Serie A is stereotypically the league for defensive masterclasses, so it is no surprise that there are a number of top-level goalkeepers in the Italian top flight.
After six goalkeepers kept 10+ clean sheets in 2023-24, we had another defensive masterclass this time around. Nine goalkeepers hit double-figures on shutouts, with title-winner Alex Meret and Roma’s Mile Svilar leading the way on 16. Closely behind was Juventus stopper Michele Di Gregorio on 14, while Atalanta’s Marco Carnesecchi and experienced Inter gloveman Yann Sommer both clocked up 13 clean sheets.
Of course, goalkeeping is about more than just clean sheets. Saves matter too. Five goalkeepers broke 100 for saves in Serie A this season, with Vanja Milinkovic-Savic coming out on top on 135. Lecce’s Wladimiro Falcone was second with 129, while Svilar (118), Lorenzo Montipo and Zion Suzuki completed the top five — the latter two both making 100 saves.
