From the Manchester United academy to Barcelona
Rashford burst onto the scene in February 2016, scoring twice on both his Europa League and Premier League debuts as an 18-year-old. He has since made more than 400 appearances and scored over 130 goals for United, winning two FA Cups, two League Cups and the 2016-17 Europa League. After a dip in form and a loan to Aston Villa in early 2025, he joined Barcelona on a season-long loan for 2025-26.
More than a footballer
Rashford is also one of the game’s most prominent off-pitch figures, awarded an MBE in 2020 for his campaigning against child food poverty during the pandemic, which forced UK government U-turns on free school meals.
Marcus Rashford at the World Cup 2026
Rashford has been an impact option for England so far, scoring off the bench in the 4-2 win over Croatia and featuring across the group stage as the Three Lions reached the Round of 32. Alongside Harry Kane, Jude Bellingham, Bukayo Saka and Declan Rice, he gives manager Thomas Tuchel serious attacking depth to call on.
Why Marcus Rashford is a must-watch
Quick, direct and a threat from the left or through the middle, Rashford remains one of England’s most dangerous forwards — and a World Cup on home-continent soil is the stage to rediscover his best.
