After a losing start to the season, Zalgiris have turned things around to record a decent record of 6-4 after 10 games, leaving them sixth and in playoffs. But it is still very early in the season and they only sit one win ahead of ninth-placed Maccabi Tel Aviv, who beat them in the first game of the season before Zalgiris lost again to Olympiacos.

Two wins followed those two defeats though, with Zalgiris beating Virtus Bologna and Barcelona in narrow victories – Partizan ended the win streak with a 87-76 victory but that seemed to fuel Zalgiris. The Lithuanian side have won four of their past five games, only losing to Baskonia while beating ALBA Berlin, LDLC ASVEL, Olimpia Milano and Valencia, the latter seeing them come from seven points down at half-time.

Panathinaikos, meanwhile, have the reverse record to Zalgiris with four wins to six defeats in their opening 10 games and currently sit 12th in the table only one win behind the playoffs but with a pretty poor points difference of -42. The Greek side endured a terrible start to the campaign which saw them losing five of their opening six games, only beating Crvena zvezda in Round 2.

But they have started to get on track with three wins from their past four. This current run started with victory over Baskonia and their one defeat, albeit a 107-77 thrashing, did come at the hands of leaders Fenerbahce in their next game. In the past two matches, Panathinaikos have beaten Virtus Bologna in over-time and LDLC ASVEL, dominating their most recent match and only seeing the margin of their victory dropping to 19 points as they took their foot off the gas.
