The 2019/20 Champions League has finally reached its long-awaited conclusion, with Bayern Munich scooping a sixth European crown.
Portugal’s mini-tournament was a scintillating feast of goals and excitement, and featured a new finalist in the form of Paris Saint-Germain, but Thomas Tuchel’s side were unable overcome Champions League veterans Bayern Munich.
The most iconic result was, without question, Bayern’s 8-2 mauling of Barcelona, with Robert Lewandowski adding to his impressive goal and assist tallies with one of each, while he also netted once again in the semi-final against Lyon.
A lot of the focus was obviously drawn to the goalscorers, but those setting them up deserve some praise, too.
Angel Di Maria was unable to influence the showpiece in Libson but he did finish as the tournament’s top assist provider with six to his name. Lewandowski and Kylian Mbappe both had a chance to move level with the Argentine on Sunday, but it was Joshua Kimmich who provided the only assist at the Estadio da Luz.
