Leeds and West Ham kick-off Gameweek 9 under the Elland Road lights on Friday night. The hosts will be aiming to snap a two-game Premier League losing streak, while the visitors continue their search for a first win under Nuno Espirito Santo.
There’s no early kick-off on Saturday, but the afternoon brings a pair of 3pm fixtures featuring Chelsea and Newcastle, followed by two televised evening clashes: Manchester United taking on Brighton, and Brentford hosting Liverpool.
There’s a stacked Sunday card containing four 2pm games, then Everton vs Tottenham rounds off the weekend in the 4:30pm slot.
Read on for our list of statistics and stories that could happen in gameweek 9.
Stats you might see
Nuno seeks Uno win
- Nuno Espirito Santo could become the first West Ham manager since Manuel Pellegrini to fail to win any of his first four Premier League games.
West Ham are 19th in the table with just four points from their opening eight games. The Hammers sacked Graham Potter at the end of September after nine months in charge, swiftly replacing him with former Nottingham Forest boss Nuno Espirito Santo.
The Portuguese coach, who did a simply superb job in charge of the Tricky Trees, has yet to sprinkle his managerial magic on the hopeless Hammers, who have picked up just one point from nine under his watch.
Failure to beat Leeds on Friday would see him become the first West Ham manager since Manuel Pellegrini in September 2018 to go winless in his first four Premier League games.
Ironically, the Iron’s only Premier League win this season came against Nuno’s Nottingham Forest side.
Fortress Bridge
- If Chelsea beat Sunderland they will have more home points in 2025 than any other Premier League club.
Chelsea have hit form with four straight wins in all competitions, three of those coming on home turf against the likes of Benfica, Liverpool, and Ajax.
Stamford Bridge has become somewhat of a fortress in 2025 with the Blues collecting 10 wins, three draws, and just one defeat from 14 Premier League home games, earning 33 points in the process.
A victory over new boys Sunderland on Saturday would catapult Chelsea to 36 home points for the year – more than any other top-flight side.
Nick of time
- Nick Woltemade can become only the fourth Newcastle player to score five Premier League goals inside his first six games.
Nick Woltemade continued his fine form with a third consecutive goal last weekend, bringing his tally to four goals in his first five Premier League appearances.
Only three players have ever scored five goals in six or fewer games for the Magpies – Loic Remy, Les Ferdinand, and Papiss Cisse – and Woltemade can join this group by finding the back of the net yet again this weekend when the Toon host an off-colour Fulham.
Bogey team Brighton
- Brighton can become the first club in Premier League history to win four consecutive games against Manchester United at Old Trafford.
Manchester United have found momentum under Ruben Amorim, recording back-to-back league victories for the first time following wins over Sunderland and rivals Liverpool.
However, if the Red Devils are to make it three on the bounce they must overcome bogey side Brighton, who have won six of the last seven league meetings between the sides, including each of their last three trips to Old Trafford.
Should Brighton return south with the spoils on Saturday night then they will become the first club to ever win four straight Premier League games away to Man United.

Five star Isak?
- Alexander Isak will be looking to score his fifth goal in five appearances against Brentford.
Liverpool bounced back in style from their recent wobble, hammering Frankfurt 5-1 in Germany in a match that saw Florian Wirtz register his first goal contributions for the Reds since the Community Shield.
Fellow mega-money new signing Alexander Isak has struggled to adjust to life on Merseyside, scoring just once in eight games – against Southampton in the cup – while he’s yet to open his account in the Premier League this season.
However, Isak will hope his luck changes on Saturday against a club he has a very successful streak against, having scored in each of his four meetings against Brentford. No player has a better 100% scoring rate against a club in the Premier League.

Defence wins titles
- Arsenal can become the second side in Premier League history to go three games without facing a single shot on target.
Arsenal’s impressive start to the season has been anchored by a rock-solid defence, with the Gunners conceding only three goals in their opening eight league games, while they’ve kept a further four clean sheets in cup games.
Mikel Arteta’s side haven’t faced a single shot on target in either of their last two Premier League matches. If they manage to repeat that feat against Crystal Palace on Sunday, they’ll become just the second team on record (since 2003-04) to go three consecutive league games without allowing a single effort on goal.
Man City were the first to do this back in 2014.
Haaland on the hunt
- Erling Haaland can become only the fourth player to have scored in a club’s opening five away games of a Premier League season.
Erling Haaland hit double figures for Premier League goals after he bagged a brace in last weekend’s 2-0 win against Everton. He then scored the opener in the midweek 2-0 win away to Villarreal to extend his astonishing tally to 24 goals in 14 games for club and country this season.
Haaland has found the net in all four of City’s league away games so far (five goals) and will look to extend that run when he visits Aston Villa on Sunday. If he scores again, he’ll become only the fourth player to score in a club’s first five away fixtures of a Premier League season, following in the boots of Thierry Henry (2001–02), Mo Salah (2021–22), and Jarrod Bowen (2023–24).
Debut Dyche to the rescue?
- Sean Dyche can win more away games in charge of Nottingham Forest this season than both Nuno Espirito Santo and Ange Postecoglou combined (0).
Sean Dyche will become the third manager to take charge of Nottingham Forest in the Premier League game this season when he sits in the dugout for their trip away to in-form Bournemouth.
Forest are in desperate need of a spark, having mustered a meagre five points from their opening eight league games and failed to register a single win under Ange Postecoglou across eight league and cup games.
If Dyche can guide his former club to victory on the south coast, he’ll instantly surpass both of his predecessors – Nuno Espirito Santo and Postecoglou – by winning more away games for the Tricky Trees this season than the pair combined (zero).
Wolves desperate to avoid historic double whammy
- If Wolves fail to beat Burnley they will be only the third club in English football history to fail to win any of their opening nine league games in back-to-back top-flight seasons.
Wolves remain desperate for their first Premier League victory this season. After losing their opening five matches, the Midlands side showed brief signs of revival with consecutive draws, only to fall 2-0 to Sunderland in their latest outing.
Sitting rock-bottom with just two points, Wolves now face Burnley at Molineux in what already appears to be a crucial early-season six-pointer. Failure to win would see Wolves become only the third club in English football history to go winless in their opening nine league games in back-to-back top-flight seasons after Bury (1904-05/1905-06) and Sunderland (2015-16/2016-17).
No place like away
- Tottenham can match their club record of 13 points from their opening five Premier League away games.
We round the weekend off at the dazzling new Hill Dickinson Stadium where Everton host Tottenham.
Tottenham have started brightly under Thomas Frank, especially on the road, where they’ve secured a league-high 10 points from their first four away games, which includes an impressive 2-0 victory at the Etihad.
A win on Sunday would see Spurs match their club record of 13 points from the opening five away fixtures of a Premier League season, set by the 2020-21 side.
On top of that, Tottenham would make history as the first away team to claim victory at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.
