What three weeks show
Two hundred and sixty-three yards on 14 catches is a big-play line rather than a volume one, and it is the version of Kincaid that Buffalo drafted in the first round. He is still averaging 18.8 yards a reception after three games, a figure he has never come close to across a full season. The 130-yard opener at Houston and the 95 yards and a touchdown against Detroit did the heavy lifting; two catches for 38 against the Chargers was a quiet afternoon in a game Buffalo won without their passing game.
His usage has moved the wrong way since his rookie year. He caught 73 passes in 2023, then 44 and 39 in the two seasons after, missing games in both. Three weeks in, the picture is less emphatic than it looked. Fourteen catches projects to about 79 across a season, barely above the 73 of his rookie year, where after two games it projected to 102. One quiet week moved it that far, which is the honest measure of how little three games tells you.
The touchdown column is the one to watch. Five scores in 12 games last season was comfortably his best rate, and a tight end who gets red-zone looks from this quarterback carries obvious value in scorer markets.
Buffalo’s offence runs through the quarterback more than almost any other, which cuts both ways for a tight end. The targets are high-value when they come, but they compete with a deep receiving group and with the quarterback’s own rushing near the goal line.

Dalton Kincaid stats by season

|---|---|---|---|---|

Across these four seasons Kincaid has caught 170 passes for 1,955 yards and 10 touchdowns in 44 games. The rookie year remains his high-water mark for volume, which is unusual for a first-round tight end and is the reason his 2026 usage is worth watching more closely than his efficiency.
The Canadian connection
Kincaid holds dual Canadian and American citizenship, which is how he appears on Canadian rosters of NFL players rather than by birth in Canada. He went to Utah and Buffalo took him 25th overall in 2023, the highest any player on the Canadian list was drafted until this year. He catches passes from Josh Allen, and our Canadians in the NFL tracker follows all 28 Canadians on NFL rosters this season.
