NHL trade rumours: the weekly trade board

Updated Monday, 26 October 2026. Every rumour on this page is credited to the named reporter who broke it, with a link to the original. Reported means a named insider has said it. It does not mean a trade will happen.

These are the NHL trade rumours that matter this week: the players most likely to move, who reported it and when, and the latest on each of the seven Canadian clubs. The board is rebuilt every Monday. It lists eight players this week, one of them with a public trade request. Completed deals live on our NHL trade tracker. 19+ (18+ in AB, MB and QC).

This week in NHL trade rumours

  • Winnipeg traded Connor Hellebuyck to New Jersey on Friday, 23 October, the day his suspension ended. The Jets got Dawson Mercer, Nico Daws, Nick Bjugstad, prospect Alexander Command and two draft picks. The deal is on our NHL trade tracker.
  • Dylan Larkin’s approved list now runs to 10 teams, none of them Canadian, TSN’s Chris Johnston reported. Pierre LeBrun says Detroit is still scouting Montréal in case that changes.
  • Pittsburgh’s Kyle Dubas is listening on Bryan Rust, Rickard Rakell, Kris Letang and Erik Karlsson, TSN’s Darren Dreger reported on 22 October.
  • Washington has given Ivan Miroshnichenko permission to talk to other teams, Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman reported on Saturday.
  • Daily Faceoff’s Anthony Di Marco reported that the Flyers could explore a Travis Konecny trade even as results improve, and that Owen Tippett draws more calls.
  • Off the board: Connor Hellebuyck (traded).
  • This is the first edition of the board.

The NHL trade board

The eight players below are ranked by how close a trade looks on what has been reported, not on what we think should happen. A public request and active talks rank highest, and a club saying no is noted against the player. Names link to our full story where we have one.

#PlayerContractWhat has been reportedStatus
1Dylan LarkinDetroit, C, 30US$8.7M to 2030-31, no-trade clauseDetroit has been scouting the Canadiens in person in case he adds Montréal, and his agent, Pat Brisson, has told the Red Wings he wants this to get going. (Pierre LeBrun, TSN, 22 Oct)His approved list is now 10 teams, all places he believes he can win, and none of them is in Canada. New Jersey, Washington and Utah are on it. (Chris Johnston, TSN, 22 Oct)Detroit wants three or four pieces: two A-grade prospects, a top-nine forward who can play now and a first-round pick. (Darren Dreger, TSN, 15 Oct)Montréal is not on his list, but the Canadiens would be ready to talk to Detroit if he changed his mind. (Pierre LeBrun, TSN, 13 Oct)Trade request
2Rickard RakellPittsburgh, RW, 33US$5M to 2027-28, modified no-trade clauseGeneral manager Kyle Dubas is listening on Rust, Rakell, Kris Letang and Erik Karlsson, but is working to a tight internal budget as well as the salary cap. (Darren Dreger, TSN, 22 Oct)Pittsburgh tried to add him to a package for Kirill Marchenko before Columbus traded Marchenko to Toronto. (Elliotte Friedman, Sportsnet’s 32 Thoughts podcast, via Pro Hockey Rumors, 20 Oct)The Penguins are willing to move a veteran forward for picks and prospects, to open up ice time for younger players. (Elliotte Friedman, Sportsnet, 17 Oct)Reported
3Bryan RustPittsburgh, RW, 34US$5.125M to 2027-28General manager Kyle Dubas is listening on Rust, Rakell, Kris Letang and Erik Karlsson, but is working to a tight internal budget as well as the salary cap. (Darren Dreger, TSN, 22 Oct)Friedman named him among the veterans the Penguins would part with as they get younger. (Elliotte Friedman, Sportsnet’s 32 Thoughts podcast, via Pro Hockey Rumors, 20 Oct)Reported
4Ivan MiroshnichenkoWashington, LW, 22US$0.925M to 2027-28The Capitals have given the young winger permission to talk to other teams. They will not put him on waivers and want a real return in any trade. (Elliotte Friedman, Sportsnet’s Saturday Headlines, via RMNB, 24 Oct)Reported
5Travis KonecnyPhiladelphia, RW, 29US$8.75M to 2032-33, modified no-movement clauseWith the Flyers winning again and a logjam on the wing, there is now a belief the club could explore a trade even if results keep improving. (Anthony Di Marco, Daily Faceoff, 20 Oct)Friedman is skeptical the Flyers will ask him to waive his clause. He thinks general manager Daniel Brière is trying to be smart and “not walk himself into a bad move because of pressure.” (Elliotte Friedman, Sportsnet, 15 Oct)Sources describe growing frustration inside the organization, and asking him to waive his no-movement clause could become an option if the struggles continue. (Anthony Di Marco, Daily Faceoff, 13 Oct)Reported
6Owen TippettPhiladelphia, RW, 27US$6.2M to 2031-32, modified no-trade clauseTeam sources say the Flyers have had more calls on him than on Konecny. He has a 10-team no-trade list. (Anthony Di Marco, Daily Faceoff, 20 Oct)Reported
7Simon EdvinssonDetroit, D, 23Unsigned restricted free agentAfter meeting interim GM Shawn Horcoff, he feels a trade is probably the most logical option but has not formally asked for one. Up to 10 teams are in talks, including San Jose and Boston. (Pierre LeBrun, TSN, 20 Oct)He has left Sweden for North America to work on his game shape, which is not necessarily a sign of a contract breakthrough. He must sign by 1 December to play this season. (Chris Johnston, TSN, 13 Oct)The unsigned restricted free agent would prefer a trade. (Elliotte Friedman, Sportsnet, 3 Oct)Detroit’s interim general manager, Shawn Horcoff, said on 14 October that the club has no interest in trading him.Reported
8Connor ZaryCalgary, C, 25US$3.775M to 2027-28; US$2.55M counts against Calgary’s cap while he is in the AHLVancouver is among several teams believed to be interested, though nothing looks imminent. (Elliotte Friedman, Sportsnet, 10 Oct)He cleared waivers on 6 October and is playing for the AHL’s Calgary Wranglers.Cooling

Ranked by how close a trade looks on the reporting so far. Contract: the average annual cap hit and the last season of the deal, from CapWages, in US dollars. Each report links to the original. Players drop to Cooling after 14 days without a new report and leave the board after 21.

Pittsburgh has two players on the board for the same reason. The Penguins are 5-6-1 after 12 games, with more losses than wins, and Rickard Rakell and Bryan Rust are both in the last two seasons of their contracts, so a buyer would not be taking on long-term money.

Canadian club trade rumours

Pick a club to see what has been reported about it, who it has on the board and the trades it has made in the last 30 days. Winnipeg has moved on from Connor Hellebuyck. Montréal is still watching Dylan Larkin, even though he has left every Canadian club off his list, and Toronto still wants a difference-maker on defence. Calgary’s slow start has its veterans in the trade conversation, Vancouver has been linked to Connor Zary, and nothing new has been reported on Edmonton or Ottawa.

Maple Leafs trade rumours

The Leafs have told teams they do not want band-aid fixes on the blue line and will part with a premium asset for a difference-maker. They could also move an older player for a younger one. (Elliotte Friedman, Sportsnet, 17 Oct)

Chris Tanev is out week-to-week. (Darren Dreger, TSN, 15 Oct)

Trades in the last 30 days: 15 Oct: got Aatu Räty (C) from Vancouver for Brandon Buhr (RW), Jacob Quillan (C); 28 Sep: got Kirill Marchenko (RW), Miles Wood (LW), Elvis Merzlikins (G) from Columbus for Matthew Knies (LW), Steven Lorentz (C), Emil Andrae (D), 2027 2nd-round pick.

Schedule, roster and injuries: the Toronto team page. Every completed deal: the NHL trade tracker.

Canadiens trade rumours

Detroit has been scouting the Canadiens in person in case Dylan Larkin adds Montréal to his list. LeBrun added that Nick Suzuki’s injury has no bearing on the club’s interest. (Pierre LeBrun, TSN, 22 Oct)

Captain Nick Suzuki is out two to four weeks with an upper-body injury, the first NHL games he will miss in his career. (Chris Johnston, TSN, 22 Oct)

Montréal would be ready to engage on Dylan Larkin if he had a change of heart about his list. The Canadiens can also afford to wait, with prospect Michael Hage due to join at the end of the season. (Pierre LeBrun, TSN, 13 Oct)

Trades in the last 30 days: 9 Oct: got 2027 2nd-round pick from Nashville for Jayden Struble (D).

Schedule, roster and injuries: the Montréal team page. Every completed deal: the NHL trade tracker.

Oilers trade rumours

Nothing on the Oilers made this week’s board.

Trades in the last 30 days: 7 Oct: got Filip Hallander (C) from Pittsburgh for Spencer Stastney (D).

The Canucks are among the teams interested in Calgary’s Connor Zary. (Elliotte Friedman, Sportsnet, 10 Oct)

Trades in the last 30 days: 15 Oct: got Brandon Buhr (RW), Jacob Quillan (C) from Toronto for Aatu Räty (C).

Schedule, roster and injuries: the Vancouver team page. Every completed deal: the NHL trade tracker.

Flames trade rumours

In an analysis of Calgary’s trade assets, Gould rated defenceman Zach Whitecloud and centre Morgan Frost as the club’s most sought-after pieces if the Flames sell. (Mike Gould, Daily Faceoff, 15 Oct)

The Flames have talked internally about unsigned free agent Patrik Laine but want to look at their young players first. That would be a signing, not a trade. (Pierre LeBrun, TSN, 6 Oct)

On the board: Connor Zary (No. 8, cooling).

Trades in the last 30 days: none.

Schedule, roster and injuries: the Calgary team page. Every completed deal: the NHL trade tracker.

Jets trade rumours

After trading Connor Hellebuyck, general manager Kevin Cheveldayoff said he wished a deal had been done months ago and put the delay down to how hard it is to move a goaltender. The Jets see a bigger role for Dawson Mercer, including penalty-kill time. (TSN.ca staff, TSN, 23 Oct)

Trades in the last 30 days: 23 Oct: got Dawson Mercer (C), Nicolas Daws (G), Nick Bjugstad (C), Draft Choice forward Alexander Command (F), 2029 2nd-round pick, 2027 7th-round pick from New Jersey for Connor Hellebuyck (G).

Schedule, roster and injuries: the Winnipeg team page. Every completed deal: the NHL trade tracker.

Senators trade rumours

Open NHL trade requests

One player has asked to be traded and has not been moved: Dylan Larkin. Simon Edvinsson is reported to want a trade but has not asked formally. The full status of each, checked on 26 October, is in the open requests table on the tracker.

When is the 2027 NHL trade deadline?

Michael Russo of The Athletic reported in July that the 2027 deadline falls on Monday, 1 March 2027 (via Daily Faceoff). That is 126 days, about 18 weeks, from this edition. The league has not published the date, so treat it as reported until it does. Last season’s deadline was Friday, 6 March 2026 at 3 p.m. ET.

Most of the season’s trading happens in the final week before the deadline, and this board will run twice a week from February. The trade tracker explains retained salary, clauses and the holiday roster freeze.

Betting on NHL trade rumours

Rumours can move futures prices before any trade is made. When a contender is linked to a goaltender like Hellebuyck, its Stanley Cup price can shorten on the report alone, and it can drift back if the deal never happens. A bet on a rumour is really two bets: that the trade goes through, and that it changes the team. Our Stanley Cup odds page tracks the futures board, and the futures betting guide explains how season-long markets settle.

How we report NHL trade rumours

Named reporters only

Every line credits the insider who reported it, the outlet and the date, and links to the original. When a story reaches us through an aggregator, the aggregator is linked and the original reporter is credited. Anonymous social accounts and headlines on their own never count.

What the tags mean

Trade request means the player has asked to be moved and it is public. Reported means a named insider has said it. Speculation marks a columnist’s analysis rather than news. Cooling means 14 days have passed without a new report.

When a player comes off

A player leaves the board after 21 days with no new report. He also comes off straight away if he is traded, when he moves to the trade tracker, or if the report is withdrawn. If we get something wrong, we correct it and say so.

NHL trade rumours FAQ

Who is on the NHL trade block right now?

As of 26 October, the players most often reported as trade candidates are Dylan Larkin (Detroit), Rickard Rakell (Pittsburgh), Bryan Rust (Pittsburgh), Ivan Miroshnichenko (Washington), Travis Konecny (Philadelphia), Owen Tippett (Philadelphia), Simon Edvinsson (Detroit) and Connor Zary (Calgary). Dylan Larkin has asked to be traded; the others have been reported by named insiders.

When is the 2027 NHL trade deadline?

Michael Russo of The Athletic reported in July that it falls on Monday, 1 March 2027. The NHL has not published the date yet, so treat it as reported until the league confirms it. Last season’s deadline was Friday, 6 March 2026.

Has Connor Hellebuyck been traded?

Yes. The Winnipeg Jets traded him to the New Jersey Devils on Friday, 23 October, the day his suspension ended. Winnipeg received forwards Dawson Mercer and Nick Bjugstad, goalie Nico Daws, the rights to prospect Alexander Command, a 2029 second-round pick and a 2027 seventh-round pick. The full deal is on our NHL trade tracker.

What does a no-movement clause mean for a trade?

A no-trade clause stops a player being traded without his consent. A no-movement clause goes further and also stops him being waived or sent to the minors without agreeing to it. Only veterans can have either: players aged 27 or older, or with seven accrued seasons.

How does Squawka report NHL trade rumours?

Only from named reporters. Each line credits the insider, the outlet and the date and links to the original, and stories picked up by aggregators are credited to the reporter who broke them. Being on the board is not a prediction that a deal happens, and players come off it after 21 days without a new report.

How often is the NHL trade board updated?

Every Monday, with smaller edits between editions when a big story breaks. Completed trades go on our NHL trade tracker, which updates twice a day.
