Wolves vs Everton prediction, stats, tips & team news

Wolverhampton Wanderers and Everton will be looking to go into the international break on a high when they meet at Molineux on Saturday 30th August at 3pm. Find our match preview and prediction below, along with our best bets that can be backed with BetMGM.

Jack Grealish Anytime Assist (4/1 with BetMGM)

Jack Grealish was handed his first start Everton since making the switch from Manchester City last weekend, and the 29-year-old made an immediate impact for his new employers. Grealish set up both goals in the 2-0 win over Brighton last Sunday and was confidently running at players and constantly getting into dangerous positions. In his final season with Villa, Grealish managed 10 assists, a total that he could well eclipse this term with David Moyes on Merseyside.

Matt Doherty to be carded (3/1 with BetMGM)

Matt Doherty has been shown a yellow card in both of his league appearances so far this term for Wolves and the chances of him making it three in a row could be bigger than what the odds suggest. The main reason for this is that Doherty will be tasked with taking control of the dangerous Jack Grealish, who can be an absolute foul magnet. Doherty struggled against Antonie Semenyo last weekend and found his way into the book, and a repeat is worth backing here on Saturday.

How both teams go into Wolves vs Everton

Vitor Pereira’s first full season at Wolves got off to the worst possible start. They opened at home to Man City but were thrashed 0-4 to sit bottom of the table. They then suffered a 1-0 defeat on the road to Bournemouth in gameweek 2, but were not helped by Toti Gomes being sent off early into the second half. Wolves will now be hoping to avoid back-to-back home defeats to start the campaign for the second season running. And last season they actually lost their opening four league matches at Molineux. Wolves are also winless in their past three at home, losing two alongside one draw.

Everton suffered late on in their opening game of the season. The Toffees fell to Leeds as a result of a late penalty, a decision that split opinion. However, they made the best possible start to life in their new stadium with a convincing 2-0 win over Brighton last Sunday and will be looking to follow up here. Everton haven’t lost back-to-back away matches in the league since September 2024, a run of three that spanned two seasons. But, of course, that was under Sean Dyche.

Wolves team news

Wolves will welcome back Toti Gomes after suspension, with the defender having served his ban during the midweek clash against West Ham following his red card at Bournemouth.

That game also saw Vior Pereira rotate his squad, resting several regulars, including Joao Gomes, David Moller Wolfe, and Marshall Munetsi, who should all return refreshed for this fixture.

Up front, Strand Larsen is still expected to lead the line despite ongoing speculation over a move to Newcastle before the transfer deadline. The Norwegian striker remains keen on the switch, but for now, he looks set to keep his place in the starting XI.

Everton team news

David Moyes rotated his squad for the midweek cup tie, but he is expected to restore many of the players who featured in last Sunday’s win over Brighton.

One likely alteration comes at left-back, with Vitaliy Mykolenko fit again after a short spell out. His return would push James Garner back into his more natural midfield role, meaning Tim Iroegbunam could make way.

In attack, Thierno Barry is set to retain his place after starting the last two matches and impressing with flashes of quality that earned praise from pundits. Even with Beto finding the net as a substitute on Wednesday, Barry looks likely to keep his spot in the X

Wolves vs Everton head-to-head

Everton took four points from their two league games against Wolves last season, including a 4-0 home win. It ended a run of six without victory for the Toffees in this fixture.
