Bruno Guimaraes’ first goal for Newcastle helped them come from behind to beat Southampton 1-2.
The Saints took the lead in the first-half through Stuart Armstrong, but Chris Wood equalised less than 10 minutes later before Bruno’s game-winning masterpiece at the start of the second-half.

That goal gave Newcastle a massive win as they look to climb the table away from the spectre of relegation. In fact the win was their sixth in their last seven games (with the other result being a 1-1 draw with West Ham).
On the whole, the Magpies have been really impressive in 2022. In fact with Eddie Howe steering the ship, Newcastle have picked up 20 points in the Premier League since the turn of the year.

Looking across Europe’s top five leagues, only Liverpool have done better (with 22 points) and Newcastle have won as many points as Barcelona and have more than the likes of RB Leipzig, Atlético Madrid and Juventus (both 19) plus Milan and Napoli (both 18).
The goal itself was sheer magic. A booming corner went over everuone to the far post where the colossal Dan Burn (who else?) rose to head it back across goal. Bruno Guimaraes was waiting but moving away from goal.
Rather than accept the chance was lost, Bruno went for an audacious Zlatan-vs-Italy style mid-air backheel volley, catching the ball just right to loop it up and over the massive Fraser Forster before the big man could even react.
It was an absolutely preposterous way to score your first goal for your new club, and it was the cap to an all-action display from the Brazilian that saw him rack up 3 shots, take 52 touches, complete 21 passes, 1/1 take-ons, and made 2 clearances and 1 interception.
