Real Madrid goalkeeper Keylor Navas could be headed out of the door at the Stadio Bernabeu if Zinedine Zidane doesn’t see him in his plans.

The Costa Rican has been with Madrid since 2014 but admitted he could leave if his manager doesn’t want him.

Is Keylor Navas about to leave Real Madrid? Five key things to know…

  1. The Costa Rican goalkeeper has a contract that runs until the end of next season
  2. Navas has played just five times in La Liga this season.
  3. Zidane played Navas 44 times in his last season at the club.
  4. Real Madrid’s other ‘keeper is Thibaut Courtois.
  5. Navas – who was once linked with a move to Arsenal – has admitted he would go if Zidane ‘tells him to leave’.

Real Madrid have not had a good time of it since Zidane left last summer. They have already sacked two managers and currently sit third in the table behind both city rivals Atletico and usual foe, Barcelona.

The club opted to bring back Zidane after dispensing of the service of both Julen Lopetegui and Santiago Solari.

It is likely that the returning Frenchman will want to shake up the squad ahead of the new season and Keylor Navas could be one of those out the door.

The 32-year-old admitted he would leave the club if asked to by his manager but reminded reporters: “I have a contract here.”

Questions over the Costa Rican’s future came about following Real’s defeat at Valencia on Wednesday, a game in which Navas started.

The stopper admitted after the game that his future was far from certain but was clear that he does still have time remaining on his current deal.

“If the Coach tells me to leave then I will leave, but I have a contract with Real Madrid and this is my club,” Navas told reporters, as cited by Marca.

“I will always work hard and try to show that I am deserving of my place in the side, but now I must focus on the remaining eight matches of the season and bringing good results for our honour.

“This has been a difficult season that has not gone as we had hoped but everyone at Real Madrid must pull together to improve our situation.”

Navas has seen his place in the pecking order fall recently. Not only has he been behind Thibaut Courtois for the majority of the season but on Saturday Luca Zidane, son of Zinedine, was selected ahead of him against Huesca.

Could Real Madrid bring in Adrien Rabiot?

It is obvious that Real need new faces through the door this summer and they are already being linked to a number of players.

One of those is Paris Saint-Germain’s 24-year-old midfielder Adrien Rabiot. At 6ft 2″ the player is an imposing figure and one who has not made himself popular in the French capital.

He was fined by his club after going to a nightclub before the Ligue 1 leaders Champions League clash with Manchester United and made matters worse for himself by liking a post on Instagram of Patrice Evra celebrating the Red Devils victory.

Real have denied interest but will certainly be certainly looking to strengthen with the La Liga title way out of their reach.
