multiple reports, Aston Villa have agreed on a deal to sign 19-year-old Alysson from Gremio.

His physical frame and style of play even look a lot like the earlier version of current Villa star Morgan Rogers, back when he was mostly a winger during loan spells with Bournemouth and Blackpool.

Everyone knows about the Flamengo, Palmeiras, Botafogo and Fluminense players as they were all in the revamped Fifa Club World Cup earlier this year, so we decided to bring other talents from Brazil that may have gone under the radar and could join English football in the future – plus a Premier League comparison for each one.

Rayan (Vasco) – Antoine Semenyo

Vasco have been a bit of a mess for a few years now. And despite losing half of their games in the 2025 Brazilian Serie A and finishing 14th, they still find themselves in the Copa do Brasil final.

A huge reason for that has been the performances of 19-year-old wonderkid Rayan. He scored in the first leg of the semi-final and was Camisas Negras’ best player in the second leg. In the league, he netted 14 goals in 34 games while switching between right-winger and striker duties.

At 6’1”, he has great size and strength, but is also very technical. Rayan excels at running at full speed with the ball at his feet and taking defenders on. He never shies away from the game and has a wicked left foot capable of scoring from any distance.

He also has the ability to contest aerial duels and help his team get out from the back quickly. It’s not their preferred way of reaching the attacking half, but a useful weapon to have as a plan B. A lot of his traits are similar to what Antoine Semenyo brings to Bournemouth. At just 19, he really does have limitless potential.

Key stats:

  • 34 games (32 starts)
  • 14 goals (Ranked #4)
  • 92 shots (Ranked #3)
  • 39 shots on target (Ranked #3)
  • 10/16 big chances scored

Jhon Jhon (Red Bull Bragantino) – Jack Grealish

Another player to have graduated from the Palmeiras academy like Endrick and Estevao before him, Jhon Jhon actually found his best form away from the Sao Paulo club.

After a couple of years of underwhelming performances in the first team there, Red Bull Bragantino took a gamble on his talent. It has paid off greatly so far as they saw him become one of the best players in the league this season.

He is still just 23 years old and has already developed into a complete attacking midfielder – showing a lot of the traits that Jack Grealish showed for Aston Villa in 2019/20. He has a preference for starting from the left and cutting inside, working well in tight spaces and is used to being the team’s focal point.

He also draws fouls well and oozes technical quality to get out of tricky situations and take defenders on, which would make him an ideal fit for several Premier League teams.

Key stats:

  • 34 games (34 starts)
  • 10 goals
  • 7 assists
  • 94 chances created (Ranked #1)
  • 86/157 take-ons attempted (Ranked #1 in both)
  • 56 crosses completed (Ranked #2)

Kaiki (Cruzeiro) – Lewis Hall

2025 was Kaiki’s first full season as a starter for Cruzeiro. He is a very understated, ‘jack of all trades’ kind of player. Not exceptional at one specific thing – but solid in every department.

Kaiki mainly hugs the touchline and plays out wide, but is technical enough to underlap or sit deeper and tuck inside during high build-ups. He defends well and is an ever-present in all phases of the game.

Newcastle United’s Lewis Hall comes to mind when trying to identify a player comparison. The 22-year-old Brazilian left-back has a rather refined game for his age and looks ready to take a leap into European football.

Key stats:

  • 34 games (34 starts)
  • 98 tackles (Ranked #2 overall)
  • 5 assists (Ranked #5 among defenders)
  • 41 shots (Ranked #2 among defenders)
  • 8 big chances created (Ranked #4 among defenders)

Kaio Jorge (Cruzeiro) – Ollie Watkins

Kaio Jorge shone for Santos in 2020, but things had gone wrong for him from 2021 onwards. He failed to adapt to Italian football following spells at Juventus and Frosinone and dealt with constant injuries that hampered his development.

He then returned to Brazil in 2024 and scored just two goals in 16 games for Cruzeiro. When it looked like there was no coming back for him, he turned it around finding the net an impressive 21 times in the 2025 Serie A.

The striker led the league in scoring and also provided eight assists for his teammates this term. It remains to be seen whether he can maintain his form next year to prove he isn’t just a ‘one season wonder’ – but what he showed this year looks a lot like what Ollie Watkins did for Aston Villa between 2023 and 2025.

This season has been a tough one for the English striker, but he recorded 35 goals and 21 assists in 75 games for the Villans over the last two full Premier League seasons.

Their styles are also similar: two out-and-out strikers with great sense of positioning, who are always looking for runs in behind and playing on the last shoulder.

It’s soon to talk Premier League regarding Kaio Jorge, but he is still just 23 years old. A few more seasons replicating his goalscoring form from 2025 could see him landing in England in the future.

Key stats:

  • 33 games (33 starts)
  • 21 goals (Ranked #1)
  • 99 shots (Ranked #1)
  • 46 shots on target (Ranked #1)
  • 8 assists (Ranked #2)
  • 8 big chances created (Ranked #1 among strikers)

Luciano Juba (Bahia) – Myles Lewis-Skelly/Oleksandr Zinchenko

This is probably a name no football fan in England has ever heard of. Luciano Juba spent the first four years of his professional career as an attacking-midfielder at Sport, a team that is always yo-yoing between the top two tiers of Brazilian football.

He is now a complete left-back who even got in Carlo Ancelotti’s list as a replacement in the November international break.

His tactical versatility has come in handy as he is used in a number of different ways. The 26-year-old can sit as a covering centre-back in the first phases of build-up, take a step forward and act like an inverted full-back or hug the touchline and overlap like a wing-back.

While he’s not the most solid one-on-one defender, he is very disciplined and committed to tracking back and staying in shape defensively.

Former legendary goalscoring goalkeeper and now manager Rogerio Ceni has turned Luciano Juba into one of Bahia’s main focal points – and he has excelled in this role.

It’s also a very unique way of utilising a full-back, which makes comparing him to Premier League players a harder task. Think of the Myles Lewis-Skelly, Oleksandr Zinchenko archetype (midfielder-turned-inverted-left-back with more attacking involvement and scoring prowess).

Key stats:

  • 35 games (33 starts)
  • 6 goals (Ranked #2 among defenders)
  • 38 shots (Ranked #3 among defenders)
  • 9 big chances created (Ranked #2 among defenders)
  • 2,310 touches (Ranked #6 overall)
