Bournemouth vs Wolves predictions, odds, betting tips and team news

Andoni Iraola will be leading his pillaged Bournemouth side in their first home game of the season, as Vitor Pereira’s Wolves come to town. The game will take place at the Vitality Stadium on the 23rd of August, kicking off at 15:00.

Both teams to score (4/6 with BetMGM)

With Bournemouth’s defence being completely new look compared to last season and Wolves enduring plenty of change too, I’m expecting both teams to score in this one. Bournemouth started the season conceding four goals against champions, Liverpool but found the net twice themselves, whilst Wolves were down 4-0 by Man City.

That leads us to think there could plenty of goals in this one as both teams try and bounce back from their opening weekend losses.

Over 2.5 goals (3/4 with BetMGM)

A complementary bet that works well with our first tip could be the over 2.5 goals market. As discussed above, both teams conceded plenty of goals last week and we feel that could continue into the second weekend of the season. Bournemouth looked really good in attack last weekend, with Antoine Semenyo in particular looking sharp and getting on the scoresheet twice.

Before Wolves were taken apart by Man City they looked dangerous too, with offside calls stopping them from opening the scoring on two occasions. If they can carry that form into this fixture then we can definitely see the over 2.5 goal line being breached in this one.

How both teams go into Bournemouth vs Wolves

Bournemouth didn’t enjoy the opening weekend of the season, falling to a 4-2 loss against Liverpool. The Cherries were 2-0 behind before fighting back to 2-2 though, showing plenty of grit against the reigning Premier League champions. Two late goals proved to be their undoing though, with Federico Chiesa and Mo Salah striking late to secure Liverpool the victory.

There was plenty to take heart from in the defeat though. Semenyo looked to have carried over his form from last season into the new campaign and several other players looked good as Bournemouth took the game to Liverpool in the second half.

Wolves, on the other hand, won’t be as happy following their opening weekend defeat by Man City. Despite a strong early showing, where Wolves nearly took the lead twice, they were ultimately dismantled by Man City and struggled to keep their key players quiet in a resounding loss.

This form carried over from pre-season where Wolves went winless. Not too much should be gleamed from pre-season but it’s a worrying start to the season for Pereira’s side and he’ll be keen to get some points on the board as quickly as possible to relive some of the pressure on his side, who have been tipped by many to struggle this season.

Bournemouth team news

Iraola will be without several stars, as Enes Unal, Lewis Cook, Luis Sinisterra and Ryan Christie all remain out. Justin Kluivert is currently being assessed but looks unlikely to feature, especially not from the start.

Wolves team news

Pereira will be without Leon Chiwone as he continues his rehab from an ACL injury, whilst Jose Sa is being assessed after an eye injury but should be fine to keep his place in goals. There are small doubts over Yerson Mosquera, and Fabio Silva.

Bournemouth vs Wolves head to head

In their last five Premier League clashes, the head to head stats are even, with both teams winning two and one ending in a draw.
