How to watch Arsenal vs Brentford Live

The London derby between Arsenal and Brentford will be broadcast live on Sky Sports Main Event and Sky Sports Premier League in the UK at 5:30pm on Saturday 9th March.

A battle for London

Arsenal have title aspirations this season and are in a good position to challenge for top spot, keeping very close to Liverpool and Manchester City. The Gunners know they can ill afford to drop points in games like this, but there may be a slight reason for Arsenal fans to be a bit nervous.

Looking at the Premier League this season, you’d expect Arsenal to be top of the London mini-league. Of course, if you just look at London teams’ performances across the season, they are the highest-placed team in the capital. But when you only take into account games between London teams, the Gunners are second. Surprisingly, Chelsea (16) have won more points in London derbies than the Gunners (15) this season, and they’ve played one game fewer.

Arsenal’s 15 points have come from four wins, three draws and two defeats, and it’s the makeup of those points that might be a cause for concern. So far this season, Arsenal have played Fulham, Tottenham, West Ham and Crystal Palace at the Emirates, only needing to welcome Brentford and Chelsea. From those four games, Arsenal have won five points — winning just once. The Gunners drew with Fulham and Tottenham before losing 2-0 to West Ham just after Christmas. The victory finally came against Crystal Palace, an emphatic 5-0 thrashing in January.

Brentford, meanwhile, have won 11 points from their eight London derbies this season, winning three, drawing two and losing three. Two of those wins did come away from home too, with Brentford beating Fulham and Chelsea on the road. However, they also lost away to Crystal Palace and Tottenham, taking the lead against both sides.

Arsenal vs Brentford match tip

Highest scoring half: Second @ 21/20 by BetGoodwin

Arsenal are the second-highest scorers in the Premier League this season, and a good part of that is down to the way they play in the second half of their matches. The Gunners have an intensity that their opponents just can’t match, dominating the first half and then remaining in control after half time, picking off teams as they tire. Of Arsenal’s 68 Premier League goals this season, 38 have come in the second halves of their matches, with only Liverpool (41) netting more after the break. At the same time, Brentford struggle in the second half, conceding 28 goals after the break compared to 18 before it.

Of course, that doesn’t mean Arsenal are incapable of scoring in the first half, as they well proved against Sheffield United on Monday.

Arsenal’s home form has them quite clear favourites for this particular London derby. The Gunners have won 10 of their 13 Premier League games at the Emirates this season, including each of the past three. However, it’s worth noting that the three games they failed to win were all London derbies. Brentford, meanwhile, have lost eight away league matches, four without scoring.
