Manchester United welcome Burnley to Old Trafford in the Premier League on Saturday 30th August at 3pm. Ruben Amorim’s side will be looking to record their first home win of the season.
Bryan Mbeumo to score anytime (7/4 with BetMGM)
There are huge expectations on Mbeumo to deliver following his big-money move from Brentford. However, he more than held his own on his debut against Arsenal, and it took an inspired defensive display from the Gunners to prevent him marking his bow with a goal. Mbeumo will be eager to build on that momentum against Burnley, and he shall fancy his chances of getting on the scoresheet here.
Mbeumo has yet to find the net for his new club since his move to the North West but a home game against Burnley represents a good opportunity to get off the mark for the Red Devils.
Man Utd to win by two goals (10/3 with BetMGM)
United were held to a 1-1 draw by Burnley when the sides last met in April 2024, though the Red Devils do generally boast a decent record in the head-to-head. In fact, they have lost just once in the last 18 meetings, and twice overall since 1969. Meanwhile, eight of their last 12 victories over the Clarets have been by a two-goal margin.
Man Utd’s embarrassing defeat to Grimsby in the week should fuel the fire ahead of this weekend’s game and Man Utd will be keen to grab a statement win against a side they really should be beating.

How both teams go into Manchester United vs Burnley
Both sides made losing starts to the new Premier League season.
Despite a positive attacking display, United were edged out by Arsenal at Old Trafford, while Burnley’s return to the top flight began with a 3-0 defeat at Tottenham.
The Red Devils may have come up short in their opener, but there were plenty of reasons for Amorim to be optimistic – mainly the performances of new signings Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha.
They were unable to turn that performance into a victory though and it was a similar story in their second game against Fulham where they were only able to claim a point in a 1-1 draw.
After Burnley – along with Leeds United – finished well clear of the chasing pack in the Championship last season, they were given a stark reality check at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
That stubborn defensive platform that served them so well in the second tier is always going to be difficult to repeat at the higher level.
Nevertheless, that character will serve Scott Parker’s side well in their bid to avoid an immediate return to the Championship. They certainly showed that character in their second game of the season when they beat Sunderland 2-0, getting their first points on the board as a result.
Manchester United team news
United will have Noussair Mazraoui available for selection after a thigh injury. Meanwhile, Lisandro Martinez remains the Red Devils’ only long-term absentee, as he continues to recover from a knee problem.
Burnley team news
Burnley were without Connor Roberts, Armando Broja and Axel Tuanzebe for the start of the season but both Broja and Tuanzebe should be back for this one. Zeki Amdouni and Manuel Benson are long-term absentees.
Manchester United vs Burnley head-to-head
United have won five of their last seven meetings with Burnley, whose 2-0 victory in January 2020 represents their only win at Old Trafford in the last 60 years.
