Scott Parker has left Burnley by mutual consent following the club’s relegation back down to the Championship<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Parker previously masterminded Burnley’s 2024-25 Championship promotion campaign, collecting 100 points and conceding just 16 goals across the season. However, the club have struggled badly in the top-flight this term, winning just one of their last 25 league matches since October.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Club and manager have subsequently decided to part ways, with Mike Jackson placed in interim charge of the first team for the rest of the season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So, who could come in and replace Parker this summer? Here\u2019s a look at the latest odds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It\u2019s been nearly 18 months since Steven Gerrard, the early odds-on favourite for Burnley, left Saudi side Al-Ettifaq in January 2025. While he\u2019s kept busy with media work, a return to management feels increasingly likely this summer, with the Championship emerging as his most likely destination – with Bristol City and Burnley both potential suitors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Gerrard memorably spearheaded Rangers to the 2020\/21 Scottish title – this remains their only league triumph in the past 14 years – before leaving for England with Aston Villa. Despite a promising start, his spell unravelled and he was dismissed after a return of 13 wins in 40 games; successor Unai Emery since taking the club to new levels domestically and in Europe. Gerrard then moved to Saudi Arabia on a lucrative \u00a315m-a-year deal with Al-Ettifaq, where he spent 18 months.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Gerrard, 45, will feel there\u2019s unfinished business in English football and could well take encouragement from former England teammate Frank Lampard, who revived his managerial reputation by leading Coventry City to the Championship title this season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Burnley could prove to be an attractive prospect as the yo-yo club bids for a third promotion in five seasons.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Craig Bellamy<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Craig Bellamy, 8\/1, has unquestionably made a big impact as Wales manager, even if the country\u2019s 2026 World Cup<\/a> dream ended in heartbreak with a play-off semi-final penalty shoot-out defeat to Bosnia and Herzegovina.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Despite missing out on the tournament, Bellamy has earned plenty of credit for the transformation he\u2019s overseen: bringing greater tactical detail, a more fluid and dynamic style, and fostering a clear sense of unity and buy-in across the squad.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Welshman has a clear connection to Burnley, having spent two years as Vincent Kompany\u2019s assistant at Turf Moor, playing a key role in their promotion to the Premier League. Bellamy left following rthe club’s 2024 relegation to take charge of Wales, but his familiarity with the club makes him an obvious contender if Parker exits. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, prising him away from his role with Wales may not be straightforward.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Liam Rosenior<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Few would have begrudged Liam Rosenior, 10\/1, taking the Chelsea job after his impressive work at Strasbourg, but the step up ultimately didn\u2019t go to plan. It was a big gamble by the club and a mix of inconsistent results and off-field challenges made things difficult for the young boss; and at times he didn\u2019t help himself, drawing attention with some bizarre David Brent-esque soundbites, including the now-notorious #RespectTheBall.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Still, Rosenior has shown he has plenty of character and resilience. He isn\u2019t someone who retreats from setbacks, and will be keen to respond positively after what we are sure was a valuable learning experience at Stamford Bridge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A return to the Championship – where he previously impressed with Hull City – could offer the ideal environment for his comeback, away from the intense spotlight of the Premier League.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Thomas Frank<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Thomas Frank, 10\/1, guided Brentford to a historic promotion in 2021 before firmly establishing the Bees in the Premier League. The Dane made the difficult decision to leave the club for Europa League victors Tottenham last summer, a move that didn’t go well, ending in the sack after just eight months.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Frank is no doubt eyeing up another Premier League opportunity, and is 10\/3 for the Crystal Palace job<\/a>, while he has also been mentioned in connection with Scottish side Celtic. If nothing materialises, Burnley could represent a very outside chance of tempting him back to the Championship. They may have to play the waiting game though.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

From Burnley\u2019s perspective, the appeal is clear. Despite a difficult period at Spurs, Frank\u2019s work at Brentford was hugely transformative: built on an attractive style of play, smart recruitment, and a strong feel-good atmosphere around the club.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Michael Carrick<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Michael Carrick is currently priced as a 33\/1 outsider, though those odds could shorten quickly if Manchester United decide to look elsewhere in their search for a permanent manager.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Carrick is in pole position for the Red Devils job following an outstanding start, lifting the mood around the club and improving results to the point where United are on the verge of securing Champions League football – United have accumulated more points (29) than any Premier League side since Carrick took over in mid-January.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

No final decision has been made yet, however, and the longer the process drags on, the greater the chance United turn to another option. If that happens, Carrick is likely to attract strong interest from elsewhere.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Other potential options<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Sean Dyche is available at 16\/1 to return to Burnley, who he famously managed for 10 years, during which he led the club to two promotions, 7th in the Premier League, brought Europa League football to Turf Moor, and even had a pub named after him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sitting alongside Dyche in the managerial Job Centre you\u2019ll also find the likes of former Man Utd boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer (8\/1), Slaven Bilic and Ralph Hasenhuttl (12\/1 & 14\/1), and former Championship promotion winner Russell Martin at 20\/1.<\/p>\n\n\n
