2026 World Cup games at Lumen Field
Lumen Field is one of only two stadiums at World Cup 2026 guaranteed to host a USA fixture, along with SoFi Stadium in Inglewood. The Seattle ground will play host to USA’s second game of the tournament in Group D on 19th June, which is against Australia.
The first match that the stadium will play host to will be in Group G on Monday 15th June, and it will also serve as the venue for a Matchday Three game in that same group on Saturday 27th June. The only other group stage game to take place at Lumen Field will be in Group B on Wednesday 24th June, as Bosnia-Herzegovina go up against Qatar.
The Washington ground will also take two knock-out stage games, as the Group G winner will face one of the best third-placed teams in the round of 32 on 1st July, before a round of 16 game on 7th July, which will be the last of the competition to take place at this venue.

Lumen Field History
Having served as home of the Seattle Sounders since 2009, Lumen Field is one of the stadiums at the 2026 World Cup with genuine football history behind it — and not just football of the gridiron variety.
This was the home of the Sounders for their 2016 and 2019 MLS Cup wins, and their 2022 CONCACAF Champions League victory, and the stadium has also played host to NWSL outfit Seattle Reign since 2022.
The stadium actually opened in 2002, seven years prior to the Sounders’ move, as the home to NFL side Seattle Seahawks. Fans of the Seahawks have twice set the Guinness World Record for the loudest crowd roar at an outdoor stadium, showing that the atmosphere at this particular ground has the potential to get raucous over the course of the World Cup.
Aside from the Sounders and the Reign, Lumen Field has played host to several more football fixtures, including the 2010 and 2011 US Open Cup finals, several CONCACAF Gold Cup matches, the Copa America Centenario in 2016 and one USMNT qualifier against Panama in 2013.
The stadium was one of the host venues for the 2025 Club World Cup, hosting six games including the Sounders’ matches against PSG and Atletico Madrid, with a new grass surface installed over the usual artificial one.
