Scotland and Iceland go head to head in a friendly at Hampden Park on Friday 6th June at 8pm. Both teams begin preparations for their World Cup qualifying campaigns, which begin in September. This game will be broadcast live on BBC One Scotland.
Scotland to win & under 4.5 goals (19/20 with Betway)
Iceland have lost four of their last five matches, with defeats against Turkey, Wales and twice against Kosovo in March, losing 5-2 over two legs in the Nations League playoffs. Historically, Iceland have struggled against Scotland, losing all of their six encounters and Steve Clark will be targeting a win here to build confidence ahead of their World Cup qualifying campaign. With Scott McTominay and Billy Gilmour back from winning the league with Napoli, the hosts can put in a professional performance and win the game. Taking them to win and under five goals being scored looks the sensible approach into the markets.
John McGinn to score anytime (7/1 with Paddy Power)
John McGinn often takes up a more attacking role for his national side than when playing for Aston Villa. The Scot has an impressive record of 20 goals in 75 appearances for Scotland and has scored in two of his last four, with strikes against Croatia and Poland in the Nations League. The Paddy Power traders appear to have been incredibly generous with a massive 7/1 on show for him to score anytime against Iceland. All other bookmakers have McGinn picked around the 2-1 to 5-2 region to get his name on the scoresheet, so take advantage of this inflated offering.

How both teams go into Scotland vs Iceland
Both teams are seeking a positive response having suffered Nations League relegations last time out.
Scotland were demoted to League B after a disappointing 3-1 aggregate defeat by Greece who, along with Denmark and Belarus, will provide their opposition in World Cup qualifying Group C.
As for Iceland, they dropped into League C after losing to Kosovo. Arnar Gunnlaugsson’s side will play France, Ukraine and Azerbaijan in World Cup qualifying Group D, as they seek their second appearance in the finals.
Scotland team news
Steve Clarke has named seven uncapped players in his squad, including Hibernian forward Kieron Bowie. The more experienced likes of John McGinn, Andrew Robertson and Scott McTominay have also been included, while Tierney will earn his 50th cap for Scotland should he appear.
Iceland team news
Former Charlton and Burnley midfielder Johann Berg Gudmundsson – now plying his trade with Saudi Pro League side Al-Orobah – could earn his 100th cap, and become his nation’s fifth centurion. Meanwhile, Real Sociedad forward Oskarsson will more than likely lead the line.
Scotland vs Iceland head to head
Scotland have won all six previous meetings between nations, albeit the most recent showdown was back in April 2009.
