Full NHL team stats for the 2026-27 season, ranked across all 32 clubs and rebuilt from the league’s own feed as games are played.
The NHL team stats below cover scoring, shots, possession, one-goal games, what happens when a team scores first, period-by-period goals, and the physical numbers. Special teams get their own page at NHL power play rankings, and our NHL power rankings is where we rank the clubs by judgement rather than by one column.
NHL team stats 2026-27
It’s 2 games into the season, so treat everything in this table as provisional. One bad night moves a per-game rate further now than a month will in January. Nothing here is worth acting on until clubs clear about 20 games, and the 2025-26 tables below have the sample to carry a conclusion.

Shot share: who controlled play
Shot-attempt share, the metric usually called Corsi, is the share of all attempts at even strength that belonged to that team. Above 50% means it had the puck more than its opponents did. It travels from season to season better than a record does, which is why it is the first number to look at when a team’s results and its play disagree.
| Team | Shot-attempt share | Shots for/g | Shots against/g | 5-on-5 sh+sv |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1. Carolina Hurricanes | 59.1% | 32.2 | 23.9 | 98.4 |
| 2. Colorado Avalanche | 56.4% | 33.7 | 26.1 | 102.1 |
| 3. Tampa Bay Lightning | 53.0% | 28.1 | 26.7 | 101.9 |
| 4. Utah Mammoth | 52.9% | 27.7 | 26.1 | 100.3 |
| 5. Ottawa Senators 🇨🇦 | 52.6% | 28.9 | 24.4 | 99.3 |

| 28. Dallas Stars | 47.1% | 25.3 | 26.2 | 102.4 |
| 29. San Jose Sharks | 47.0% | 25.8 | 29.6 | 99.8 |
| 30. Vancouver Canucks 🇨🇦 | 46.9% | 26.0 | 29.8 | 97.4 |
| 31. Seattle Kraken | 46.0% | 25.6 | 29.5 | 101.1 |
| 32. Chicago Blackhawks | 46.0% | 24.6 | 30.0 | 99.6 |
| 33. Toronto Maple Leafs 🇨🇦 | 45.5% | 26.3 | 32.4 | 100.3 |
Carolina led the league at 59.1% and won the Stanley Cup. Read it next to the standings, not in place of them: a club can control play for six months, run into a hot goaltender in April and go home early, which is roughly the story of half the teams in the top ten here. At the bottom, Toronto finished on 45.5%. That is a long season.
The last column adds 5-on-5 shooting percentage to 5-on-5 save percentage. Almost every club lands between 98 and 102, so a team outside that band has usually been lucky or unlucky instead of good or bad.
One-goal games
Close games are where seasons are decided and where the puck line is priced. A club that wins two-thirds of its one-goal games is doing something, though how much of it repeats is the oldest argument in hockey analytics.
| Team | One-goal record | Win rate |
|---|---|---|
| 1. Carolina Hurricanes | 24-4 | 68.6% |
| 2. Florida Panthers | 21-6 | 67.7% |
| 3. Anaheim Ducks | 24-6 | 66.7% |
| 4. New Jersey Devils | 20-8 | 64.5% |
| 5. San Jose Sharks | 22-5 | 62.9% |
| 6. New York Islanders | 27-11 | 62.8% |
| … | ||
| 29. Vegas Golden Knights | 16-10 | 37.2% |
| 30. Chicago Blackhawks | 13-8 | 37.1% |
| 31. Edmonton Oilers 🇨🇦 | 13-11 | 37.1% |
| 32. New York Rangers | 11-12 | 34.4% |
| 33. Pittsburgh Penguins | 12-7 | 34.3% |
Carolina went 24-4 in one-goal games. Nobody else got near it, and it’s most of the gap between that record and the rest.
What happens when they score first
This is the table to read before betting a live line. Every club here scored first in at least 30 games last season, and what they did next ranged from winning more than four in five to winning fewer than half.
| Team | Win rate scoring first | Win rate trailing first | Games scoring first |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1. Colorado Avalanche | 84.0% | 40.6% | 50 |
| 2. Buffalo Sabres | 81.8% | 36.8% | 44 |
| 3. Tampa Bay Lightning | 81.6% | 43.2% | 38 |
| 4. Dallas Stars | 81.0% | 40.0% | 42 |
| 5. New Jersey Devils | 79.4% | 31.2% | 34 |
| 6. Edmonton Oilers 🇨🇦 | 75.0% | 26.2% | 40 |
| … | |||
| 29. St. Louis Blues | 57.4% | 28.6% | 47 |
| 30. Calgary Flames 🇨🇦 | 53.8% | 30.2% | 39 |
| 31. Chicago Blackhawks | 48.9% | 18.9% | 45 |
| 32. Toronto Maple Leafs 🇨🇦 | 47.4% | 31.8% | 38 |
| 33. Vancouver Canucks 🇨🇦 | 40.6% | 24.0% | 32 |
Colorado won 84.0% of the games it scored first in. Vancouver won 40.6%. Both played 82 games. A one-goal lead isn’t the same asset in every building.
Goals by period
Third-period scoring separates the clubs that close games from the ones that let them go.
| Team | 1st | 2nd | 3rd | 1st conceded | 3rd conceded |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Vegas Golden Knights | 62 | 86 | 108 | 80 | 61 |
| Carolina Hurricanes | 97 | 80 | 105 | 64 | 89 |
| Washington Capitals | 68 | 87 | 102 | 62 | 89 |

| Calgary Flames 🇨🇦 | 59 | 77 | 69 | 70 | 96 |
Hits, blocks and giveaways
Hits and blocked shots are counted by human scorers in each building, so they carry a known home bias and read better as style than as quality. Giveaways are different. They cost possession directly, and they’re counted the same way everywhere.
| Team | Hits | Blocked shots | Giveaways |
|---|---|---|---|
| New York Rangers | 2112 | 1176 | 1190 |
| Florida Panthers | 2024 | 992 | 1129 |

| Vancouver Canucks | 25-49-8 | 58 | 46.9% (29) | 15-9 | 40.6% |
Ottawa had the best shot share of the Canadian clubs at 52.6%. At the other end, the Canucks won only 40.6% of the games they led first, the lowest figure in the league.
Where these NHL team stats come from
Every figure here is pulled from the NHL’s own statistics feed and rebuilt as the season goes. Rates are per game unless the column says otherwise, and shot-attempt share is measured at even strength.
Two cautions. Early-season rates swing hard on tiny samples, which is why the live table carries a warning until clubs clear 20 games. And hits, blocks and giveaways are recorded by scorers in each arena rather than by a camera, so they vary by building.
For special teams, see NHL power play rankings. For individual scoring, the NHL scoring leaders page carries the Art Ross and Rocket Richard races. Prices sit on the NHL odds page.
Carolina Hurricanes at 59.1% of even-strength shot attempts, the best in the league. Toronto Maple Leafs were last at 45.5%.
Anything above 50% means a club had the puck more than its opponents. Above 53% across a full season is strong, and only a handful of clubs manage it.
Carolina Hurricanes went 24-4 in one-goal games last season, a win rate of 68.6%. How much of it carries into a new season is an old argument, so it reads better as what happened than as what will.
The league’s own statistics feed, rebuilt through the season. Rates are per game unless the column says otherwise, and shot-attempt share is measured at even strength.
It rebuilds from the NHL feed through the season. Rates on small samples are unreliable, so the live table is flagged until clubs have played around 20 games.
This page is raw numbers for all 32 clubs, sorted by whichever column you want. Power rankings are our judgement of how good each team is, which weighs several of these numbers together along with form and injuries.
