Our Patriots vs Seahawks prediction has Seattle edging a Super Bowl LX rematch barely seven months on. New England travels to Lumen Field on Wednesday, September 9, and this game truly opens the 2026 NFL season. Kickoff is 8:20 PM ET on NBC and Peacock. Notably, the opponent is the team that beat them 29-13 for the title in February. Squawka Signal’s live read on this game, including where the value sits, is in the block just below. Signal rates all 16 Week 1 games the same way.
Both teams finished 14-3, which is the tidiest summary of why the NFL put this game first. Seattle, notably, went in as the NFC’s top seed and came out with the Lombardi. Similarly, New England won the AFC East and then beat Houston and Denver on the road. Neither roster is quite the one that met in February, though.
Notably, the headline departure is Seattle’s: Kenneth Walker III, who carried 27 times for 135 yards in the Super Bowl, is now a Kansas City Chief. New England, meanwhile, has added A.J. Brown. So the question is simple. Does Drake Maye finally have the help to solve the defense that sacked him six times in February?

Patriots vs Seahawks: 2025 season form
The records match, but the routes to them do not. New England outscored everybody here and leaned on Drake Maye, while Seattle built theirs on a defense that gave up just 292 points.
| 2025 regular season | Patriots | Seahawks |
|---|---|---|
| Record | 14-3 | 14-3 |
| Points for | 490 | 483 |
| Points against | 320 | 292 |
| Point differential | +170 | +191 |
| Sacks recorded | 35 | 47 |
| Sacks allowed | 48 | 27 |
| Interceptions made | 10 | 18 |
| Third-down offense | 42.9% | 39.8% |
| Red-zone offense | 57.1% | 54.2% |
| Red zone allowed | 67.5% | 50.0% |
| Opponent passer rating | 93.1 | 77.9 |
Those last rows explain the gap Signal sees. New England scored more, yet conceded a 93.1 passer rating and let opponents score on 67.5% of red-zone trips. Seattle held both far lower, and when two offenses are this close, the defense that bends less decides it.
Patriots vs Seahawks injury report and team news
Both sides expect their first-choice quarterbacks. The live Out, Doubtful and Questionable designations appear in the table below, and they update as the official report lands through the week.
Maye starts behind a rebuilt receiving corps, with Brown the clear number one alongside Romeo Doubs and DeMario Douglas. Notably, Stefon Diggs has left for Washington. Meanwhile Rhamondre Stevenson and TreVeyon Henderson again split the backfield.
Darnold starts for Seattle, with Jaxon Smith-Njigba, Cooper Kupp and Rashid Shaheed giving him the deepest group in the game. Barner still remains the tight end, and Charbonnet leads the backfield.
The matchup that decides it: Seattle’s rush against New England’s protection
Everything funnels into one collision, and we have already seen it resolve once. Seattle’s rush produced six sacks and 11 quarterback hits in the Super Bowl, and Maye’s rating fell to 79.1 despite 295 passing yards.
Maye is not the problem. He threw for 4,394 yards and 31 touchdowns in 2025, against eight interceptions all year. Yet he threw two in February because Seattle made him hold the ball. Moreover, Devon Witherspoon and Ernest Jones IV, who set that tone, are both back.
Brown is the answer, because he should shorten the read and get the ball out faster. Still, Week 1 is the hardest week to unveil a new passing rhythm, and Lumen Field the least forgiving place to try it.
Players to watch
- Jaxon Smith-Njigba (SEA, WR): Led the NFL with 1,793 receiving yards, yet managed 27 on 10 targets in the Super Bowl.
- Drake Maye (NE, QB): How quickly he finds Brown under pressure is the story of New England’s night.
- A.J. Brown (NE, WR): The signing that reshapes the Patriots’ passing game, and one the Seahawks have not faced before.
- Devon Witherspoon (SEA, CB): A sack, a pass defended and four tackles from the corner in February. The Seahawks blitz him for a reason.
- Zach Charbonnet (SEA, RB): Inherits Walker’s workload. If the Seahawks control the clock again, he is why.

Patriots vs Seahawks prediction and score projection
Our Patriots vs Seahawks prediction is a narrow Seattle win, for the same reason the Seahawks won it all in February. The Patriots will move the ball, because they moved it then and still lost by 16. Seattle’s rush turned drives into punts. For reference, Signal puts Seattle at 57% and New England at 43%, a fair price of +133 on the Patriots; the market’s own read on both is in the Signal block.
New England is better equipped this time, though. A.J. Brown is a genuine answer to pressure, and Seattle has lost the back who carried 27 times for 135 yards in that Super Bowl. Those two changes are why this should be closer than February’s 16-point margin suggests.
Ultimately we will take the Seahawks to win, 23-21. Their front seven should decide it again, even against a better-equipped New England. Which side carries the value, however, is a different question from who wins, and the live read on that sits in the Signal block rather than here.
