Mercedes-Benz Stadium: History
Mercedes-Benz Stadium is fairly new as far as stadiums go, opening in 2017. It’s the home of Major League Soccer side Atlanta United — champions in 2018 — and the NFL’s Atlanta Falcons, replacing the Georgia Dome.
Outside of MLS, the stadium has hosted a handful of friendly games, including Chelsea against Newcastle United in 2023. The stadium was used for two group stage games at the 2024 Copa America and six matches at the 2025 Club World Cup.
Mercedes-Benz Stadium also hosted the Super Bowl in 2019 and will do so again in 2028. The likes of Taylor Swift, Beyonce, Ed Sheeran, Elton John and The Weeknd have all played concerts at the stadium.
