Michigan Online Casinos 2026: All 15 Legal MI Casino Sites and Apps, Ranked

Michigan has 15 legal online casinos, all licensed by the Michigan Gaming Control Board (MGCB) for players 21+ who are in the state. BetMGM Casino is our top pick: $10 gets up to 1,000 bonus spins plus a week of Spin the Wheel prizes. FanDuel Casino is the biggest: the MotorCity license it runs on took 24.7% of September 2026 iGaming adjusted gross receipts.

Michigan’s online casinos took $288.15 million in adjusted gross receipts (AGR) in September 2026, up 18.4% on a year earlier, and the 12 tribal license holders out-earned Detroit’s three casinos online that month, 51.6% to 48.4%.

Of the 13 casinos whose Michigan offers we could read, only Caesars Palace and Horseshoe credit a bonus without a deposit, and you can claim just one of the two.

21+ and physically in Michigan to play. Offers checked on each casino’s Michigan page on October 23 and 24, 2026. Squawka may earn a commission from partner links, which doesn’t affect our ratings.

Best Michigan Online Casinos, Ranked

BetMGM Casino is the best Michigan online casino for most players, ahead of Fanatics, FanDuel, DraftKings and Caesars Palace. I ranked the eight below on four things: what the welcome offer is worth after its wagering and time limits (from each casino’s Michigan terms), App Store and Google Play ratings, payment and payout terms, and rewards. Partner casinos can rank higher, as our note on how Squawka makes money explains, and the box above shows only the casinos we have partner links with. Michigan is one of seven states with live real-money online casinos, and our US online casinos guide covers the others.

1. BetMGM Casino: Our Top Pick

BetMGM Casino gives new Michigan players 100 bonus spins for a first deposit of $10 or more, then 100 more on each of the next nine days they log in, up to 1,000. From the next day you also get one Spin the Wheel a day for seven days, for a deposit match of up to $200 or 500 BetMGM Rewards Points. The Michigan terms are tighter than the headline: spin winnings arrive as Casino Bonus with 10x wagering to clear in three days, and a wheel match needs 15x within 14 days while your deposit stays locked. The offer runs to March 14, 2027. I rank BetMGM first for the size of the package and its rewards, which convert to room nights at more than 20 MGM resorts, though Fanatics has cleaner spin terms. Its iPhone app is rated 4.72 from 148,057 ratings.

2. Fanatics Casino: No Playthrough on Its Spins

Fanatics Casino asks for a $5 wager, not a deposit. Place $5 in cash wagers on any Fanatics Casino game within 30 days of registering and you get 100 bonus spins a day for 10 days on 7’s Fire Blitz Hotstepper 2, with no playthrough on what they win. Each day’s spins expire at 11:59 p.m. ET, and the terms limit the offer to “select new customers”. You get one welcome offer, and the Michigan alternatives are up to $1,000 back in Casino Credit on first-24-hour net losses (1x, expires seven days after issue) or $250 with code CASINO250 after $50 in wagers. The spins offer runs to February 27, 2027. Fanatics grew 45.1% year over year in September 2026, the fastest of Michigan’s five biggest online casinos, and its iPhone app is rated 4.78 from 36,187 ratings.

3. FanDuel Casino: Biggest Michigan Online Casino

FanDuel Casino is Michigan’s biggest online casino: the MotorCity Casino license it runs on took 24.7% of iGaming AGR in September 2026 and $768.1 million in 2025, ahead of BetMGM’s $735.5 million. Its offer is harder to pin down, because FanDuel’s pages showed two versions on October 23 and 24, 2026. The main casino page gives 1,000 bonus spins on Huff N’ Puff slots (50 a day for 20 days) plus a $25 Casino Bonus for a $5 first deposit, at 1x with a seven-day expiry, and a FanDuel promo article says the Michigan version ends at 11:59 a.m. ET on November 1, 2026. The Michigan landing page headlines 500 spins on Love Island: Unlocked plus $50 instead (the main page mentions it too), with no terms we could find. Anyone who has wagered on FanDuel Sportsbook, FanDuel Casino, Betfair Casino or Mohegan Sun Casino is excluded, and the Michigan page adds Stardust Casino. The iPhone app is rated 4.77 from 204,505 ratings.

4. DraftKings Casino: Spins or Lossback

DraftKings Casino lets you pick one of two offers, and the choice is final. Wager $5 for 1,000 Flex Spins, 50 a day for 20 days: the first 100 are worth $0.50 each and the other 900 $0.20, a face value of $230, but you must log in 20 days in a row. Or take 100% of your net losses back for 24 hours from the moment you choose it, up to $1,000 in Crown Cash at 1x. The offer runs to November 22, 2026 and needs no code. I’d take the spins, which don’t depend on you losing first, unless you plan a big first session. DraftKings is Michigan’s third-biggest online casino (the Bay Mills Indian Community’s license, which also carries DraftKings Poker, took 14.9% of September 2026 AGR), and Golden Nugget, which DraftKings’ terms list as one of its platforms, offers $50 in Crown Cash or 500 Flex Spins for $5 until November 29, 2026.

5. Caesars Palace Online Casino: $10 With No Deposit

Caesars Palace Online Casino has one of the two no-deposit bonuses we found in Michigan: $10 on select slots once you register and verify your ID, at 1x within seven days. A first deposit of $10 or more then earns a 100% match up to $1,000, and the offer adds 2,500 Caesars Rewards Reward Credits. The match is the hard part: 15x on select slots within seven days, so a full bonus needs $15,000 of play in a week, and you forfeit it if you fall short. PayNearMe and casino-cage deposits don’t qualify, and the code is WELCOME. The headline ties the Reward Credits to $25 in wagers, but the Michigan terms only say they arrive within 30 days of registration. Caesars runs this casino and WSOP poker on the Grand Traverse Band of Ottawa and Chippewa Indians’ license (5.2% of September 2026 AGR).

6. Hard Rock Bet Casino: Up to $1,000 Lossback

Hard Rock Bet Casino launched in Michigan on December 2, 2025 on the Hannahville Indian Community’s license, replacing 888. A $10 first deposit gets 500 spins on Cash Eruption at $0.20 each ($100 in total), valid for seven days, with winnings paid as cash. Then 100% of your net cash slot losses in the 24 hours after your first cash slot wager come back as Casino Bonus, up to $1,000, at 1x within 14 days. You need at least 10 separate wagers, no single wager can exceed half your net loss, and table, live dealer and video poker play doesn’t count. There’s no promo code. Hard Rock Bet took $180.9 million of AGR from January to September 2026, more than Fanatics, and its Michigan page listed 4,515 games as of October 25, 2026.

7. bet365 Casino: Michigan’s Newest Online Casino

bet365 Casino went live in Michigan on April 17, 2026 on the Little Traverse Bay Bands of Odawa Indians’ license, replacing PokerStars. Deposit $10 or more, tick the “Claim” box, and you get a 100% match up to $1,000 to bet 15 times on eligible slots within 30 days. While the bonus is active, your deposit is locked to those slots and no game round can exceed 10% of your qualifying deposit or bonus. The spins come from 10 reveals on separate days within 20 days, each worth 50, 75 or 100 spins at $0.10 with no wagering. bet365 puts the odds at 50%, 35% and 15%, so expect about 663 spins, not 1,000. Claim within 30 days of registering and by 6:59 a.m. ET on January 5, 2027. bet365 aims to process withdrawals in two hours, though it can take up to 48.

8. BetRivers Casino: 4.85-Rated App

BetRivers Casino is Michigan’s fourth-biggest online casino, with 7.5% of September 2026 AGR on the Little River Band of Ottawa Indians’ license, up 15.6% on a year earlier. Its combined casino and sportsbook app is rated 4.85 on the App Store from 51,746 ratings, the highest score in our app table below. We couldn’t read its Michigan welcome offer between October 23 and 26, 2026, because BetRivers’ promotions page and help-center terms didn’t load for us, so we can’t rate the offer and it sits last here. Check the current offer and code in the app before you deposit.

Michigan has 15 licensed online casinos because the Lawful Internet Gaming Act allows one internet gaming license each for Detroit’s three commercial casinos and the 12 tribes that run Class III casinos in the state. Each license holder works with a platform provider, the brand you see, and the MGCB’s list of authorized platforms names all 15. The table sorts them by share of September 2026 iGaming AGR.

Licenses: MGCB authorized-platform list, October 23, 2026. Dates and revenue: MGCB internet gaming revenue workbooks, plus operator announcements for brand changes. The MGCB reports revenue by license, so a share includes any poker brand on the same license.

Other lists count differently. The MGCB’s own list of legal internet gaming websites has 16 names because it adds World Series of Poker, which runs on the same Grand Traverse Band license as Caesars Palace, and PokerStars poker now runs under MotorCity’s license on FanDuel’s platform. The law caps each license holder at two brands, one for poker and one for other casino games, so with 15 eligible license holders, every new casino brand since the last license went live in April 2022 has replaced an old one, while new poker brands such as PokerStars on FanDuel and DraftKings Poker have used a license’s second slot. Lists that still show PokerStars Casino, 888 or WynnBET are out of date. Every license holder also runs a land-based casino, and the MGCB publishes the full list of tribal casino locations.

Most of the brand changes have come on tribal licenses. bet365 replaced PokerStars on the Little Traverse Bay Bands’ license on April 17, 2026. Hard Rock Bet replaced 888 on Hannahville’s license on December 2, 2025, after the license went dark in July 2025, and 888 had replaced TwinSpires there on February 7, 2023 (MGCB). Fanatics took over Lac Vieux Desert’s license from PointsBet on February 22, 2024, and Caesars launched Horseshoe Online Casino on the Sault Ste. Marie Tribe’s license, previously WynnBET’s, on October 7, 2024 (Caesars). In Detroit, the Greektown license launched with Barstool, moved to ESPN Bet and has used the theScore Bet name since December 1, 2025, with Hollywood Casino as its casino brand.

Michigan Online Casino Bonuses and Promo Codes

Most Michigan welcome offers are bonus-spin bundles or 24-hour lossbacks for a $5 or $10 first deposit or wager, and most need no promo code. Caesars Palace (WELCOME) and Horseshoe (SHOEHSH) are the exceptions among the offers we read, along with Fanatics’ $250 option (CASINO250). Our online casino bonuses guide explains wagering requirements, and the dollar figures in parentheses show the play needed to clear a full bonus.

We couldn’t read the Michigan offers of BetRivers or Hollywood Casino (theScore Bet) between October 23 and 26, 2026: BetRivers’ pages didn’t load for us, and Hollywood Casino shows promotions only after you log in. Eagle Casino & Sports had no casino welcome offer, because its 100% match up to $1,500 plus 100 free spins expired on October 20, 2026.

No-Deposit Bonuses in Michigan

Two Michigan online casinos give you something without a deposit, and you can only take one of them. Caesars Palace credits $10 on select slots after you register and verify your ID (1x within seven days, code WELCOME), and Horseshoe credits 125 bonus spins on registration (code SHOEHSH), with winnings at 1x on slots, 2x on video poker or 5x on other games, craps excluded, within five days. Each brand’s terms say that opening an account with its code rules you out of the other’s new-player offer. Horseshoe also makes you finish all 125 spins within five days or lose what the played ones won, and its terms don’t state what each spin is worth. BetMGM’s blog says it “is not currently running a no deposit bonus offer”. Every other offer in the table needs a deposit or a $5 to $10 wager.

What to Check Before You Claim

These are the catches we found in Michigan casinos’ own terms. When a casino’s pages contradict each other, I’d plan around the less generous version.

  • Caesars Palace gives you seven days to play a $1,000 match through 15 times, BetMGM three days for 10x on spin winnings, and Four Winds seven days for 10x on spin winnings, or 100x if you play table games.
  • DraftKings’ 1,000 Flex Spins need 20 log-ins in a row, BetMGM’s spins arrive only on days you log in, and Fanatics’ spins expire at 11:59 p.m. ET on the day they land.
  • bet365 caps any single game round at 10% of your qualifying deposit or bonus and locks the deposit to eligible slots. BetMGM’s deposit-match wagering excludes baccarat, roulette, craps and a long list of named slots, and Hard Rock Bet’s lossback counts only cash slot wagers.
  • FanDuel excludes anyone who has wagered on FanDuel Sportsbook, FanDuel Casino, Betfair Casino or Mohegan Sun Casino. Fanatics excludes anyone who has registered or wagered with it in any state, and bet365 excludes anyone who has claimed one of its casino new-player offers in another state.
  • Caesars Palace pays no match on PayNearMe or casino-cage deposits, and bet365’s match excludes paysafecard and Trustly Card deposits.
  • FanDuel shows two Michigan offers, and Fanatics’ pages disagree on whether its 1,500-spin Spooky Link offer is open in Michigan (the offer text says Pennsylvania and West Virginia only). FireKeepers’ promotions tile (up to $750 at 10x) contradicts its bonus-policy page (100% up to $1,000 at 35x).

New Michigan Online Casinos

bet365 is the newest Michigan online casino, live since April 17, 2026, and Hard Rock Bet arrived on December 2, 2025. Both took over tribal licenses whose previous brands had left, according to the MGCB’s approvals of bet365 and Hard Rock Bet, and that’s how every new casino brand has entered Michigan’s 15-license market since the last license went live in April 2022.

Launches, exits and rebrands in 2025 and 2026, as of October 26, 2026.

The switches show up fast in the MGCB’s figures. The Odawa license made $1.78 million in March 2026, before bet365 arrived, and $10.67 million in May. Hannahville made between $0.48 million and $0.67 million a month under 888 in the first half of 2025 and almost nothing from August to November, then $33.55 million in December 2025, Hard Rock Bet’s first month. New doesn’t mean proven, though, and I’d give a newcomer a few months of payout history before making it your main casino.

Yes. Michigan legalized online casinos with the Lawful Internet Gaming Act (2019 PA 152, House Bill 4311), which Governor Gretchen Whitmer signed on December 20, 2019, and the first sites went live on January 22, 2021. The Michigan Gaming Control Board licenses and regulates them. You must be 21 or older and physically in Michigan when you wager, but you don’t have to live there, and only Detroit’s casino licensees and tribes that run Class III casinos in Michigan can hold an internet gaming license.

The act sets a few rules that shape the market. Each license holder can use at most two brands, one for poker and one for other casino games, and platform providers such as BetMGM and FanDuel hold their own MGCB licenses. Michigan can share online poker player pools with other states under a multistate agreement, and the act bars anyone from providing computers or other devices in a place of public accommodation so people can place internet wagers. Online sports betting runs under a separate 2019 law, covered in our Michigan sports betting explainer.

Sweepstakes Casinos in Michigan

Sweepstakes casinos aren’t licensed in Michigan, and the MGCB treats them as illegal gambling. It sent cease-and-desist letters to Stake.us on November 2, 2023 and to VGW, which runs LuckyLand Slots, on December 5, 2023, accusing VGW of conducting illegal gambling and Stake.us of promoting an unlicensed online lottery or raffle (MGCB, January 18, 2024). The board said both had since taken steps to stop Michigan residents gambling on their sites. More letters followed: 19 offshore operators on July 2, 2025, which the MGCB called its largest enforcement action to date, 45 over four months, announced in April 2026, and 33 on October 8, 2026, covering “online casino games, sweepstakes-style games, and sports betting”. Under the Michigan Gaming Control and Revenue Act, running an unlicensed gambling operation is a felony punishable by up to 10 years in prison, a fine of up to $100,000, or both.

We found no Michigan law or pending bill written specifically about sweepstakes casinos as of October 26, 2026, so enforcement rests on the existing gambling laws. This page doesn’t promote sweepstakes casinos, and our sweepstakes casino legal states tracker covers the rules in each state.

Sports prediction markets are a separate fight. Michigan has a state-court preliminary injunction against Kalshi, and Robinhood and Coinbase have agreed to stop offering sports event contracts to Michigan customers, Coinbase by October 10, 2026, according to the MGCB. Our Michigan prediction markets guide tracks the cases.

Michigan Online Casino Revenue and Market Share

Michigan’s online casinos took $288.15 million in adjusted gross receipts (AGR) in September 2026, up 18.4% on September 2025 and down 0.9% on August, according to the MGCB. The MGCB reports two measures: gross receipts ($300.2 million in September) and AGR, the smaller figure the tax is charged on. Michigan’s gross receipts topped New Jersey‘s $274.8 million of internet gaming win and Pennsylvania‘s $249.3 million of iGaming revenue that month, the closest figures those states publish.

The MGCB reports by license, so these figures include any poker brand on the same license. FanDuel’s MotorCity license leads on every period we checked: 24.7% of September AGR, 24.9% from January to September, and $768.1 million to BetMGM’s $735.5 million in 2025. BetMGM was the only one of the five biggest operators to shrink in September, down 1.8%, while Fanatics grew 45.1% and Hard Rock Bet, in its first year, out-earned Fanatics from January to September ($180.9 million against $168.0 million). bet365 lifted the Odawa license 273.9% above its September 2025 figure from the PokerStars era, and FireKeepers, whose site promotes an upgraded online casino, grew 96.5%, while Horseshoe fell 26.4% and Four Winds 10.8%.

Michigan Online Casino Tax

Michigan taxes each Detroit casino’s annual online AGR at graduated rates from 20% to 28%: 20% below $4 million, 22% from $4 million, 24% from $8 million, 26% from $10 million and 28% from $12 million (LIGA Sec. 14). Tribes make payments on the same schedule under Sec. 7(1)(f) of the act. All 15 licenses took more than $12 million in AGR in 2025. There’s no separate slots rate, unlike Pennsylvania’s 54%.

Where the money goes depends on the license type, according to the act and the MGCB’s distribution chart. A Detroit casino’s tax goes 65% to the state’s Internet Gaming Fund, 5% to the Agriculture Equine Industry Development Fund (capped at $3 million a year, with any excess going to the Internet Gaming Fund) and 30% to the City of Detroit. A tribe’s payment goes 70% to the Internet Gaming Fund, 10% to the Michigan Strategic Fund and 20% to the local government where its casino sits. The Internet Gaming Fund first covers the MGCB’s costs, then pays $3 million a year to the Compulsive Gaming Prevention Fund, up to $7 million to the first responder presumed coverage fund and $1 million through the Michigan Strategic Fund for tribal governments, and the rest goes to the School Aid Fund (LIGA Sec. 16, as amended in September 2026).

A tax rise was proposed this year but not enacted. Governor Whitmer’s FY2027 budget, released February 11, 2026, counted $192.8 million from “updating the state’s internet gaming, sports betting, and online gaming tax structure” (Office of the Governor). For online casinos, the plan was a new 36% marginal rate on each operator’s AGR above $185 million a year, a level four licenses passed in 2025. The MGCB put the gain at $135.5 million in FY2027 in its testimony to a House budget subcommittee on June 11, 2026. When lawmakers amended the act’s tax section in September 2026 (2026 PA 93), they kept the 20% to 28% schedule. Your own winnings are taxed separately, as income, by the IRS and the Michigan Department of Treasury.

Michigan Casino Apps

Fanatics Casino (4.78) and FanDuel Casino (4.77) are the top-rated casino-only apps on Apple’s App Store among Michigan’s licensed brands, with BetMGM Casino and Hollywood Casino next at 4.72, while the tribal-run apps for FireKeepers, Four Winds and Play Gun Lake sit between 1.86 and 2.27. BetRivers’ combined casino and sportsbook app scores highest in the table, at 4.85. The ratings are national, since most of these apps serve several states. The law requires every platform to confirm you’re in Michigan before you wager, so allow location access. Store data as of October 23, 2026:

Check your platform before you download. Hollywood Casino rates 4.72 on iPhone but 2.8 on Android, FireKeepers’ and Four Winds’ iPhone apps score under 2.0, and Play Gun Lake’s 2.27 comes from only 30 ratings. Eagle Casino & Sports is the exception among the tribal apps, at 4.25. We couldn’t find Michigan-specific Android listings for BetMGM, bet365 or BetRivers, so their Google Play figures come from listings named for other states.

Michigan Online Casino Games

Michigan online casinos offer slots, table games and live dealer games, and several run online poker rooms. Hard Rock Bet’s Michigan page alone listed 4,515 games as of October 25, 2026.

Michigan Online Slots

Slots are where almost every Michigan welcome offer gets played, and Michigan taxes them at the same rate as table games. Cash Eruption turns up in three of the offers we read: Hard Rock Bet’s 500 spins are locked to it, it’s on bet365’s list of slots for clearing the match, and Four Winds’ spins cover six Cash Eruption titles. The big brands add games of their own. BetMGM’s Michigan spins list includes MGM-branded slots such as Bellagio Fountains of Fortune and BetMGM Diamond Stepper, FanDuel lists exclusives such as Huff N’ Even More Puff Hard Hat Edition and Love Island Unlocked, and Hollywood Casino has a “Casino Floor” lobby of online versions of slots from PENN’s land casinos plus in-house titles such as Legendary Larry. Our online slots guide covers RTP and volatility.

Live Dealer

The MGCB first authorized live dealer games on July 21, 2021, when it cleared Evolution to stream blackjack, baccarat and roulette from a studio in Southfield, starting the next day (MGCB). Evolution opened a second Michigan studio in Grand Rapids on May 14, 2026 (Evolution). Check a bonus before you take it to a live table: BetMGM counts live dealer games at 20% toward its wagering, Hard Rock Bet’s lossback ignores them, and Play Gun Lake’s offer page invites you to try live dealer tables during its 24-hour lossback window.

Online Poker

Online poker is legal in Michigan. BetMGM Poker, WSOP, PokerStars on FanDuel and DraftKings Poker run under MGCB approvals. Michigan joined the Multi-State Internet Gaming Agreement in May 2022, which now links it with Delaware, Nevada, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and West Virginia. BetMGM has pooled Michigan and New Jersey players since November 6, 2024, WSOP got multistate approval in May 2024, PokerStars on FanDuel has shared one pool across Michigan, New Jersey and Pennsylvania since April 1, 2026 (MGCB), and DraftKings Poker has linked the same three states since July 8, 2026 (MGCB).

Deposits, Withdrawals and Payout Speed

Stated withdrawal times vary widely. theScore Bet lists most of its methods as instant, bet365 aims to process withdrawals in two hours (up to 48) before the provider’s own time, and Caesars says many debit-card withdrawals post within an hour once approved. BetMGM sits at the other end, reviewing every withdrawal for up to 3 to 5 days before the payment method’s own clock starts. Most of the casinos we read take debit cards, PayPal or Venmo, and bank transfers. The table shows what each one publishes, and we haven’t tested the speeds.

Payment pages read October 23 and 24, 2026. Several are multistate pages, and availability can differ by state.

FanDuel contradicts itself here too: its Michigan page promises payouts “in as little as two hours” and says FanDuel is regulated by the PGCB, which is Pennsylvania’s regulator, while its main casino page says “as little as 24 hours”. For cash, BetMGM lists cage withdrawals in Michigan, and theScore Bet pays out at participating Hollywood Casino locations. We couldn’t read DraftKings’ withdrawal article. Responsible Gambling in Michigan

Michigan’s problem gambling helpline is the Michigan Problem Gambling Helpline, 1-800-270-7117, which Health Management Systems of America runs for the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services, answering 24 hours a day by phone or virtually. The MGCB says calls to 1-800-GAMBLER are connected to the same helpline. For self-exclusion questions, the MGCB’s Responsible Gaming Section answers on 888-223-3044, Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. ET.

The MGCB runs two self-exclusion programs, one for online play and one for Detroit’s casino floors:

Every licensed operator must also give you an “easy and obvious method” to set deposit, wager and time limits, available when you open an account, when you deposit and when you log in, under MGCB rule R 432.653. Limits apply immediately or at the time shown, and you can only loosen them on 24 hours’ notice. Each casino keeps its own self-exclusion list for single-site bans, Michigan residents can claim a free Gamban license to block gambling sites, and the MGCB warns that offshore sites don’t honor the state’s self-exclusion database. Online Casinos in Michigan: FAQs

Can you gamble at 18 in Michigan?

Not online. Every Michigan online casino and Detroit’s three casinos require you to be 21. Some tribal casinos set their own gaming age at 18, including Kewadin’s five casinos, Turtle Creek, Leelanau Sands, Crystal Shores, Little River Casino Resort and Soaring Eagle. Odawa, Gun Lake, FireKeepers and Four Winds are 21+. We couldn’t confirm the age at Bay Mills, Island Resort, Ojibwa or Northern Waters.

Are there land-based casinos in Michigan?

Yes, 27 of them. Detroit has three commercial casinos (MGM Grand Detroit, MotorCity and Hollywood Casino at Greektown), and 12 tribes run 24 Class III casinos around the state, according to the MGCB. Each of the 15 online casino licenses belongs to one of the Detroit casinos or one of those 12 tribes.

Do you have to live in Michigan to play at Michigan online casinos?

No. You have to be physically in Michigan when you wager, not a resident, and the casino checks your location. BetRivers, for example, lets you register from any US state but only wager inside Michigan. You also need to be 21 or older and pass identity checks, which ask for details such as your date of birth and the last four digits of your Social Security number.

Do you pay tax on Michigan online casino winnings?

Yes. Gambling winnings are federal taxable income, and Michigan taxes them at its income tax rate, 4.25% for tax year 2025, to the extent they’re in your adjusted gross income. Since 2021, if you itemize federally and deduct casual gambling losses, you may be able to deduct them in Michigan too. The minimum IRS reporting threshold for Form W-2G is $2,000 for 2026 payments. This is general information, not tax advice.

How can you tell if a Michigan online casino is licensed?

Check the MGCB’s list of authorized online gaming platforms, which names all 15 casino brands and the Detroit casino or tribe behind each. Licensed sites such as BetMGM, BetRivers and FanDuel also state their MGCB authorization in their footer. You can report an unlicensed site to the MGCB on 1-888-314-2682 or at [email protected]. Offshore sites don’t honor Michigan’s self-exclusion database.

Can you use your Michigan online casino account in another state?

Sometimes. Multistate brands let you play in another state where they’re licensed, while you’re there. FanDuel says its casino works in Michigan, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, West Virginia and Connecticut, but its bonus spins can only be used in the state of your first deposit. BetMGM pools Rewards points across its states. Hard Rock Bet says that outside Michigan you can log in but can’t play for real money.

Is online poker legal in Michigan?

Yes. Online poker is legal for players 21 and over who are in Michigan, under the same 2019 law as online casinos. BetMGM Poker, WSOP, PokerStars on FanDuel and DraftKings Poker run in the state, and Michigan’s membership of the Multi-State Internet Gaming Agreement lets rooms share player pools with other member states such as New Jersey and Pennsylvania.

Are sweepstakes casinos legal in Michigan?

No. They aren’t licensed in Michigan, and the MGCB treats them as illegal gambling. It has sent cease-and-desist letters to sweepstakes operators including Stake.us and VGW, which runs LuckyLand Slots, and its batch of 33 letters on October 8, 2026 covered sweepstakes-style games. Running an unlicensed gambling operation is a felony in Michigan, punishable by up to 10 years in prison, a $100,000 fine or both.
