Young Boys vs Man Utd build-up & previous line-ups:

Not much is being expected of Young Boys in a Champions League group that also features Europa League holders Villarreal and Atalanta who have reached the round of 16 or further in each of the last two seasons. The 15-time Swiss champions, now coached by former Huddersfield Town boss David Wagner, have never escaped the first phase since the competition’s inception. On the domestic front Young Boys are currently fourth after winning two of their five matches played. The club from Bern, who have a game in hand on their rivals, only setback came on matchday three when they suffered a 1-0 loss at Sion.

It’s amazing how one transfer can lift an entire football club and change the atmosphere. Cristiano Ronaldo’s unlikely return to Old Trafford has galvanised Manchester United and their supporters. Last season’s Premier League runner-up had already acquired the services of Jadon Sancho and Raphaël Varane but this signing is on another level. Ronaldo made it clear he’s back to win the big prizes and since he left 12 years ago the Red Devils reached one more final under Sir Alex Ferguson but following the legendary Scotsman’s departure in 2013 they’ve reached the knockout phase on three occasions across seven seasons. During that same period Ronaldo won four more European Cup honours to go with his 2008 success which is United’s most recent triumph.

‘Road Runner’ Ronaldo

“I didn’t expect to do that, to score two goals. Maybe one but not two,” was Cristiano Ronaldo’s assessment following his Manchester United comeback against Newcastle United as the Red Devils ran out 4-1 winners at Old Trafford. His second goal, which saw him wave off challenges from Javier Manquillo and Isaac Hayden, saw the five-time Ballon d’Or winner — according to BBC Sport — reach 20.2mph as he beared down on goal. The all-time Champions League top scorer with 134 goals, 11.2% were scored during his first spell at Man Utd (15) between 2003 and 2009, can equal the all-time Champions League appearance record — currently held by his former Real Madrid teammate Iker Casillas on 177 appearances — if he features against Young Boys in Bern.
