Chelsea look to overcome the might of Real Madrid when they travel to the Santiago Bernabeu on Wednesday evening.

Things didn’t get off to a brilliant start for Frank Lampard in his second spell in charge at Stamford Bridge, with Wolves running out 1-0 winners at the weekend, and this represents an even bigger challenge for the Blues. A trip to the Bernabeu is never an enviable proposition but off the back of major upheaval in the dugout, as well as just one win in their last five games, makes things look even less appealing for Chelsea.
One thing that Lampard does have in his favour is the return of N’Golo Kante to the squad. The Frenchman didn’t play a part at Molineux at the weekend but that was a precautionary measure, ensuring he could start in this encounter. There could also be a return to the squad for Mason Mount, who also missed out on Saturday. He’s less likely to feature, with the England midfielder still feeling some discomfort in his pelvic area when training in recent days.
Both Thiago Silva and Cesar Azpilicueta remain sidelined through injury, with neither able to take part in this match, leaving the Blues lacking their much-needed experience in their back line. Armando Broja also won’t feature with his knee injury keeping him out until next season.
