Tigres vs Chivas Prediction: Liga MX Clausura 2026 QF Leg 1

Chivas finished second in the Tabla General, but they walk into Estadio Universitario on Saturday night carrying the memory of the 4-1 thumping the same hosts handed them three weeks ago.

Tigres host Chivas on Saturday, May 2, at 9:00 PM ET in the first leg of a Liga MX Clausura 2026 quarter-final that pits the second seed against the seventh — but on the run-in, on the scoreboard, and on the injury sheet, that gap looks far smaller than the points column suggests. Tigres come in unbeaten in three and rolling at home; Chivas come in off two goalless draws and short of three regular starting midfielders.

The seeding line says Chivas should be the favourites by status; the form line and the H2H tell a tougher story. Armando González gives the Rebaño a single-minded attacking weapon — 24 goals from 35 appearances, the second-best haul in the division — but the supply lines around him look thin going into the leg. Tigres, by contrast, return to the Universitario with Juan Brunetta and Ángel Correa both into double-figure goal counts and a 5-1 demolition of Mazatlán still ringing.

BTTSYes-133 @ Bet365⭐⭐⭐The recent league meeting at Estadio Universitario produced five goals; both attacks have scored with regularity this Clausura.
Correct Score2-1 Tigres+2000 @ Bet365⭐⭐Tigres own home advantage and a recent four-goal demolition of the same opponents; Chivas always carry the threat of Armando González responding for the away goal.
Anytime GoalscorerJuan Brunetta+140 @ Bet365⭐⭐⭐⭐The Argentine has 18 goals from 40 appearances this season, takes Tigres’ set pieces, and registered 38 shots on target across the campaign — comfortably the best return on the squad.
ResultTigres Win+110 @ Bet365⭐⭐⭐Chivas head north without Luis Romo, Omar Govea, and Richard Ledezma — three of their regular midfield rotation. Tigres are unbeaten in three and won this fixture 4-1 in mid-April.
Over 2.5 GoalsYes-111 @ Bet365⭐⭐⭐Tigres have scored at least three in their last two home matches; the last league meeting between the pair alone produced five.

Our approach: anchor the slip on Brunetta to score, lean into a Tigres home win, and treat Yes BTTS as the foundational play.

Season Form & Tabla General

Chivas finished 11 points and five places clear of Tigres in the Clausura table, but ended the campaign in slightly shakier form, meaning this could be closer than expected.

Potential Match-Winners

  • Juan Brunetta (Tigres): The Argentine attacking midfielder leads the squad with 18 goals from 40 appearances and tops the assist chart for big chances created (21). He scored twice in the recent win over Chivas.
  • Ángel Correa (Tigres): The former Atlético Madrid forward has produced 16 goals and 12 assists across 39 outings, with 61 shots on target — the highest tally on the team.
  • Armando González (Chivas): 24 goals in 35 appearances, the second-most prolific striker in Liga MX this season. If Chivas need a leg-1 lifeline, he is the entire script.
  • Efraín Álvarez (Chivas): With Richard Ledezma a doubt, Álvarez carries Chivas’ creative load — seven assists, sixteen big chances created, and the player most likely to manufacture chances against the Tigres back line.

Head-to-Head

Chivas are winless in their last eight against Tigres, last beating them back in February 2023. In the two meetings during 2025/26, Tigres won the most recent 4-1 after a 0-0 Apertura draw.

Recent Form

Tigres — W D D W L

  • Apr 26, 2026: Tigres 5-1 Mazatlán (W, home)
  • Apr 23, 2026: Atlas 0-0 Tigres (D, away)
  • Apr 19, 2026: Necaxa 1-1 Tigres (D, away)
  • Apr 12, 2026: Tigres 4-1 Chivas (W, home)
  • Apr 4, 2026: Tijuana 1-0 Tigres (L, away)

Tigres are unbeaten in their last three. Joaquim sits out with a knock, and Marco Farfan is sidelined with a foot issue, but the spine of the side that hammered Chivas in mid-April returns. Nicolás Ibáñez is racing the calendar back from a calf problem and could feature for the second leg even if absent here.

Chivas — D D W L D

  • Apr 26, 2026: Chivas 0-0 Tijuana (D, home)
  • Apr 23, 2026: Necaxa 0-0 Chivas (D, away)
  • Apr 19, 2026: Chivas 5-0 Puebla (W, home)
  • Apr 12, 2026: Tigres 4-1 Chivas (L, away)
  • Apr 6, 2026: Chivas 2-2 Pumas (D, home)

Chivas’ last two matches were goalless.. Crucially, the Rebaño head into the opener without Luis Romo (hamstring), Omar Govea (calf), and Richard Ledezma (knock) — three midfielders who have anchored most of the regular-phase rotation. Ángel Sepúlveda is also out as a back-up striker option. Brian Gutierrez will shoulder much of the midfield burden off the back of his World Cup call-up for Mexico.

Chivas vs Tigres Prediction

Tigres’ home-leg ceiling looks higher than Chivas’ away-leg floor, particularly with the Rebaño’s midfield gutted by absences and the recent league meeting between the pair still raw on the scoresheet. Brunetta is the cleanest path to a goal in this match — check the latest market at bet365 and lean into the Argentine’s price as the goalscorer angle.
