The second tier usually kicks off the week before the Premier League’s own curtain raiser, offering fans a tantalising prelude before the madness truly gets underway.<\/p>\n

This season is slightly different, however. Because of the congested summer schedule the starting pistol will signal the opening off both the Championship and the Premier League for 2020\/21, with the two divisions commencing in tandem.<\/p>\n

That should not avert your attention away from the Championship, though. For some, the second tier is where it’s truly at by offering more thrills, spills, highs and lows than any other league on the continent, and doing so without the financial muscle of its top division counterparts.<\/p>\n
