Arsenal legend Thierry Henry has spoken about the expectations for the upcoming season and said that ‘something has to happen’.
The Gunners have improved over the years with Mikel Arteta at the helm, finishing 2nd in the Premier League for three straight years. Last season also saw them going further in the UEFA Champions League, getting knocked out by eventual champions Paris Saint-Germain in the semifinals.
However, the fans still feel like there should be more to celebrate than just being competitive and ultimately falling short in their quest for meaningful trophies. Former player and club legend Thierry Henry seems to share this line of thinking.

In an interview for the Betway Insider blog, he addressed Arsenal’s famous ‘process’. The four-time Premier League Golden Boot winner said: “It’s been a thing for a very long time, but this year I think is going to be the year where something has to happen. Even fans that don’t follow Arsenal are asking, can you win a title? That’s going to be the question.”
In addition, Henry explained why getting a win over Manchester United on opening day could be the difference for a successful season.
“There is a lot on the game, and we all know that it’s only the beginning, but if you don’t start well, questions are going to be raised straight away because of what’s been happening recently”, he said.

Henry: Fans need to be patient with Gyokeres
The Arsenal legend also talked about the Gunners’ main signing of the current transfer window – and acknowledged the ‘power’ of his words. Viktor Gyokeres arrived from Sporting for a reported £55 million and will wear the famous No.14.
“It’s always unfair because when I talk about a striker, it brings an unnecessary pressure” he said.
“What I would say about Gyokeres is that he is a proper number nine.”
“You have a guy that’s a killer in the box – numbers don’t lie – and you have a team that creates a lot of chances, so it should be the perfect match, but you have to also understand that sometimes it doesn’t click straight away”, he added.
Henry highlighted Gyokeres’ mentality as an aspect of his game that has impressed him, too.
“He already was in England, let’s not forget that. He was at Coventry, he couldn’t do it at Brighton, so you can see a guy who already knows what struggling is and comes back from that.”
But ultimately, decided to not make any predictions and showed caution ahead of Gyokeres’ expected Gunners’ debut against Manchester United on Sunday.
“I love when people show me what they can do, and then I can talk. Right now, people love to talk before the performance.”
