Both teams to score4/5 @ Betfred
(55.6%)
⭐⭐⭐⭐Both teams scored in the reverse of this fixture last month in Cologne. Northern Ireland actually haven’t failed to score in any of their last six games, racking up a total of 15 goals in that time. The Green and White Army are enjoying some of their best attacking form in years of late while Germany have kept just one clean sheet in their last eight games.
Joshua Kimmich over 0.5 shots on target17/10 @ BetMGM
(37%)
⭐⭐⭐Both Germany full-backs were among the shots against Luxembourg, with David Raum taking two shots at goal but Joshua Kimmich on the other side of the defence taking a total of five shots, four of which were on target and two of which resulted in goals. Expect him to test Bailey Peacock-Farrell plenty of times in this game.

How both teams go into Northern Ireland vs Germany

Northern Ireland are in a fairly strong position in their quest to qualify for the World Cup for the first time since 1986. A 1-3 away win in Luxembourg in their first match set them in good stead, although the defeat in the reverse of this fixture in Cologne did come as something of a setback.

It was at least a setback they faced few problems in bouncing back from as they secured a 2-0 win over Slovakia on Tuesday night thanks to a goal from Trai Hulme and an own goal from Patrik Hrosovsky.

Germany will have expected to win this group without any setbacks of their own, so a 2-0 defeat to Slovakia on Matchday One will have come as a huge shock. That win over Northern Ireland last month was followed up with a 4-0 demolition of Luxembourg on Friday night though, leaving die Mannschaft in a much better position.

Group A is very delicately poised at this stage, with both of these teams on six points, with Slovakia also on the same amount of points and Luxembourg proving to offer little of a threat to any of their opponents so far.

Northern Ireland team news

Northern Ireland have been dealt a huge blow with Conor Bradley, the team’s star performer in that win over Slovakia, being suspended for this game with Oxford United’s Brodie Spencer expected to take his place.

Promising young goalkeeper Pierce Charles has missed out on this squad through injury alongside Kilmarnock midfielder Brad Lyons.

Germany team news

Germany are missing a handful of expected starters from this squad with Kai Havertz, Jamal Musiala, Antonio Rudiger, Niclas Fullkrug and Marc-Andre ter Stegen not travelling to Belfast for this game.

Die Mannschaft could also be without defender Nico Schlotterbeck who was withdrawn at half-time of the win over Luxembourg.

Conclusion

Northern Ireland have an excellent chance to at least secure a play-off spot, but this is their toughest remaining fixture and they’ll be without their star man in Conor Bradley. That said, they’ve been scoring plenty of goals recently, so we can see them getting on the scoresheet at least here, just like they did in Cologne last month.
