Crystal Palace will be on the lookout for a new manager with popular boss Oliver Glasner set to depart the club at the end of the season.
An FA Cup winner during his time at Selhurst Park, Crystal Palace fans will be devastated by Oliver Glasner’s admission that he will no sign a new contract with the Eagles this summer.
Glasner said: “A decision has already been taken, months ago. I had a meeting with Steve [Parish] in October, the international break. We had a very long talk, and I told him I will not sign a new contract” reported Sky Sports on Friday.
While the Austrian has not gone into the reasons behind his departure, the club do look set to lose captain Marc Guehi to Manchester City in this January window and he has appeared exasperated with the club’s transfer business during his time with the club.

Jose Bordalas
Getafe manager Jose Bordalas is the bookmakers’ early favourite to take the Crystal Palace job as the Selhurst Park hierarchy may look further afield than the Premier League after Glasner made such a success of the role.
At the time of writing, Azulones sit 12th in the Spanish top tier with Bordalas’ intense, high-energy approach keeping them clear of the relegation battle. While not the most attractive style of play in Spain, Bordalas has won plaudits for making his team as difficult to beat as possible – but that has understandably drawn criticism from other quarters too.
The 61 year old has been in management for over 30 years now in a career that’s taken in spells with Elche, Alaves and Valencia before he returned to Getafe for a second spell in 2023.
Inigo Perez
Another La Liga boss being linked with the upcoming vacancy at Selhurst Park is Rayo Vallecano’s Inigo Perez. The 37 year old has similarities with Bordalas in style, but perhaps looks to press higher up the pitch and take more risks in the style of his mentor and former coach Andoni Iraola.
Perez was actually due to join Iraola at Bournemouth initially, but instead took the head coach role at Estadio de Vallecas and the club have continued to perform above expectations since he took over. As things stand they sit 10th in La Liga despite a short budget in comparison to most of their top-tier rivals.
An Athletic Bilbao midfielder during his playing days, Perez has a 37.93% win record in La Liga during his spell with Franjirrojos and he won the league’s Manager of the Month award in October. He led the team into Europe for only the second time in their history thanks to last season’s displays and they look well set to progress to the Conference League Round of 16 with 13 points from their first six games.
Kieran McKenna
If Palace are to look a little closer to home for their next manager, Kieran McKenna could be well placed to take the vacant manager’s position at Selhurst Park.
It’s clear from these shortlisted managers that Palace are looking to continue with Glasner’s high-pressing style even after his departure and McKenna is another manager who fits that mould having overachieved in leading Ipswich Town to the Premier League in 2023/24.
The former Manchester United youth coach is a modern, attack-minded boss who encourages his teams to play on the front foot with energy and confidence. That could make the transition from Glasner relatively easy if this is the path that Palace choose to take.
