Canucks vs Panthers odds
Canadian books post NHL prices the night before or the morning of a game, and this one was not on the board when the page was built. The live board is on our NHL odds page, and the daily picks with prices sit on NHL predictions.
Vancouver’s road trip has gone as badly as it could
Five straight defeats: 3-2 at home to Vegas, then 7-2 in Carolina, 4-1 in New Jersey, 6-2 at the Rangers and 3-2 on Long Island. That is 23 goals conceded in five games.
Thatcher Demko is out and there is no clear timetable. He had hip surgery in January and the club describes him as taking steps every day. Kevin Lankinen and Leevi Meriläinen have split the crease, and neither has settled it.
Vancouver has conceded 38 goals in eight games, the most in the league. No other club has let in more than 31, and the two directly behind the Canucks have played the same number of games or fewer. This is not a run of bad luck in goal.
How they compare
| 2025-26 | Vancouver Canucks | Florida Panthers |
|---|---|---|
| Record | 25-49-8 | 40-38-4 |
| Points | 58 | 84 |
| Goals for per game | 2.56 | 3.00 |
| Goals against per game | 3.83 | 3.34 |
| Power play | 21.8% | 19.5% |
| Penalty kill | 71.5% | 81.0% |
Vancouver finished 26 points behind Florida last season with the worst penalty kill in the league at 71.5 per cent. It also had the better power play. That gap between the two units is most of the story.
Florida is winning without its two best forwards
The Panthers put seven past Columbus on Tuesday. They are 3-2-2 while missing Barkov, who is on long-term injured reserve after choosing non-surgical rehab, and Marchand, who is out with a leg injury.
Both goaltender Jacob Markstrom and defenceman Radko Gudas are day to day. Florida has conceded 20 goals in seven games, which is not the form of a club that usually defends well.
The seven in Columbus flatters them slightly. Florida had scored twelve in its previous six and lost at home to Minnesota 4-1 the week before. Nineteen goals for and twenty against is a club getting by rather than rolling.
Vancouver has the better record here, improbably
| Date | Result | Venue |
|---|---|---|
| 17 Mar 2026 | Vancouver 5-2 | Vancouver |
| 17 Nov 2025 | Florida 8-5 | Florida |
| 12 Dec 2024 | Vancouver 4-0 | Vancouver |
| 17 Oct 2024 | Vancouver 3-2 (OT) | Florida |
Vancouver leads the all-time series 25 wins to 23 and has won four of the last six, including a shutout in December 2024 and an overtime win in Sunrise. On current form that reads like a different era, because it is.
The one Florida win in that run was an 8-5 at home. Thirteen goals in a game involving a Vancouver side that concedes at this rate is not a freak result.
Team news
| Club | Player | Status |
|---|---|---|
| Florida | Aleksander Barkov | Out, lower body, on long-term injured reserve after opting for non-surgical rehab |
| Florida | Brad Marchand | Out, leg, on injured reserve |
| Florida | Jacob Markstrom | Day to day |
| Florida | Radko Gudas | Day to day |
| Vancouver | Thatcher Demko | Out, hip. No clear timetable after surgery in January |
| Vancouver | Filip Chytil | Out, shoulder, on injured reserve |
| Vancouver | Jack Thompson | Out, on injured reserve |
Florida missing Barkov and Marchand is the reason this is closer than the records suggest. Those are the two players the Panthers build around. Vancouver is missing its first-choice goaltender and a top-six forward. Availability across the league is on our NHL injury report.
Players to watch
Brock Boeser, Vancouver. He scored on the power play against the Islanders. On a team that has lost five straight he is still finding the net.
Elias Pettersson, Vancouver. A shorthanded goal against the Rangers and an assist on Tuesday. Vancouver needs far more of this.
Florida’s power play. It scored seven in Columbus on Tuesday against a Vancouver penalty kill that finished last in the league at 71.5 per cent. That is the mismatch on the page.
Score prediction
Florida Panthers 4-2 Vancouver Canucks. Florida is at home and scoring freely even without its best two forwards. Vancouver cannot keep the puck out. Two goals in it, and it could be more.
Canucks vs Panthers prediction
Florida should win this. Vancouver has lost five in a row, conceded 38 in eight and is finishing a long trip three time zones from home. The Panthers scored seven on Tuesday.
The case for Vancouver is the series. It has won four of the last six meetings, including 5-2 at home in March and 4-0 in December 2024. Florida without Barkov and Marchand is also a lesser team. Our lean: Florida, and the over if the total sits at 6.5 or lower. Vancouver’s games have averaged eight goals and its penalty kill was the worst in the league last season. Where both sit is on our NHL power rankings, and the rest of Thursday is on the NHL schedule.

Five. The Canucks are 2-6-0 and have conceded 38 goals in eight games.
Florida to win, and the over if the total sits at 6.5 or lower. Vancouver’s games have averaged eight goals and its penalty kill was the worst in the league last season.
