NJ Online Casinos 2026: Every Legal New Jersey Casino Site and App, Ranked

New Jersey has 28 legal online casino sites, all approved by the Division of Gaming Enforcement (DGE) for players 21+ who are physically in the state. BetMGM Casino is our top pick: a $10 deposit earns up to 1,000 bonus spins with no wagering on winnings. FanDuel Casino is the biggest, with 22.5% of 2026 online win.

New Jersey’s online casinos won $274.8 million in September 2026, up 13.0% on a year earlier and more than the nine Atlantic City casino floors combined ($227.8 million). Michigan is now the bigger market, though, with $300.2 million in iGaming gross receipts that month.

Every offer below comes from the casino’s own New Jersey terms, and every New Jersey revenue figure from the DGE.

21+ and physically in New Jersey to play. Offers checked on each casino’s New Jersey page on October 23 and 24, 2026. Squawka may earn a commission from partner links, which doesn’t affect our ratings.

Best NJ Online Casinos, Ranked

BetMGM Casino is the best NJ online casino for most players, ahead of Fanatics, FanDuel, DraftKings and Caesars Palace. I ranked the 10 below on four things: what the welcome offer is worth after its wagering and time limits (from each casino’s New Jersey terms), App Store and Google Play ratings, each brand’s size and growth in the DGE’s revenue tables, and the payment details the casino publishes. The box above shows only the casinos we have partner links with, so its order isn’t this ranking. New Jersey is one of seven states with live real-money online casinos, and our US online casinos guide covers the others.

1. BetMGM Casino: Best Overall

BetMGM Casino gives you 100 bonus spins for a first deposit of $10, then 100 more on each of the next nine days you log in, up to 1,000. Winnings from the spins carry no wagering requirement, and each batch is valid for 3 days. You also spin a wheel once a day for 7 days, for a deposit match of up to $200 (15x within 14 days) or 500 BetMGM Rewards Points. Deposits above $10 earn no extra spins, and the offer runs to March 14, 2027. BetMGM is New Jersey’s third-biggest brand, with 12.8% of 2026 online win, and its iPhone app is rated 4.72 from 148,057 ratings. I rank it first because the spins pay out without a playthrough and the deadline is months away.

2. Fanatics Casino: Fastest-Growing NJ Brand

Fanatics Casino lists three welcome offers for new NJ players, none of which needs a promo code. Wager $5 in cash on any Fanatics Casino game within 30 days of registering for 100 bonus spins a day for 10 days on 7’s Fire Blitz Hotstepper 2, or wager $10 for 150 a day for 10 days on Spooky Link. Spin winnings are paid as cash with no playthrough, but each day’s spins expire at 11:59 p.m. ET, and the terms say both spins offers are for “select new customers”. The third option returns 100% of your first-24-hour net casino losses as Casino Credit, up to $1,000, with a 1x playthrough and a 7-day expiry, until December 1, 2026. Fanatics runs under the Bally’s Atlantic City permit, and its NJ win rose 108% in the first nine months of 2026 and 187% in September alone.

3. FanDuel Casino: Biggest NJ Online Casino

FanDuel Casino is New Jersey’s biggest online casino: it won $57.8 million in September 2026 and holds 22.5% of the state’s 2026 online win, according to the DGE. Its NJ welcome offer is 1,000 bonus spins on Huff N’ Puff slots plus a $25 casino bonus for a $5 deposit. The spins arrive 50 a day over 20 days, carry a 1x playthrough and expire 7 days after each batch lands, and the $25 site credit also lapses after 7 days. The offer ends November 2, 2026, and you don’t qualify if you’ve ever wagered on FanDuel Sportsbook, FanDuel Casino, Betfair Casino or Mohegan Sun Casino. FanDuel’s own NJ marketing page still shows an older offer, so go by the terms on the casino site.

4. DraftKings Casino: Spins or Lossback, Your Choice

DraftKings Casino is No. 2 in New Jersey with 17.6% of 2026 online win, and its welcome offer gives you a choice. Play $5 and get 1,000 Flex Spins, paid 50 a day for 20 days: the first 100 are worth $0.50 each and the other 900 are worth $0.20, a face value of $230. Or take 100% of your net losses on eligible games for 24 hours back, up to $1,000 in Crown Cash with a 1x playthrough. Each day’s spins expire 24 hours after they’re issued, so you need to log in daily. The offer runs to November 22, 2026 and needs no code. I’d take the spins unless you plan a big first session, because spin payouts go to your cash balance. DraftKings runs under Resorts Casino Hotel’s permit and also owns Golden Nugget Online Casino and Jackpocket.

5. Caesars Palace Online Casino: $10 No-Deposit Bonus

Caesars Palace Online Casino has the only no-deposit cash bonus we found in New Jersey: $10 on select slots once you register and verify your ID, with a 1x playthrough within 7 days. A first deposit of $10 or more then earns a 100% match up to $1,000 on select slots, plus 2,500 Caesars Rewards Reward Credits once you wager $25. The match is the hard part: 15x within 7 days, so a full $1,000 bonus means $15,000 of slot play in a week. Deposits by PayNearMe or at a casino cage don’t qualify. The promo code is WELCOME, and the NJ landing page adds it for you. Caesars Palace runs under the Tropicana permit, shares its DGE entry with Horseshoe Online Casino and took 7.0% of 2026 NJ online win.

6. Borgata Online Casino: 5x Deposit Match

Borgata Online Casino lets you pick your welcome bonus on a first deposit of $10 or more: a 100% match up to $500 with a 5x wagering requirement on Borgata slots, or 20 bonus spins for every $10 deposited, up to 200 on a $100 deposit. Either way, you then spin a wheel daily for 8 days for 50 to 125 bonus spins a time, up to 1,000, with no wagering on spin winnings. The offer runs July 1 to December 31, 2026. A 5x playthrough on $500 is $2,500 of slot play, which is light for a match this size. Borgata is a BetMGM joint-venture brand under Borgata’s own permit, with 8.1% of 2026 NJ online win and an iPhone app rated 4.72 from 53,203 ratings.

7. Hard Rock Bet Casino: Up to $1,000 Lossback

Hard Rock Bet Casino pairs 500 bonus spins with a slots lossback. A single $10 deposit gets you 500 spins on Cash Eruption at $0.20 each ($100 in total), valid 7 days, with winnings paid as cash. Then 100% of your net cash losses on slots in the 24 hours after your first cash slot wager come back as a casino bonus, up to $1,000, with a 1x playthrough within 14 days. Table games, video poker and live dealer games don’t count, and you need at least 10 separate wagers with no single wager above 50% of your net loss. Hard Rock Bet doesn’t use promo codes. Its NJ site listed 4,816 games on October 23, 2026, and its win grew 25.5% year over year in September.

8. bet365 Casino: Two-Hour Withdrawal Target

bet365 Casino’s NJ welcome package is a 100% deposit bonus up to $1,000 on a $10 minimum deposit, plus up to 1,000 spins. Tick the “Claim” box when you deposit, then wager the bonus 15 times on eligible slots within 30 days. The spins come from 10 picks on separate days within 20 days, each worth 50, 75 or 100 spins at $0.10, with no wagering on winnings. Each pick has a 50% chance of 50 spins and a 15% chance of 100, so the full 1,000 needs ten 100-spin picks. Deposits by paysafecard or Trustly Card don’t qualify, and the matched bonus can be claimed until December 29, 2026. bet365 says it aims to process withdrawals in two hours and lists debit card, online banking, Venmo and PayPal at 1 to 4 hours. It’s small in New Jersey, with 1.3% of 2026 online win, but its win grew 52.8% in September.

9. PlayStar Casino: 25+ Welcome Offer

PlayStar Casino is a New Jersey-only casino under Ocean Casino Resort’s permit, and its welcome offer has the strictest terms on this list. You get a 100% match up to $500 plus up to 500 free spins, but only if you’re 25 or older, make a first deposit of at least $20 within 7 days of registering, and wager the bonus 30 times within 30 days. Table and live games count 0% toward that. The spins, worth $0.10 each, are paid across your first three deposits: 100 after the first, then up to 200 after each of the next two, once you’ve deposited and wagered $20 each time. Spin winnings are paid as cash. PlayStar shares its DGE entry with Jackie Casino, a sister brand launched in 2026.

10. Wheel of Fortune Casino: $40 for $10

Wheel of Fortune Casino gives new players $40 in bonus dollars for a first deposit of $10 or more. The playthrough is 5x on Wheel of Fortune Casino slots, so $200 of play clears it, but Jackpot Slots don’t count and you have 7 days from when the bonus lands. The offer runs to December 31, 2026 and is NJ only. BetMGM runs the casino under Borgata’s permit, and its NJ iPhone app is rated 4.74 from 3,275 ratings. It’s a small brand, with 0.3% of 2026 NJ online win, and I’d pick it for a low-stakes start rather than as a main casino.

New Jersey has 28 authorized online casino sites, run under nine Atlantic City casino permits. The DGE authorized-sites list names every one, and the DGE says any site not on it is not approved to offer internet gaming in the state. The table sorts them by online win in January to September 2026, from the DGE’s September 2026 brand table.

Other lists put the count anywhere from 25 to 33 because they count different things. Our 28 is the number of entries on the DGE’s authorized list, and the table has one row for each. Three entries carry a second brand name (Horseshoe with Caesars Palace, Hollywood Casino with theScore Bet, and Jackie Casino with PlayStar), so you’ll see 31 brand names in all, but the DGE reports each pair’s revenue as one brand. PokerStars dropped off the list after its poker moved inside FanDuel on April 1, 2026, and ESPN Bet became theScore Bet on December 1, 2025. Virgin Casino, Unibet, SugarHouse (now BetRivers), WynnBet, 888casino and Betfair Casino still turn up on some NJ lists, but none of them is on the DGE’s authorized list.

NJ Online Casino Bonuses and Promo Codes

Most NJ online casino bonuses need no promo code: of the 25 casinos whose New Jersey offer pages we could read, only Caesars Palace (WELCOME), Horseshoe (SHOEHSH), Ember (MATCH100) and BetRivers ask for one. The offers come as deposit matches, bonus spins and lossbacks, which refund part of your first-day losses as bonus money. Our casino bonuses guide explains how wagering requirements work. Dollar figures in parentheses show the play needed to clear a full bonus.

We couldn’t read a current New Jersey welcome offer for Golden Nugget, Resorts Casino, Mohegan Sun, theScore Bet or Hollywood Casino when we checked on October 23 and 24, 2026, so they aren’t in the table. Golden Nugget’s site blocked our connection, Resorts’ and Mohegan Sun’s promotions pages didn’t load and their terms sites list several overlapping welcome offers, and theScore Bet and Hollywood Casino show promotions only after you log in. Check the current offer on the casino’s own site before you sign up.

No-Deposit Bonuses in New Jersey

Three New Jersey casinos give you something for signing up without a deposit. Caesars Palace Online Casino credits $10 on select slots after you register and verify your ID (1x within 7 days), and Horseshoe Online Casino credits 125 bonus spins on registration with code SHOEHSH, with winnings at 1x on slots or 2x on other games within 5 days. Stardust Casino gives 50 bonus spins on Cash Eruption, worth $0.20 each, if you select its offer when you register, and pays their winnings as cash with no playthrough. Its terms run to December 31, 2026. partypoker NJ says a $25 tournament ticket and a $5 SPINS ticket are credited “following a successful sign-up”, but its registration steps tie the package to a deposit, so we don’t count it. BetMGM, FanDuel, bet365 and Fanatics run free daily games for account holders, which aren’t sign-up bonuses. We found no other no-deposit offer on the NJ pages we could read.

What to Check Before You Claim

These are the problems we found on NJ casinos’ own offer pages on October 23 and 24, 2026. When a casino’s terms contradict themselves, I’d plan around the less generous reading.

  • PlayStar’s welcome offer, Jackie Casino’s welcome spins and Vegas Club’s lossback are only for players 25 and older, even though the legal age is 21.
  • Caesars Palace gives you 7 days to play a full $1,000 match through 15 times, which is $15,000 of slot play. Fanatics’ daily spins expire at 11:59 p.m. ET the day they land, and DraftKings’ expire 24 hours after issue. betOcean’s clock is tighter still: 25x within 48 hours, so a full $1,000 bonus means $25,000 of slot play in two days.
  • BetRivers’ offer panel tells you to use code WELCOME, while its homepage advertises CASINOBACK. Ask support which one applies before you deposit.
  • An old Borgata promo page still advertises “100% deposit match up to $1,000 plus $20 free on sign up!”, but its own terms ran from November 27, 2023 to December 31, 2024. FanDuel’s own NJ marketing page also shows an older offer and names Pennsylvania’s regulator, the PGCB.
  • Tropicana’s slot bonus terms say the offer is for “invited patrons” and give 5 days in one clause and 7 in another. Borgata’s match expires 14 days after registration but asks for the wagering within 7 days of activation. PartyCasino’s headline says 200%, while its claim steps describe a match equal to the deposit.
  • Caesars Palace and Tropicana won’t pay their match on PayNearMe or casino cage deposits, and bet365 excludes paysafecard and Trustly Card.
  • Jackpocket’s 10x playthrough applies to your deposit, so a $500 deposit means $5,000 of slot play, or $25,000 on table games that count 20%.
  • FanDuel’s offer excludes anyone who has wagered on FanDuel Sportsbook, FanDuel Casino, Betfair Casino or Mohegan Sun Casino, bet365’s excludes players who took a casino new-player bonus in another state, and Jackie Casino’s excludes anyone who already holds a PlayStar account.

New NJ Online Casinos

Five new online casinos launched in New Jersey in 2026: Betinia, Resorts World Bet, Ember, Vegas Club and Jackie Casino, all under the Caesars Atlantic City or Ocean Casino Resort permits. No new brand showed up in the DGE’s revenue tables in 2025, a year of four exits. The dates below come from the DGE’s monthly brand tables and the operators’ own announcements.

The new brands are still small. Betinia, Ember, Vegas Club and Resorts World Bet won about $2.9 million between them in September 2026, roughly 1% of the state’s online win. Ember’s offer (100% up to $1,000 with code MATCH100, at 10x) and Betinia’s (110% up to $1,100, at 15x) are bigger on paper than most, but Ember’s iPhone app is rated 2.29 from 58 ratings. I’d give the newcomers a few months of track record before making one of them your main casino.

Yes. Governor Chris Christie signed A2578 (P.L.2013, c.27) on February 26, 2013, and New Jersey’s online casinos opened to the public on November 26, 2013, after an invite-only soft launch from November 21. The DGE regulates online casinos and approves each site, while the Casino Control Commission licenses the Atlantic City casinos behind them. You must be 21 or older and physically in New Jersey, but you don’t have to live there.

The law, Article 6C of the Casino Control Act, ties every online casino to Atlantic City. Each site runs under one of the nine casinos’ internet gaming permits, and the main gaming equipment has to sit in a secure facility in Atlantic City. New Jersey is often called the first state to launch online casinos, but Delaware got there first, in October 2013.

The authorization isn’t permanent. P.L.2023, c.71 (A2190), signed June 30, 2023, extended it to 15 years after the operative date the DGE set in November 2013, so it expires in November 2028 unless the legislature reauthorizes it. As of October 23, 2026, we found no 2026 bill to renew it.

Prediction markets are a separate fight. Kalshi offers sports event contracts in New Jersey under a 3rd Circuit ruling that they fall under federal rules, and the state has asked the US Supreme Court to hear the case, backed by 39 states and Washington, DC (DGE, October 20, 2026). Our New Jersey prediction markets guide covers them, and our New Jersey sports betting explainer covers sportsbooks.

NJ Online Casino Tax

New Jersey taxes online casino revenue at 22.25%: a 19.75% gross revenue tax plus a 2.5% investment alternative tax. The 19.75% rate took effect on July 1, 2025 under P.L.2025, c.66 (A5803, signed June 30, 2025), replacing 15%. Internet gaming taxes raised $581.9 million in 2025 and $534.5 million from January to September 2026, including $61.1 million in September. The gross revenue tax goes into the state’s Casino Revenue Fund, and the investment alternative tax is distributed under Atlantic City’s Payment in Lieu of Property Taxes (PILOT) statute. Your own winnings are taxed as income under New Jersey’s Gross Income Tax (NJ Division of Taxation), and casinos report slot wins of $2,000 or more on Form W-2G in 2026 (IRS).

Sweepstakes Casinos Are Banned in New Jersey

Sweepstakes casinos have been illegal in New Jersey since August 15, 2025, when P.L.2025, c.128 (A5447) was signed and took effect immediately. The law makes it unlawful gambling to run a sweepstakes that a person in New Jersey pays to enter, including through a dual currency system that lets players exchange coins for prizes. Operators face civil penalties of up to $100,000 for a first offense and $250,000 for each later one, and every day a violation continues counts as a separate offense. S1500, which Senator Joseph Cryan introduced on January 13, 2026, would instead license and tax sweepstakes casinos as internet gaming, but as of October 23, 2026 it hadn’t moved beyond the Senate committee it was sent to. New Jersey’s online casinos won $274.8 million in September 2026, up 13.0% year over year, which makes New Jersey the second-biggest US online casino market after Michigan. The figures below come from the DGE September 2026 report, released October 19, 2026, unless another regulator is named.

Comparing states takes care, because they report different measures. New Jersey’s $274.8 million is internet gaming win, a gross figure that doesn’t deduct promotional credits. Michigan‘s closest equivalent, iGaming gross receipts, was $300.2 million, and its adjusted gross receipts (AGR), which do deduct promotional credits, were $288.15 million (MGCB, September 2026). New Jersey trails on both. Michigan’s gross receipts also topped New Jersey’s win for 2025 as a whole ($3.09 billion against $2.91 billion), so the claim that New Jersey is the biggest US market, still made on some sites, is out of date. Pennsylvania is third at $249.3 million.

Growth is slowing. Online win rose 22.0% in 2025, then 13.2% in the first nine months of 2026, and only 4.4% in August. The gains are uneven: Fanatics (up 187.4%), bet365 (52.8%), Hard Rock Bet (25.5%) and BetRivers (25.2%) grew fastest in September, while FanDuel grew 2.1% and Tropicana Casino fell 45.2%. Across January to September 2026, online play also out-earned the Atlantic City casino floors, $2.40 billion against $2.24 billion.

NJ Casino Apps

All ten of the biggest NJ online casinos by 2026 win have both an iPhone and an Android app. BetRivers’ casino and sportsbook app has the best App Store rating in the table below, 4.85 from 51,761 ratings, while FanDuel Casino (4.77 from 204,534) and BetMGM Casino (4.72 from 148,057) have the most ratings among casino-only apps.

The ratings are national: most of these apps serve several states, so a 4.7 reflects players in Michigan or Pennsylvania too. A few are New Jersey-only builds, and they include the weakest scores: Tropicana Casino NJ is rated 1.92 from 169 ratings and hadn’t been updated since November 12, 2024, Ember Casino NJ is rated 2.29 on the App Store against 4.0 on Google Play, and the new Jackie Casino app is rated 1.83 from 6 ratings. Every app checks that you’re in New Jersey with geolocation, so allow location access before you play. Store data as of October 23, 2026:

NJ Online Casino Games

NJ online casinos offer slots, table games, live dealer games and, at a handful of brands, online poker. Hard Rock Bet’s New Jersey site alone listed 4,816 games on October 23, 2026.

Slots

The big brands add branded slots and opt-in jackpots to the usual studio titles. BetMGM’s NJ spins list includes MGM-branded games such as BetMGM Diamond Stepper and Bellagio Fountains of Fortune, and Caesars Palace has Caesars Palace Imperial Gold Megaways. FanDuel Casino Jackpots ($0.10 or $0.20 a spin) and Hard Rock Bet Jackpots ($0.20 a spin) are opt-in side bets, while bet365’s lobby has jackpot collections such as Age of the Gods and Jackpot Royale Express. FanDuel and bet365 both have an “Atlantic City Favorites” row of games players know from the casino floors. For game picks, see our online slots guide.

Live Dealer

Most big NJ brands run live dealer tables. Caesars Palace lists New Jersey tables by name, including Caesars Live Baccarat and Caesars Palace Live Dealer Blackjack, and Hard Rock Bet streams blackjack, roulette, baccarat and craps around the clock, with minimum bets from 20 cents on roulette, 50 cents on craps and $1 on blackjack and baccarat. Hard Rock Bet says its Evolution tables stream from a studio at Ocean Casino Resort and its Playtech tables from one inside the Atlantic City Convention Center. The DGE doesn’t publish a studio list, so we can’t confirm where other brands’ tables stream from.

Online Poker

New Jersey’s main poker rooms are BetMGM Poker, Borgata Poker and partypoker, all three run by BetMGM, plus WSOP and PokerStars, which has run only inside FanDuel since April 1, 2026, with one player pool across Michigan, New Jersey and Pennsylvania. DraftKings also reports a small amount of poker win to the DGE. New Jersey belongs to the Multi-State Internet Gaming Agreement with Delaware, Michigan, Nevada, Pennsylvania and West Virginia, which lets rooms share player pools across states. Poker is a small slice of the market: $2.34 million in September 2026, down 5.2% year over year.

The poker welcome offers are deposit matches released as you play, not cash up front. BetMGM Poker and Borgata Poker each match 100% up to $1,000 plus up to $85 in tournament tickets, released in 10% chunks that each need 12 times the chunk in rewards points within 120 days. BetMGM’s own terms give $75 in tickets for a $1,000 deposit, against $85 in its headline, although the ticket list in the same clause adds up to $85. partypoker matches 100% up to $600 with a $25 tournament ticket and a $5 SPINS ticket, released at 4 times in points within 60 days. WSOP offers up to $100 in free play and tournament tickets (the full $100 needs a $1,000 deposit and is mostly tickets) and a 100% match up to $1,000, released at $5 per 50 points within 30 days.

Deposits and Withdrawals

Most NJ online casinos take debit cards, PayPal and online bank transfers (ACH), many also take a prepaid Play+ card, and several let you deposit or withdraw cash at their partner casino’s cage in Atlantic City. Credit card rules vary: BetMGM, Bally Bet, Betinia and Ember take them, Caesars says it no longer does, and Tropicana’s and betPARX’s help pages contradict themselves on it. The table shows methods and payout times as each casino publishes them, and we haven’t tested the speeds.

Two details catch people out. BetMGM-run casinos (BetMGM, Borgata, Wheel of Fortune and PartyCasino) review withdrawals for up to 3 to 5 days before the method’s own clock starts, and Jackpocket’s terms say withdrawals “usually take 10 business days”. We couldn’t read Fanatics’ or DraftKings’ payment pages. For more, see our guides to PayPal casinos and the best payout online casinos.

Responsible Gambling in New Jersey

New Jersey’s gambling helpline is 1-800-GAMBLER, run by the Council on Compulsive Gambling of New Jersey, which you can call, text or chat with through 800gambler.org. DGE rule N.J.A.C. 13:69O-1.2(b) requires every NJ online casino to show “If you or someone you know has a gambling problem and wants help, call 1-800-Gambler” on its login and log off screens, and 13:69O-1.4(n) requires it to let you set your own deposit, spend and time limits.

You can also self-exclude through the DGE self-exclusion program. Signing up in person or by video call excludes you either from Atlantic City casinos, racetrack sportsbooks and all online gaming and sports betting, or from online gaming and sports betting only, with minimum periods of 1 year, 5 years or lifetime. Signing up online, through the DGE or your casino account, covers online gaming and sports betting, with minimum periods of 1 or 5 years. The DGE’s self-exclusion hotline is 1-833-788-4DGE.

On October 20, 2026, the Attorney General and the DGE announced data-driven responsible gaming rules, now codified in state regulations, and said New Jersey “is the first state to make these measures mandatory” (DGE). The new rules sit alongside protections that already applied:

New Jersey Online Casino FAQs

What is the gambling age in New Jersey?

You must be 21 to gamble at New Jersey’s online casinos and in Atlantic City’s casinos. The New Jersey Lottery is different: it sells tickets to anyone 18 or older. Some welcome offers set a higher bar than the law, since PlayStar’s welcome bonus, Jackie Casino’s welcome spins and Vegas Club’s lossback are only for players 25 and older.

How many casinos are in Atlantic City?

Atlantic City has nine casino hotels: Bally’s, Borgata, Caesars, Golden Nugget, Hard Rock, Harrah’s, Ocean, Resorts and Tropicana. They are the only casinos in New Jersey, which has no tribal casinos, and every legal NJ online casino runs under an internet gaming permit tied to one of them.

Do you have to live in New Jersey to play at NJ online casinos?

No. You have to be physically in New Jersey when you play, not a resident, and the casino confirms your location with geolocation. A visitor from New York can play while in the state. A few offers add their own rules: Jackpocket’s match requires residency in Delaware, New Jersey, New York or Pennsylvania, PlayStar’s and Jackie Casino’s welcome offers need an account registered in New Jersey, Pennsylvania or New York, and Vegas Club’s lossback requires a New Jersey address.

Do you pay tax on NJ casino winnings?

Yes. New Jersey taxes gambling winnings, including online casino winnings, under its Gross Income Tax, and you can offset them with gambling losses from the same year, but not below zero. Winnings are also federal taxable income, and a casino issues Form W-2G for a slot win of $2,000 or more in 2026. This is general information, not tax advice.

Is it legal to play at offshore online casinos from New Jersey?

No offshore casino is approved in New Jersey. The DGE says any site not on its authorized list is not approved to offer internet gaming in the state, so offshore and crypto casinos sit outside its rules, its dispute process and its self-exclusion program. With a licensed NJ casino, you can file a dispute with the DGE after first complaining to the operator.

Is online poker legal in New Jersey?

Yes. Online poker has been legal since 2013 under the same internet gaming law, for players 21 and over who are in the state. The main rooms are BetMGM Poker, Borgata Poker, partypoker, WSOP and PokerStars, which now runs inside FanDuel, and New Jersey’s membership of the Multi-State Internet Gaming Agreement lets rooms pool players with other member states.

Are sweepstakes casinos legal in New Jersey?

No. New Jersey banned sweepstakes casinos on August 15, 2025, under P.L.2025, c.128. The law treats paid-entry sweepstakes, including dual currency coin systems, as unlawful gambling, with civil penalties of up to $100,000 for a first offense and $250,000 for each later one. The DGE-approved sites are the only legal real-money online casinos in the state.

Will NJ online casinos still be legal after 2028?

Only if the legislature renews them. P.L.2023, c.71 extended online casino authorization to 15 years after the November 2013 start, so it expires in November 2028 unless reauthorized by law. As of October 23, 2026, we found no 2026 bill to renew it. The 2023 extension was signed on June 30, 2023, about five months before the previous deadline.
