Both clubs have lost the goaltender they expected to lean on, for entirely different reasons: Winnipeg is still without a suspended Connor Hellebuyck, and St. Louis has moved on from Jordan Binnington. Jets vs Blues is an 8:00pm ET start at Enterprise Center on Tuesday 20 October.

Winnipeg is coping without Hellebuyck and now without Morrissey
The Jets are 4-2-2 with 23 goals for and 24 against, which is the profile of a side winning tight games rather than good ones. Saturday’s 3-2 home defeat to Carolina was settled by a Nikolaj Ehlers power-play goal against his former club.
Josh Morrissey has moved from day to day to injured reserve with a wrist problem. Winnipeg was already down Garrett Brown and Vladislav Namestnikov, and Morrissey plays more minutes than any other Jet.
Hellebuyck remains unavailable. He’s suspended, not injured.
How they compare
| 2025-26 | Winnipeg Jets | St. Louis Blues |
|---|---|---|
| Record | 35-35-12 | 37-33-12 |
| Points | 82 | 86 |
| Goals for per game | 2.79 | 2.80 |
| Goals against per game | 3.12 | 3.10 |
| Power play | 18.5% | 17.6% |
| Penalty kill | 77.6% | 76.7% |
These two finished four points apart last season and were separated by almost nothing at either end. St. Louis had the slightly better goal difference and Winnipeg the better penalty kill. No pairing in tonight’s Canadian games was closer last season.
St. Louis has benched Binnington and is conceding anyway
The Blues are 3-4-1 and have lost two in a row, the last 5-2 in Nashville on Saturday. They have conceded 28 goals in eight games.
Jordan Binnington has a .831 and a 4.68 across three starts, and Joel Hofer has taken the net. Hofer’s .906 over five is the better half of a split that has stopped being a split.
The blue line is thin too. Torey Krug, Tyler Tucker and Logan Mailloux are all on injured reserve, along with Alexey Toropchenko, Dillon Dube and Ross Johnston. Among tonight’s Canadian games, only Toronto, Minnesota and Edmonton have more players out.
Winnipeg has won three of the last four and leads the series
| Date | Result | Venue |
|---|---|---|
| 9 Apr 2026 | Winnipeg 3-2 | St. Louis |
| 15 Mar 2026 | Winnipeg 3-2 | Winnipeg |
| 20 Jan 2026 | Winnipeg 3-1 | Winnipeg |
| 17 Dec 2025 | St. Louis 1-0 | St. Louis |
Winnipeg leads the all-time series 37 wins to 27 and has taken three of the last four, two of them 3-2. St. Louis’s win in that run was a 1-0 shutout at home in December.
Four of the last five meetings finished with the winner scoring three or fewer. These are not clubs that trade chances with each other.
Team news
| Club | Player | Status |
|---|---|---|
| Winnipeg | Connor Hellebuyck | Unavailable. He is serving a suspension rather than carrying an injury, despite how the league’s feed files it |
| Winnipeg | Josh Morrissey | Out, wrist, on injured reserve |
| Winnipeg | Garrett Brown | Out, lower body, on injured reserve |
| Winnipeg | Vladislav Namestnikov | Out, undisclosed |
| St. Louis | Torey Krug | Out, ankle, on injured reserve |
| St. Louis | Tyler Tucker | Out, knee, on injured reserve |
| St. Louis | Logan Mailloux | Out, hand, on injured reserve |
| St. Louis | Alexey Toropchenko | Out, upper body, on injured reserve |
| St. Louis | Dillon Dube | Out, neck, on injured reserve |
| St. Louis | Ross Johnston | Out, lower body, on injured reserve |
Who starts in goal is an open question. Winnipeg has split its starts between Skinner (five, .906) and Stevenson (three, .893), and St. Louis between Hofer (five, .906) and Binnington (three, .831). Season rates say little about who takes the warm-up, and the market reprices as soon as a club names someone.
Everyone else’s absentees are on the NHL injury report.
Players to watch
Kyle Connor, Winnipeg. Eight goals already on a side that has scored 23 in eight games. Take him out and the Jets are not 4-2-2.
Joel Hofer, St. Louis. A .906 across five starts, and the reason Binnington is watching.
Stuart Skinner, Winnipeg. Unbeaten in regulation across five starts at a .906, standing in for a suspended Vezina winner.
Score prediction
Winnipeg Jets 3-2 St. Louis Blues. Winnipeg has the series, the better goaltending split and the shorter injury list. One goal in it, as it usually is.
Jets vs Blues prediction
Winnipeg is the side we would take. It has won three of the last four meetings, Skinner has not lost in regulation, and St. Louis has six players out and has conceded 28 in eight.
The case for St. Louis is Hofer and home ice, and the fact that Winnipeg is without its best defenceman. Our lean: Winnipeg, and the under if the total sits at 6 or higher. Four of the last five meetings finished with the winner scoring three or fewer.
For how these two measure against the league, see the NHL power rankings. The NHL schedule covers the rest of Tuesday’s games.
Puck drop is 8:00pm ET / 7:00pm CT on Tuesday 20 October 2026 at Enterprise Center in St. Louis.
No. He is serving a suspension rather than carrying an injury, and Stuart Skinner has taken five of Winnipeg’s eight starts in his place.
Joel Hofer has taken the net with a .906 across five starts. Jordan Binnington is at a .831 and 4.68 across three.
Winnipeg leads the all-time series 37 wins to 27 and has won three of the last four meetings.
Winnipeg to win 3-2, and the under if the total sits at 6 or higher.
